I ordered the tostada bowl and it was mostly lettuce with barely any rice or beans, very little chicken, and the chicken that was there was dry and overcooked. The pico de gallo didn't even look fresh or appetizing. For spending $31, this felt like a complete waste of money. The portions and quality were nowhere near worth the price. Now I see why this restaurant is always dead. Small portions and gave me dried, old chicken. I ordered a three piece which was really a kids chicken leg and 1 thigh cut in half. There was hardly any meat and it was flavorless and dried out. The rice is horrible. They didn't separate my tortillas so they got stuck together and ripped when trying to take them apart. The Roja salsa was surprisingly spicy. That was the only good thing. This place is way too overpriced. You can get a whole pack of rice, beans and chicken for less than a meal here. I was in the area and drove thru for lunch. I was the only one in the drive thru and it took a couple of minutes for someone to ask for my order, and when she did, she was a little hard to hear. I am blaming masks as these are covid times. Though I appreciate places adhering to regulations. Anywho, I ordered the double chicken avocado salad with no sour cream and some avocado salsa. I was a little disappointed to see that they had put on sour cream and attempted to scrape it off, but the salad looked great. The container is a bit deceiving, as there is a lot more food in there than initially thought. The chicken was hot and fresh and had a lovely grilled flavor. The veggies were crunchy and I love cotija cheese. I would skip the citrus vinaigrette, it is pretty sweet for a vinaigrette, but they gave me plenty of the avocado salsa. It was good. It was really good. Fast food salsas rarely look like the picture or live up to expectations, but this absolutely did. It was fast, it was fresh, and after looking up the nutritional info, makes for a very healthy lunch. Again, not something fast food salads are known for. I was pumping gas right next to El Pollo Loco and saw that it was open for business, it was their grand opening actually. So I decided to stop on in to see what it was about. After walking in, we decided to look over the menu and decided to try it. They have a pretty cool setup when you walk in. They have this massive grill where all of these chickens are cooking in front of you as you are ordering. The chicken looks and smells amazing. We ordered the double chicken avocado salad and 2 chicken tacos and chips and queso. The Verdict: There must have been some communication error because I didn't get the double chicken avocado salad, we got the double chicken bowl. My wife wanted the one with corn in it. Regardless the chicken in that salad was really good. It was a good salad even though it was the wrong salad. The chicken tacos weren't all that though. They lacked flavor and there was no char to my tortillas. I don't like my tortillas raw, I like them warm and with a nice char to them. The queso was 'meh', not really all that. Their salsa verde at the salsa bar needed something, I just can't put my finger on it, but it wasn't all that either. It had NO heat to it. We may go back for the salad, and definitely some chicken pieces, but not for the chips and queso and if I order the tacos again, I will have to ask them to put those tortillas on the grill for a bit. read more

I enjoy coming here. I always get double salad as a side, and the Cilantro Dressing is great.

They have a nice clean dining area set up with social distancing and they are allowing dining in. Their food is freshly prepared and the counter staff is always friendly. I think it's cool that every time I have had lunch here a staff member comes out into the dining room and stops to check on every table. That's top notch service and uncommon for fast food, I really like it. An added plus is El Apollo Loco has sweetened iced tea! I always appreciate that. I like their chicken nachos but I have to admit that beef nachos are still my favorite. The chips are a different texture that I'm accustomed to. These aren't light, crispy tortilla chips, they're thick and don't have added seasoning. The salsa helps and there are mild to spicy choices. I definitely like the way they do fast food here, it's excellent. Just on a side note the music is pumped up loud in here each time I've been. read more

My first visit here, and I liked the set up and decor in here right away. It's a spacious and open establishment, and clean as well. I came at a time when it was not busy, so I received my order fairly quickly. My sides were good, the salad was crispy but the chicken was a little on the dry side. After living in a food desert for over a year, some restaurants started popping up closer to my home after Walmart opened. El Pollo Loco opened a few months ago and I received numerous coupons in the mail. Last Friday I decided to drop by El Pollo Loco to see what all the hype was about and use a coupon for the $5 pollo loco nachos. The nachos actually weren't bad. They were fairly tasty and a decent size. I enjoyed the chicken, queso, guac, and I even added jalapeños to the mix. I recently joined a weight loss challenge so I won't be a frequent patron of El Pollo Loco unless I drop by for a salad but I will definitely be back to sample more of the menu. read more

Decided to give them a try today for lunch. I was really expecting it to be better. The staff was very nice and the restaurant is very nice on the inside but the food was very disappointing. The chicken was dry to the point that the skin was like chicken jerky and it was flavorless. The beans lacked flavor and the mac & cheese tasted like it came from a frozen dinner.
