Accuracy of providing complete and correct order did not occur. Desire to correct mistakes definitely was lacking. Severel minutes on a spiraling discussion with multiple employees requesting an "exchange" of the incomplete meal, requesting to drive back to return for a replacement of correct and complete "Fresh" meal, I still received push back. Worst Mexican food I've ever had. Granted, I'm Mexican. I grew up in San Diego, very close to the Mexican border, and dined in Mexico often. I also lived in New Mexico for awhile (their style is very different from California). And now I live in LA (I'm not fond of the Mexican food here that much either -- as it varies greatly from San Diego). Point being, I know my expectations of Mexican food are pretty high. Honestly, I didn't even want to eat Mexican food in Indiana, because I figured I would be disappointed. But, while here for 5 days on business, my coworkers insisted. I should have put my food down. I ordered the tamale, because it's pretty basic -- how do you screw up a tamale!? But it was completely bland and flavorless. The beans and rice tasted more like water than anything else. I would not recommend this place if you have any idea what real Mexican food should actually taste like, because this isn't it! read more

Do yourself a favor, eat here! The food is fantastic, the service is amazing, their portions are generous, and the price is very, very reasonable. We love authentic Mexican cuisine and they never fail to deliver. The Chile Colorado, Enchiladas Verdes, Tamales, Burritos, as well as other specials are amazing. The salsas or queso are also delicious with the fresh tortilla chips. On top of all this the staff is amazing. The service is fast, fun, and engaging. We dine out a lot and quite frankly have pretty high standards for restaurants, El Patron definitely deserves five stars. Enjoy! read more

Have eaten here just once, but we thought the food was good. As was service. It was a Monday night, no crowd to speak of. The way the restaurant is laid out, it would be VERY noisy if there was a crowd. I had 2 soft tacos with ground beef. They were delicious and very inexpensive at $1.75 each. I compared the taste to the same at the hugely popular Los Bravos (ground beef is bland). Ken had the Indiana Burrito with a combination of steak and chicken. He went on and on about how good it was. He said the meat & chicken were seasoned well and there was plenty of both. Very fresh and quite large ($9.75). The only thing we didn't care for was the salsa as it was on the runny side and lacking in flavor. Damn near tomato juice. Chips were warm and fresh and complimentary. The menu is pretty extensive and prices are very reasonable. Great dessert options too! read more

First time her, grabbed some food before a movie. Chips and salsa was just avarage if not below. Very cold salsa with zero spice. Hot sauce they brought out to supplement it was not even remotely spicy. I got the Paella ($12). Is says "Aztec Spice Blend", whatever that may mean. Regardless it was bland. I grew I up eating foods from the El Norte region... made famous by the Sonoran style (heavy cheese sauces, flour tortillas, (fried) carnitas etc...) At El Patron, their Yucatan, Veracruz, Southern Mexico POV is refreshing! I love El Patron's attention to authenticity & true commitment to fine customer service. Largely underwhelmed. I have been here quite a few times (20+ visits), but I felt that today was worth writing a review. As we arrived, a girl who could not be over the age of 10 was our waitress. When I ordered a side of beans, as she brought them to us, she accidentally had put a large amount of her hand in the side of my food. Fully aware of the issue, she did not say nor do anything about the sanitary issue. It also looked like she was the waitress for everyone else in the establishment. I felt that this was extremely unprofessional. Although the food was decent, the price and service are definitely not worth the visit. I will try my best to never come again. read more

I have never had a bad meal here! It's funny when some people recommend what they think is "Mexican food" and then you try it and are very disappoint...but this IS authentic and very, very tasty! You have to try the El Pastor and the Tacos De Esada...totally worth a trip! The manager and staff and very friendly and after only a few visits they knew us and knew what we liked from our previous visits. Go and taste REAL Mexican food, you won't regret it!! read more

I visited this restaurant for the first time on 5/25 and had a very pleasant experience. The atmosphere was very inviting on the inside but it was a beautiful day so I sat outside. I ordered a combination meal and it was what you would expect, nothing too special but fair for the price. However, the level of customer service I received was exceptional. My servers name was Karla and she was so polite and prompt and honest and the entire experience just felt really genuine. I will definitely be returning here! read more

This is one of our go-to spots for special occasions! Very friendly staff, awesome food and amazing margaritas. We quickly became regulars when they first opened. Went there today for Cinco de Mayo and discovered a brand new extended menu with all kinds of cool new selections and even new drink specials including a "Mexican Mule", their spin on the famous Moscow Mule. Absolutely amazing!! We have been there many, many times since they opened and have never once had a bad experience. One of the waitresses always recognizes us and comes to give us a hug every time. We always feel welcome and accepted there. I would recommend them to anybody, especially those seeking authentic Mexican food for a decent price. They put Hacienda to shame, in my honest opinion. ^_^ read more

Fantastic food, always huge portions, and very reasonable prices. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is for the chips and salsa. Both are hit and miss - sometimes great sometimes bland. Other than that you can't beat them. read more

The atmosphere is really nice inside and they did a good job converting the place. The food was subpar, very dry chicken and shrimp. My friend said his steak was okay. The actual chips are good but I can pass on the salsa, it was more like marinara with cilantro. Their white cheese dip was good but their avocado dip wasn't that great (which could have just been that one). We got a pitcher of lime margaritas on the rocks and it had an orange color and taste to it, which was fine for us but they don't seem traditional. Once again, really good tho. I'd eat there again but I would rather have Hacienda any day over El Patron. read more

I was really excited when this place first opened, as it was within walking distance of where I was living at the time and it had potential to be some delicious Mexican munching. I was not excited anymore after eating there the first time. It's just, well, it's just kind of there. Honestly the only reason I gave them a second star was because you can order a quesadilla to-go and they'll have it ready for you in like a minute and a half and it's actually pretty good as far as cheese quesadillas go. The owner's of El Charro on Evansville's westside opened up this location recently. The prices are very reasonable, especially when compared to the portion size. At lunch they offer a $7 lunch menu that includes your drink in the price. Quality of food seemed good (fresh veggies, good cuts of meat). Friendly staff and very quick to refill drinks, chips, and salsa. They have done some major renovations on a location that was previously in need of serious updates and it looks great inside as a result! Will definitely be returning to this location! read more

I signed up for their email list to receive their weekly emails. I received an email for a free cheese dip and we drove over 20 minutes away to eat there and use it. I had it in my email on my phone and proceeded to show it at check out. The lady at the counter called the manager over and he stated that we could not use it because we had not printed it out. It does not state that on the coupon and I pointed it out to him and he said well someone came in three different times in a day and showed it on their phone so now it has to be printed out for his records. I again stated that that was not stated on the coupon and we had drove over 20 minutes away to eat at his establishment, in part because of the coupon, so we were not ones abusing this.
