I recently visited El Pellegrino in Cabo San Lucas with my family, and while the food was undeniably delicious, the experience left me with mixed emotions. I ordered the seabass with a white wine reduction and beurre blanc caper lemon butter sauce over mushroom risotto...absolutely divine! My sister had Baja-style fish tacos made with seabass, and they were hands-down the best I've ever tasted: crispy, fresh, and paired with ridiculously good pico de gallo and coleslaw. My dad went classic with a hamburger, and while he didn't request bacon, it came topped with it and a glaze of barbecue sauce essentially a bacon BBQ burger. It was juicy, flavorful, and the thin steak-cut fries were hot and addictive, eerily reminiscent of McDonald's (in the best way). My mom's shrimp in Baja-style wine sauce was bursting with flavor, served with rice, beans, and tortillas simply an outstanding dish. My brother-in-law had the flank steak, which looked amazing, though I didn't get a taste. Here's where things took a turn. The next day, my brother-in-law became violently ill--fever, chills, body aches, and vomiting. He suspects the culprit was the ice in his Coca-Cola, possibly made with unpurified water. It was serious enough to require medical attention, which understandably cast a shadow over an otherwise wonderful dinner. We arrived early for our 6 PM reservation and were the first ones there, but the place quickly filled up and mostly locals, which is always a good sign. It's a bit off the beaten path, so plan on taking an Uber, as there's not much nearby. While the food and ambiance, and service was excellent, the health scare was hard to ignore. Because of that, I'm giving El Pellegrino three stars. I truly hope it was an isolated incident, because this spot has serious culinary potential.
Last Tuesday we visited this restaurant for the first time after searching yelp for some options. The 6 of us in my family were so happy we chose this place! The food was so good! I had the pork shank and oh, those roasted potatoes with it were to die for! Margarita was awesome. Romeo was an amazing server!! We were especially happy that it was a nice indoor space with AC, to escape the persistent wind. My only critique is that the Cesar salad had a bit too much dressing, but was otherwise very delicious. We will definitely be coming back here on our next trip to Cabo!!
We stop in here every time we are In Cabo. They are a very friendly staff. On our recent visit, the younger guys were having fun with each other. It was good to see, and funny. The food is always good, love the mashed potatoes and the vegetable kababs. This trip the steaks were a little tough, but this has never been an issue. The steaks did however taste really good and were cooked perfectly. Always a high recommendation from us! They had Monday night football playing, we love football!
What an AMAZING place!! From the food, to the service you can't go wrong!!! We had a party of 7 and everyone devoured their meals. From the tuna tartar, rib eye, bacon wrapped, pasta, and dessert! This place is small but don't judge a book by its cover. They serve some 5 star food. Fantastic chefs, service and we felt at home. I highly recommend them when visiting Cabo. We were celebrating a 50th Birthday here and it was very memorable. Would come back and we highly recommend.
El peregrino was recommended to us by a local who knew that we loved another restaurant with similar menu. Best decision we made was to try it out first the service was absolutely top-notch. Romeo and the staff took really good care of us. The ambience was perfect nice and cozy but the food and the drinks definitely over delivered our expectations. It was so good that we went back the next day and had dinner highly recommend it.
Food was excellent! I ordered the octopus al ajillo and it was superb. The octopus was tender and tasty. My son had the ribs and he said it was also delish! Mango smoothie was huge and very refreshing. The servers were very welcoming and quite attentive. The place itself was not bad at all. If you want to take a break from hotel food and have your taste buds have a blast this is the place to go. Highly recommend
Great place off the marina area more downtown. I ordered a shrimp enchilada wow it was tasty not to spicy just right great great sauce the enchiladas were full of shrimp very tasty . Wife had the big shrimp in garlic sauce wow they were great we were in a big group so I got to try Donna's spare ribs man the were excellent. Service was excellent the staff very attentive it's known for a steak house I will pass I don't go to Mexico to have a good steak maybe San Antonio but not Mexico. Wife will not eat their red meat but seafood is the way to go try them you will like it

I'm staying at the Waldorf and I've eaten at both restaurants on property (Don Manuel's and El Farrallon) & I can assure you this food is SO MUCH BETTER and a fraction of the cost. Service is also top notch. We are here 2 more nights and are coming back again lol Vibes are cozy, Cadillac margs were amazing but quite frothy. Apps: caprese salad and Baja tacos started us off right. Mains: fettuccine basilico with shrimp, ribeye Everything amazing --
Absolutely amazing. The ceviche 3 ways had wonderfully diverse flavors. The tuna tartare had a little soy, a little sesame and a nice hit of fresh lime with salt and black pepper . The shrimp/pulpo ceviche was a little sweet, tomato flavor with a little flat leaf parsley. The shrimp agua chile was amazing as well with tart lime (maybe some lemon?) nice onion, some avocado. Awesome. Dinner: the Pulpo was by far the best octopus I have ever eaten. They managed to make a perfectly tender octopus that was finished on the charcoal grill with a great sear. The guajillo sauce was perfectly flavored. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. The rice was okay but I was already full so unnecessary. The pork shank was a must try. The adobo sauce is house made and all I'll say is: do NOT miss this dish. Side note: house made Cesar salad was fantastic as well. Come hungry my friends. They seem to cater to ex-pats - awesome service. Incredible food. Off the marina and well worth the short walk. Get here!!
Beyond amazing!!! We had great food while in Cabo and this place was the highlight of our trip. The prices are really good for the quality of food. Service could not have been any better. The inside is cute and clean and definitely way nicer than the outside leads you to believe. The food was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back here on every trip we take to Cabo.

We came here because we loved their sister restaurant so much we wanted to try the OG. We got right in on a Friday night without a wait. I ordered the pork ribs which were sensational, far too much food as is always the case in any Cabo joint. And yet, I still had to see if the Flan dessert was as good as it was at the other place. Bingo, it was. This tall (TALL!) flan was so rich and creamy and still light as a feather. and WOW, we thought the decoration on the plate was the plate itself, but it was decorative piping -- could've fooled me, the whole table marveled at the artistry. Just do yourself a favor and always order the flan - no matter how stuffed you are! read more

Food was excellent! I ordered the octopus al ajillo and it was superb. The octopus was tender and tasty. My son had the ribs and he said it was also delish! We ordered lamb, the Saturday Special, Vacio Steak, Octopus, and churros for dessert. They all tasted amazing and tender, and we were welcomed with amazing service! read more

Beyond amazing!!! We had great food while in Cabo and this place was the highlight of our trip. The prices are really good for the quality of food. Service could not have been any better. The inside is cute and clean and definitely way nicer than the outside leads you to believe. The food was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. Kind of known for daily specials. Last night was the flank steak and all the trimmings. Mashed potatoes and a great side salad. Abel was a great server and had my wife's rib eye cooked to perfection so the night is complete. Easy parking (words you don't hear in Cabo) and a fun crowd. Another local find!!! read more

10/10 highly recommend this place. The service is wonderful and the staff was so nice from the moment we walked in. We didn't have a reservation and even though it was busy we were offered a table. Absolutely amazing service and friendly staff. We got the surf and turf with the lobster tail which was tender and cooked perfectly to how we asked. The flavor was perfect. We also got the shrimp fajitas which come in a savory tomato beer sauce and the shrimp are perfectly cooked. The shrimp comes with homemade corn tortillas, you can get flour tortillas also, black beans, and guacamole. The salsa was great with a nice kick and flavor and hot. At the end of our meal the staff gave us a complimentary dessert wishing us a safe trip. Will be coming back here for sure. Drinks are strong and prices are pretty reasonable. It's a small place but I am so glad we tried it out. read more

Locals all said to come here, and people visiting all rave about this spot, so I had to check it out. I highly recommend that you make reservations or it'll be hard to get a table. We, however, did luck out as it was getting late, and they stated that if we wait, a group might get up. Low and behold, something became available, so I am grateful for that, or we would've had to come up with a Plan B. For food, bread with melted cheese came out complimentary, which was good. I ordered the Cerviche three ways, and it was a bit salty all three of them. I didn't like it as much, tried the mezcal infused melted cheese, and liked that a lot. So, at least one out of the two apps was good. I got the red wine sangria, and it was a bit watered down and hardly tasted the alcohol. For the entree, I got the Octopus, which came with white rice and veggies. I'm glad it wasn't just Octopus by itself. All in all, some dishes are a hit or miss. Hopefully, yours is a hit! read more

Always on my Cabo Must Dine Here List! I absolutely love this restaurant. The quality of food, drinks and service is fantastic and the ambience is nice with cloth tablecloths and napkins, air conditions and 2 walls of windows. Not on the main dinning streets, but will always be a main dining spot for our family and friends! The prices are so reasonable and the special of the day prices are ridiculously affordable! We went for the pork ribs and shanks and could not imagine them being any better absolutely delicious! As a bonus the ribs happen to be the daily special- $16 for super meaty tender pork wins slathered in sweet Texas style bbq sauce. Love love this restaurant! read more

Food was excellent, start to finish. The Asian Tuna Tartar was melt in your mouth delicious! We both loved our main courses (Seabass and mine shrimp and lobster both w/mushroom risotto) omg yummy!ended the night with a perfect flan. The Cadillac margarita was so good I only needed one. Service in ambience was also excellent. They also have their own little dirt parking lot which in town is fantastic. We've been coming to Cabo for at least 20 years and we can't recall a place where we both loved the food, service and ambience more. We will be back, no question!. We recently dined at this amazing restaurant a couple blocks off the main road from downtown. We had several adults and 4 kids in which the staff's accommodations were top notch. The service was fantastic. They even have kids options that were excellent. The adults enjoyed some delicious margaritas but the appetizers and main courses were out of this world! I highly recommend any of the seafood but especially the Tuna Tartare, Octopus and ceviche! The deserts were very good and sharing sizes. Wish I had a restaurant like this in my town, let alone in Oregon! I'll definitely be going back and recommending to friends and family. I forgot to take pictures before most of our meal was inhaled. read more

The ambience is definitely inviting as we initially passed by on foot headed to our hotel through Centro Cabo and the usual smells of charcoal and meat dancing through the air. My mind would not relent so the next day we stopped in and the place was packed around 5;30pm on a Monday. Wow my goodness with the smells deserve a review and by the smells I was really sure we were in the right place for a good quality steak. Ordering was a bit challenging as it was packed with two large parties of 8-10 people... which were very jubilant and drinks were flowing. Just a short preface to my review we don't drink so my reviews are all about the style decor and most importantly tastes or flavors. Which to me determines the overall value. Service was scored on a curve and as busy as they were it was no worry as good food comes with a cost. So on to the meal. To start we were served a basket of toast bread with diced tomatoes and roasted garlic on them almost like a hors d'oeuvre. We were pretty hungry so completely forgot to get pics, but wow we started great. Next came our entree which was served on a huge flat grill with great presentation. I could hardly wait but I couldn't help but notice the cut of one of the steaks (Vacio) was prepared quite different from my usual which is exciting to explore, but not so much in this case. This Vacio was served like a Arrachera steak only much thicker. Requesting my steak med rare but this steak had a hard blackened char. Also to note we order steaks quite differently I believe steak should be more rare and wifey likes them more on the done side. Which you can see I was confused as her New York looked more rare than mine. Being in this position as a customer is definitely not the best but cutting into the steak was very different and difficult because the grain of the meat is lengthwise not vertical and because of it being the Arrachara style was less than desirable because I literally had to smash the steak to cut it. Maybe the sides would support my satisfaction so on to the garlic mashed potatoes which were whipped very smooth and tasty. The salad was nice mixed greens with a light vinaigrette dressing. and there were these little spinach and cheese empanadas. I'm not the advance consumer of empanadas but though cute I found them dry and lacking significant ingredients to thoroughly taste. So back to my steak I rallied to cut my way to satisfaction... I hoped. Under the char I did find some steak that was more rare. Yes! After I got a few pieces of steak, but then I realized that my flavor profile was seriously lacking even something basic as salt and pepper. If it had possibly been seasoned there was not enough or it had simply been purged by fire. At this point I am searching for flavor I remembered that they provided a little cup of chimichurri . After I managed to cut a piece off I I generously dunked it and popped in my mouth but tasted nothing but oil and parsley. I like where's the salt and garlic?.... I managed to finish it by adding the mashed potatoes to each bite. Wifeys steak was American style and much better, however still lacking for the price and it's visually appealing presentation. Overall experience was ok, but not worth repeating for the money. I will add a review shortly of a much better steak restaurant in Cabo. read more

Got a little lost getting there from the cruise port so we suggest grabbing a pedal cab to get there and you'll find out how easy the walk back will be. Their seafood is incredible! My wife got a fried snapper that was amazing, I got some incredible fish tacos! Their margaritas are both huge and mixed perfectly! We also shared some huge shrimp. Prices were very fair, service was awesome, and the interior of the restaurant was great! Definitely going back on our next Mexican cruise! read more

On our last day in Cabo, we ended up coming to Peregrino as our last meal. This time, my BF and I had the Sonorense Asado (For 2)! This was definitely worth the price and the meat was cooked even better than the last time! Our service was excellent, our waiters Abel and Romeo took great care of us! Can't wait to come back. read more
