Full disclosure we are regulars at the Riberbank location. Got re routed on the way home and came in to Modesto through Paradise and recognized the name as I was driving into town. River place only offers chicken, pork ribs and the hand made tortillas. This place in Modesto/Paradise border is a full sit down restaurant. Very clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. Service was great but since I was getting it to go just grabbed a half chicken and beef rib-lets which they offer here along with a full menu. Hand made tortillas on point as in River location and same with the chicken which was nicely seasoned, crispy smoky skin and moist juicy meat. I like the riblets but they are not your usual fare they are crunchy beef jerky like but still tender and if you get some fat that is amazing, like chicharron!! I ate that with the bbq sauce and that was delicious, bbq sauce tangy and sweet. Salsas looked pretty good and so did the roasted green onions and jalapeño. 5 for service, 4 for the food and location vibe/ cleanliness was a solid 4.5 Need to come in for the dine in and try the rice, beans and other items in menu so super excited to come back.

After seeing a reel featuring this place on Instagram, I knew that I had to come to try out their ribs. Not living in the area, I had to plan a special trip for it. There is a small parking lot in front of the restaurant. I didn't come on a weekend and was able to find parking. Many people were eating at the restaurant but many more were taking the orders to go. We ate there. The restaurant sitting area was clean but the bathrooms could have been better. I personally decided to skip entering after hearing a description of what it entailed. Service was great, we told our cashier that it was our first time there and she was so helpful in answering all of our questions. We ordered 1/2 rack of pork ribs, 1/2 rack of beef ribs and a whole pollo asado. As drinks, we got Jarritos and a soda, even though their fridge was stocked, their selection was limited. They didnt have "clear" soda like Sprite or 7-up. All of the meats were cooked to perfection. The ribs, yummy! I like chicken, but not exactly my go to meat of choice, but since I came to try it all, I was not disappointed. The chicken was tender and flavorful. Icing on the cake...was eating the meal with the handmade tortillas ::chefs kiss:: We didn't get any sides, but they have a wide selection if you want to incorporate them into your meal like macaroni salad, rice and beans. Distance is a factor in not being able to come back often but I would definitely come here again and make it a point to stop by on my way through town.

The first time we came, it was just after this reel went semi-viral so there were a bunch of people lined up. Upon entering, the staff immediately let us know they were having issues with the kitchen and that they had no idea when it would be back up. We decided to leave and return another time. The second time, I made an online pre-order. I decided to get the meal deal for 4 (and a separate order of the blueberry biscuit fried chicken sandwich) for the most variety. This deal includes: - Chicken Option: 8 pc tenders, 16 pc wings, or 16 pc nuggets. I went with the 16 pc wings. They were heavily battered, and the wings were cooked through and still juicy. I wasn't too wowed by them though. - 2 Sides: I went with the honey mustard pasta salad and chipotle potato salad. The pasta salad was soggier than expected, but flavors of both were pretty good. Chipotle potato had a nice kick. - Loaded Wedges: This was literally a potato quartered into 4 wedges. Tastewise, I really liked the seasoning they used on the potato though. I didn't care for the loaded part (cheese, bacon bits, green onion). - Choice of 5 sauces: Personally, the best part of the meal. Their sauces are on point. I went with the strawberry heat, pineapple pepper, XXX, fuego, honey mustard (accident; I wished I had gotten the hot honey blueberry bbq instead). - 4 Can Drinks: Cool I guess, but wished the deal was focused on the food options. The separate blueberry biscuit with chicken was also only just OK. The biscuit wasn't fluffy or buttery and the blueberries were there visually only (barely any blueberry taste). The chicken was fine and not dry at least! The wait the second time around also wasn't bad. I scheduled a 12:15PM order, and I think I got my food about 15-20 min later. Overall, it was a good one-time try!

The service was amazing from start to finish. We ordered samosas, aloo tikki, garlic cheese stuffed naan, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and chole (the chickpea dish), along with rice. Everything was packed with flavor. The samosas were incredible, the aloo tikki was one of my favorites, and that garlic cheese stuffed naan was absolutely amazing. One thing I really appreciated was that the entrees came out in their own individual serving dishes. Everything looked great and tasted even better. We ended up with a ton of food, plenty of leftovers, and for three people the total was under $100, which was honestly impressive considering how much we ordered. As we were leaving, the gentleman who greeted us when we arrived checked on us and seemed concerned that we were taking food to go. I just wanted to make sure he and the restaurant know that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food. My family just isn't the type to sit in restaurants for long once we're full. We eat, enjoy our meal, and take the leftovers home. The food was beyond exceptional, the service was wonderful, and we will definitely be back. Thank you for such a great experience!

We had already placed our mobile order to eat at the restaurant, because sometimes they have specials on the app that they don't in store. Anyway, the employee has been rude to us several times, and we witnessed him barely walking to the customer's car for a carry out. He was moving at a glacial pace. Like he had no desire to take the person their food. Anyway, when we tried to dine in, he snapped at us and said we are closed! The dining room is already closed. Wtf?! They should make their hours clearly marked on the outside. AND...the guy I'm speaking of should have better customer service OR work somewhere where he does not have to work with people. We ended up canceling our online order, which is a nightmare. However, it is better than dealing with that employee.

I was excited when I found The Bussdown on Instagram last year and have been waiting in anticipation to try their food ever since. I noticed they started posting on their feed again and was excited when they announced that they'd be open from 2pm-7pm. I attempted to call in my order but had no response. Determined to try it, I drove to their site and saw they were still taking orders, so I got in line. When it was my turn to be helped, I was informed their fryers were down. They had other options, so I ordered the brisket, candied yams, + mac and cheese, and for dessert, caramel biscoff banana pudding. The total came out to $31. The lady that took my order said it would take about 20 minutes. 40 minutes later she informed me that they were just finishing up with my order, but they ran out of caramel for the dessert. When I finally got the food 5 minutes later, I took it to my car and gave it a try. I was disappointed off the bat. Apart from the food being lukewarm/on the colder end, I felt like the price I paid was not worth what I got. The Mac and cheese was not like anything I've tried before. It tasted like it had gorgonzola cheese which was not what i had expected/enjoyed. I thought the yams were tasty but lacking a punch. The brisket was tender but either needed to be seasoned a bit more or have more bbq sauce. The biscoff banana pudding was primarily Bananas, whipped cream, biscoff cookie and butter with a little bit of banana pudding. I really wanted to like the food but was disappointed with the whole experience.

Hot fresh chicken! That's what separates Cane's from KFC or…read moresome of the burger joints or frankly homemade Tyson nuggets. It's the "made to order" hot fresh chicken, unfortunately at this location now I've had two experiences that lead me to believe that this Motto has been lost on the management at this location.. I work in Modesto, but I live in Manteca, at least once a month on a Friday or Saturday night, my wife and I go to Manteca to a very busy Cane's location. Sometimes we wait 10-15 minutes but the chicken comes back piping hot and crispy. The bread is hot. The fries are crispy warm . Eventhough at my age, I don't need the calories, It's a special treat, I look forward to after working hard all week . On two occasions however, my patience was lacking and I stopped by the Modesto location . This last time I walked in ordered a box combo went to wash my hands literally 15 seconds later it was sitting on the counter that should've been my first clue. The chicken was warm, but not the usual hot chicken and it was oily and the oil kind of tasted a little bit rancid like it had been not changed in the appropriate time. The french fries were cold and limp and the bread was well. Just soft tepid Texas toast. Against my better judgment I continue to eat the chicken, hoping maybe the next piece would prove the last tender aberrant. Alas, I was wrong, but I could not help but to let the very nice people who work there, including the manager know that I felt that this was not made to order nor was it fresh and maybe it was left over from someone else's order or reheated. It would be physically impossible to make it fresh to order when it was boxed up on the counter in 15 seconds. Of course the manager proceeded to gaslight me and say they saw me coming through the parking lot, but I could've been ordering a sandwich or a drink. I admire their courtesy and professionalism, but just admit the truth. It was a slow day, which itself is unusual and maybe it result of others experiencing the same at this location. Needless to say, the moral of the story is : go on a very busy Friday night, ro a busy location where they have no choice, but to make your chicken to order as they are running behind. True Cane's chicken is worth the wait. I hope this is not a sign of the times. A prelude of what's to come with soaring inflation and high food prices. But I know Cane's has a winning formula and the good news is if this particular owner and management take pride in their work all will be good again with just three words: Hot fresh chicken! , I lied three more words, change the oil!.
