Really delicious, hot, freshly prepared meal! Highly recommend. Especially appreciated after exploring Yosemite National Park. No MSG in the food so wasn't sleepy as I continued driving Black Pepper Beef came on a sizzling metal pan and it was tender and so flavorful. Comes out piping hot steaming! Sauce black pepper fragrant and a bit salty and sweet House Chow Mein Noodles were excellent with a combo of beef, shrimp, cha siu pork, chicken and all the veggies. Nice wok hei flavor here! Bean sprouts were right texture not overcooked Veggie dish was sort of like a bok choy. Server recommended it and said it was grown on their property! Tasty with light garlic stir fry The server was so attentive and friendly. He is also so talented speaking English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish! We overheard him using all language skills across tables. Had dinner here on our way home. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived but quite a few more parties arrived shortly after us. You could tell people liked this place and many regulars were in picking up to go orders. The staff called them by name when they walked in. We were given open seating. We took a seat and browsed the menu. The server came over right away and got us some drinks. I ordered a cup of egg flour soup and it was delicious. We opted in to getting dinner combo plates. They were LARGE portions for a great price. Their orange chicken was one of the best I've have had in a while. The fried rice was flavorful but slightly on the salty side. Delicious Hong Kong style food!! Inviting and comfortable and incredible staff! Tommy is a gem! He welcomed us right in and made us feel like old friends! Stopped by for a latish lunch - our server was so friendly and had a great sense of humor, he made a due note of our vegan order and kept up the lively chatter with us and other customers as we waited for our food to arrive in the cozy dining area. It's American Chinese menu, not authentic Chinese. Basing it on this fact. Great service. Quick with the food. I'm giving this 5 stars because for American Chinese food, the flavors are great. We are Chinese, and we were coming down from Yosemite. We asked the server what was good and he was super honest saying nothing really "authentically Chinese," so we got garlic string beans, salt and pepper shrimp and Hong Kong Chow fun. I have to say, the string beans and shrimp flavors were on point. Server cautioned us that the shrimps did not come with shells (Chinese like shrimps with shells), but we were ok with that. So I took a chance. I ordered a veggie fried rice, orange chicken, chicken chow mein, and veggie spring rolls. Business is located where the Kmart used to be next to Mountain Mikes & the Dollar Store. Across from Save-mart. I ordered my food and then did my shopping at the store. I got a call that my food was done shortly so it didn't take too long. I was surprised how close business was to save-mart. The lady who took my order & checked me out was friendly! Business was small but looked clean. The portions were huge!! I had dinner for that night and the next as it was just my grandma & I . Next time I may order less or order a individual meal. This is my fav Chinese spot. Food here is always on point, price is perfect, and service is friendly and kind. The overall ambiance is exactly what one would expect. I really love their egg flower soup. It's great on a cold day or along side any meal. They also have really good appetizers. I have tried a few of their entrees. I have no doubt all are good but have personally had garlic chicken, orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, beef and broccoli, and Buddha vegetables. You will not be disappointed. I don't do seafood but my son swears by their honey walnut shrimp! Their pork fried rice and chicken chow mein are also excellent. Staff here are very friendly. If I could give negative stars, I would. I ordered lemon chicken and it had greasy red sauce on it. When I asked the older man what it was he said lemon chicken. I said it's red not yellow sauce and it didn't taste like anything. I asked for a refund and told him it was terrible and he said no refunds to take it or leave it. Terrible! Stopped in on my way back from Modesto to Sonora. I ordered the lemon chicken lunch special, which included pork fried rice, chicken chow mein and an egg roll. I was the only customer there, it was brought out to me in 2 minutes, barely warm. The lemon chicken tasted strongly like old cooking oil had been used to fry it, then topped with a nasty gelatin like red/orange substance that was apparently supposed to be sauce. I found one tiny minced piece of chicken in the chow mein and zero pork in the pork fried rice. The eggroll was stuffed with what tasted like cabbage mush. The waitress did briskly walk by my table giggling and said, "everything good?" but was gone before I could answer her. I won't be going back. read more
