I personally don't eat Mexican foods, however, my mother sends me here quite often for her lunch and or dinner. She hadn't complained about the food and keeps sending me back, so I take it the food is great. Trust me, my mother is one that would definitely let you know otherwise lol. What a great find. A friend told us about this place and we just had to stop in and give it a try. We sat down and got our drinks and wow our food was there in a minute. The food was hot and looked great. We dug in and the food was great. The service was great too. I would tell everyone to give it a try. You will love it too. The price is reasonable. All I can say is we loved it!!! The service was ok, but the food was delicious. The portions were huge and the prices were very reasonable.

I've eaten Mexican food from everywhere and El Patron in Rockwood is the equivalent to geriatric cuisine ( no flavor). I ordered the express lunch menu Tostaguac special priced well at $4.99, which I thought great price till I tasted it. Not great for the price. Bland , bland, bland. The best thing on my dish was the rice, not the center of attention the tostada. I'll be going to EL Morrell next to Wal-Mart next time. We tried this place as we were road tripping back to our home in NOVA from the Ozarks. I looked it up on yelp and it got good reviews. I think it is just like any other Mexican (American or whatever you want to call it) restaurant I've been to in the last ten years. We sat at a bar which was made for tall people, so sort of hard to eat from. I had the taco salad (because I wanted tomatoes and veggies and protein) and it wasn't bad. I got Southern Comfort in an iced glass and that was the best thing. The waiter did seems seem to take his time and I'm guessing it's a workload issue because they place was empty there were not many people around (1526 pm). After this road trip, I am done with this type of "food" for awhile. Ok for a road trip. Guessing there is not much else out there in that locale, so maybe it's some of the best for the paridigm. read more

Best Mexican food in Roane County by a large margin. The portions here are huge and prices are very competitive. If you like some spice I highly recommend the enchiladas verdes. It has fork tender beef tips with a nice green sauce. The sweet tea here is always perfect. read more

This place was pretty darn tasty! I went with a larger group about half hour before closing. They were courteous and kind, even to a gruff member of our party. We had two pitchers of margaritas (they were a bit too sweet for my taste, lots of sour mix in that bad boy), and a variety of menu items. I loved my taco salad and the fajita quesadilla I split. The ingredients were fresh and the cheese was gooey. Sold! At the end of the night, for 7 people, the bill was only 86$. Score. They also have a back patio for outdoor seating, although it was way too hot for that. I would stop by here again for Mexican if I was in the area. read more

The food is absolutely amazing! Anything they do with shrimp is particularly wonderful - try the shrimp cocktail for a blast of fresh flavors, or the Delgalado special dinner with shrimp. The Pollo El Patron is wonderful, and the pork enchiladas are huge and delicious. To be honest, we have never had anything there that wasn't excellent. Very friendly staff and tasty margaritas. The beer specials are good and the decor is very nice. The only issue I have is that when the food comes to you, it's soaked in grease. I ordered ground beef tacos and they were dripping in grease and soaking through the tortilla. The person I was with ordered the nachos and there was a pool of grease on the plate. read more

Stopped here while out on a small road trip because we're both fans of Mexican food and there really didn't seem to be much in the area to choose from. The building was .. strange. From the outside it looked like anything but a restaurant. Hubby deduced it might have been a DMV office or something like that. But when we entered it was definitely Mexican. Latin music played in the background and the smells of fried tortillas filled the air. We bypassed the bar area, but the décor was really cute. It kind of had a tiki bar vibe going. We were greeted promptly and lead to a booth inside a small room just outside the kitchen. "What an odd little room" I thought, then I turned around and it all clicked into place. We weren't at an old DMV, we were inside an old bank.. more specifically we were sitting inside the bank vault. The inner workings of the vault door were visible behind a sheet of clear plexiglass. It was beautiful. Shiny, intricate gear work and filigree details... like nothing I'd ever seen.. especially in a Mexican restaurant. A really neat experience. The food did not disappoint either. The chips arrived nice and warm and the salsa was a good mix of chunkiness with a really nice flavor. Hubby ordered the Chili Colorado and I got a Burrito Arandas. The Chili wasn't overly hot but had a wonderful flavor. The filling of my burrito was a mix of chicken, steak and pork carnitas with chorizo. The pork was the star but they were all very tasty. If I want my Mexican fix, I go here. I've eaten here dozens of times, but never have a single complaint about the food! It's hot, it's fresh, it's probably what you have in mind when you're craving good Mexican. (On the other hand, if they're having a drink special, watch out! They might be getting rid of old ingredients...) The restaurant is built in an old bank, so it definitely has its own aesthetic, though the only thing that gives it away inside is the giant vault door. First started going to El Patron at their first location in Harriman so happy now to have one closer to home. I have never been so disappointed in food as I have been today. The food tasted like it came from a packaged frozen dinner and the service was less than expected. The margaritas come from a machine and there are signs for beer they don't have. Taco bell has more flavor than this sorry excuse for a mexican restaurant. read more
