I must say that I've eaten El Pollo Loco so much more than I used to ever since they moved from over right by the freeway to the other side of the street I'll Carson by The Long Beach town center. I've always interacted with friendly employees here but one stands out above the rest in my opinion and his name is Daniel. I know that when I place an order, when I come in and see Daniel, that it's going to be correct. I know there is going to be everything in the bag that I ordered; the sauces, the utensils, the napkins, everything! He is friendly, professional, courteous, and I definitely appreciate being able to interact with him when I come to pick up food to feed my family. The quality of the food here is always great, portions are what they should be and the one time I interacted with the manager, he was very friendly, professional and courteous too. What a disappointment and a waste of forty bucks!! Ordered the 8 pc meal and it was the worst I have ever had from an El Pollo. The chicken came in very small pieces, dried, overcooked and barely edible. The wings and tiny little legs couldn't be salvaged they were so gross. I'm still debating on bringing it back. I'm giving this location 1 star for two reasons. When I walked in there was no one in line. Maybe two people dining so it was empty. I had a coupon and told the cashier what I wanted. She said go ahead and use the kiosk. She wasn't busy so I was like ok.? I struggled a bit with ordering so I asked if she could just do it. She said I had to use the kiosk. That was so annoying! I placed my order and received all my food. When I got home I had no salad dressing for my salad. And the beans I ordered were basically all liquid and enough beans for one person! I was greeted promptly when I enter the restaurant. The service by Marilyn was great. I am very particular about my food so, I know what I want and how I want it. Marilyn took my order very patiently and repeated my order every time I requested something to ensure my order was taken correctly. My experiences from other locations are the orders were taken correctly and even the receipt showed the correct order. However, when I actually received my order, there usually was something I didn't order and the amount of the salsa or Serrano peppers weren't correct. With Marilyn, my order was delivered correctly with first try. I really appreciate her professionalism and friendliness. She made my ordering experience so much easier. The only reason this review only received a 4-star rather than 5 is because the food I received. Please see attached photos, this is the first time I received an order with the chicken skin wasn't crispy and the color was yellow, which doesn't look that appetizing. The food looked and tasted better after I put them in the air fryer for 4 minutes. Perhaps, this is a one off thing, maybe they don't want me to wait too long. First off I would like to thank Arlie for taking the time to works with me on ordering. Having just arrived in the area from a flight into LAX my wife and I were hungry and tired from traveling. We do not have El Pollo Loco's where we live in MN. and have some dietary issues with bell peppers and raw onions. It took a little "coaching" from Arlie and we made our order and loved it when it arrived. It was a great eating experience and I saw nothing or tasted anything bad that would stop us from going here again. I used the app to order a combo chicken meal and my chicken breast was super dry the skin was dried out and hard and my wing was burnt and super small. But you see every time I visit this location the chicken is over cooked or even like when I went there before my burrito was cold. So I give up on this location because now even the prices are ridiculously high. So I will look for a healthier option from another establishment. The chicken is cook to perfection, the chips still hot when it got picked up and they're not stingy with salsa. Mac n Cheese is to die for and the Spanish rice is delicious, and most importantly our order is ready by the time we picked it up. We're greeted by the staff and before we could even ask for utensils we were told that everything is in the bad already. I strongly recommend this place if you guys have any catering In the future. While ordering, it hit me, I'm soooo hungry so I ordered the 2 piece Breast & Wing, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy (for Dad) and Loco Salad (for me) with flour Tortillas. I requested extra pico de gallo, scanned my QR code for my points, Apple Pay then grabbed my food and headed home. I've been coming to this spot well over 10 years and my order has always been right. I understand companies are still struggling to hire employees because of the pandemic, I, however, do not believe that is an excuse for poor crappy customer service or food quality. Again, the Customer Service overall is excellent. The food quality is zero stars. I like El Pollo because they have great chicken and some healthly options for fast food. It's a good place to go when you are trying to avoid the typical burger/fries or typical drive-thru taco stands. This restaurant is located near a lot of businesses, so when I visit for lunch, it can be quite busy. Parking can be an issue at times, as traffic is very busy on Carson during the afternoon and the car wash next door, with attendants drying cars out in the parking lot, can make parking feel, well...claustrophobic. This El Pollo is nicely decorated, however, I often find the tables here messy and uncleaned during lunch hours. They get a large lunch crowd so it is somewhat understandable, however it just looks horrible seeing trash overflowing the bins, dirty trays stacked and food marks on the tables. The sauces and condiments are right next to the line and soda dispensers making it difficult to get those items for your meal. The Original Pollo Salad is a good salad option. The chicken and crisp corn with the avocado dressing is delicious. The chicken in El Pollo Loco always has that wonderful citrus distinct taste. I'd like to give a 4 star rating, the staff here is friendly, but the restaurant needs more clean up during busy times. read more

This used to be one of our top EPL locations, but in recent times it has been one of the worst in service, wait time, and getting the orders right. We normally place orders for pickup but even when we go through the drive-thru our orders are almost always wrong and the customer service is terrible. Management needs to train better and make sure that everything is in top shape. This is such a poor showing at such a good location. Management needs to do better at quality control. read more

Pretty decent El Pollo Loco in a not-so-great location. As I pulled into the El Pollo Loco on the northeast corner of Carson and Paramount, I was immediately greeted by cars from the next door car wash. I had to swerve into the other lane to avoid those cars. Luckily, there wasn't a car coming my way, so I made it to the drive thru without a dent. The lot around El Pollo Loco is still so small that going through the drive-thru is almost your only option. When I went through, a couple cars were ahead of me, but I had to wait for a few minutes before I could order. I had a coupon for a $5 double entree, and I decided to go for their Ultimate Double Chicken Burrito. They made it pretty quick. I waited longer to place my order than to pick up my food after placing the order. The burrito itself was very good! It came with a rather big cup of cilantro dressing. The cilantro dressing was good too, but I thought Taco Bell sauce or any kind of salsa would have been a better fit for the burrito that I had. I should of used my better judgement and just left. The salsa bar was unclean, more than half empty and a mess. Note: This used to be my preferred EPL, because it's right next door to the EPL regional office and was usually ALWAYS kept spotless and service was impeccable. Until now. I guess the manager and employees figure that no corporate managers from next door would be popping by at 730 on a Saturday night.
