I ordered enchiladas suiza (little too sweet for my taste but the salsa added on top balanced it out nicely) and husband had the giant seafood burrito plate (the sauce on that burrito was tasty)! Portions are huge, service was excellent and swift, and food flavor was 9/10. Staff was friendly and everyone looked like they were having a good time. Many guests were recognized by staff. Seems like a nice family friendly atmosphere. By the time we left, parking was overflowing and line was out the door. This is a local hot spot and I'm glad we checked it out. I ate lunch at El Porton a week ago Wednesday. Their Chili Verde with rice and beans is only $12.95. I always order two fried eggs on top--it's only $2.50 more, and well worth the pairing of flavors it all delivers. Add to that the generous basket of chips, cup of salsa, and warm corn tortillas with butter, that come with the meal--this is a real feast! This is one of Wenatchee's oldest Mexican restaurants; you can tell by the decor, inside and out, this is a well established restaurant with a complete menu that serves all the traditional entrées you expect. The facility is clean with plenty of seating and a separate bar area in the rear. (See the pics!) There's parking on three sides of the building, and even at noon there were five waiters on the floor who cover for each other. I think all five stopped at my table at one point or another. I was in Wenatchee for the weekend for the annual Oktoberfest which used to be held in Leavenworth but got moved because of COVID. First year of Oktoberfest, gotta stay the night! My friends and I wanted to eat somewhere popular or well-known in Wenatchee, and that's when a friend who's lived there recommended this restaurant! It's located on a small lot across of PetSmart and Grocery Outlet. There are some stalls around the restaurant but could be difficult to get during lunch and dinner rush hours. The restaurant and parking lot were packed when we went. We were lucky that we were able to score a parking stall and also a table of 4 was leaving right as we arrived, so no wait times for a table. Score! To start off, we got chips with semi-spicy salsa and non-spicy salsa (cabbage kind). There was free refills on the chips and honestly, we all wanted the refills but knew we wouldn't finish the foods we ordered LOL. I got the Fish Tacos which came with two. I actually thought it would just be two tacos, but it also came with refried beans and rice! Such a huge plate (peep at pic)! The fish tacos were also suuuuper good! So so much flavor in it. It came with an aioli that I drizzled on top of which was soooo good. I also added the semi-spicy salsa on it to give it a little more kick. Great choice! The refried beans and the rice were a great side to have with my tacos. My boyfriend and friends all enjoyed their food. I tried each of theirs, and I actually really liked the Pollo a la Crema. Suuuper rich with a TON of food! If I had that, it would be another two meals for me LOL. my friend wasn't able to finish it either. Great place for HUGE portions of food for great quality and price! We have eaten here for years. Very nice people great food. Some mistakes here and there. But always fixed. But recently ordered food. Wife went picked up brought home we are 10-12 minutes away got home. Started going through food. And 2 orders were wrong. Ordered 2 nachos with beef. Said clearly beef. Never said chicken hinted at chicken said beef. They made and packed 2 chicken nachos. I've been trying for over an hour to call. I'm not driving down. El Porton Mexican Restaurant was a bustling place around 5 pm on a Friday night on 20 August 2021. Circling the parking lot with my uncle trying to find parking, there was just one spot open. The spot was not easy to pull in to though, so we ended up parking in another spot that opened up. While the place was busy when we arrived, we were soon to get a table. This was not the case by the time we left, then the line had started to get long. The workers were quick, friendly, and not too overbearing. As for food, I ordered the Carnitas de Pollo, which came with rice, beans, lettuce with guacamole, and tortillas. It was absolutely delicious. If I came here after one of my 2-3 hour intense exercise sessions, the portion was large enough it would fill my ravenous belly. Without that hunger from a lengthy workout, it was the perfect serving size for dinner plus some to-go to eat as leftovers. We did not order dessert, something for another time. Decor and seating was a home run as well. We got a booth. The upholstery matched the colorful interior decorations and was very comfortable. Tables were also available. As the restaurant was busy, there was a fair amount of noise generated by the different conservations going on at once. El Porton is a mainstay in our "Mexican" restaurant rolodex for both take-out and dine-in dining. We have lived in the area now for about ten years and have seen a lot of "Mexican" restaurants come and go. El Porton has stayed the course and keeps a steady clientele enjoying "Mexican" food in this region. You'll notice that I keep using the term "Mexican" in quotations as the food although classified in this genre, I would classify it as more "Tex/Mex" than true authentic Mexican, but it does satisfy the appetite with more than enough tasty food at reasonable prices when the need arises. Having two favorites from here personally as the #23 Chicken Chimi & Chicken, Cheese, and Onion Enchilada Grande Combo for around $15 you can go wrong and have enough for heating up leftovers at the office the next day. Or I will often go with the Pork Carnitas or Chili Verde. Both of these dishes never fail to satisfy me either. And did I mention the cabbage salsa served with chips when you sit down??? This is done right with a nice citrus touch and not overburdened with cilantro. El Porton knows how to kick out a great Tex/Mex dinner for the whole family while keeping the bill reasonable. One point of note trying to call in a to-go order during prime time dinner hours on a Friday or Saturday night may be a lesson in futility as they are often so busy I have found I never get through. The staff is decent (aside from still wearing masks), the owner is attentive and personable. The cabbage salsa is mediocre. The red salsa is ok as well. The food is average - a step above fast food if you ask me. Being vegetarian and gluten free, there aren't many options that are very exciting. Perhaps one or two dishes done well for vegetarians/GF would make it more appealing. But this place is far from my "go-to" for Mexican Food. Not the best Mexican food in the wenatchee valley.. Service was good. Prices weren't high, but the food wasn't satisfying at all. I had the enchiladas de jaiba (imitation crab) turns out it was real Dungeness crab! For $16 it's not bad getting two enchiladas right!? Unfortunately I feel a bit sketchy, I've had dungeness many times and it's never been so cheap. Flavor was really fishy which seams like the crab was old, sauce tasted was fake (out of a can), not so sure about the beans since they were refried and covered in cheese, the rice was dry and hard. Luckily they gave me enough sour cream to mask some of the flavors. Salad was basic. If it wasn't for a decent michelada and prompt service I would of given 1 star. read more

Okay, I'm not sure what the positives are to this place to warrant the more positive reviews I've seen but frankly, I was kinda grossed out by the place. Parking is problematic with narrow access around the building. Walking in, you get a good look at the kitchen which was incredibly filthy. I wish I could have posted a picture here but I wasn't able to get near enough to take a good one. Food and trash all over the floor and counters in the kitchen. Really nasty. Now, I'm not so naive to think that restaurant kitchens don't get dirty, I've seen a few in my time, but this was exceptionally bad. Our table had just been cleaned yet there were large crumbs and pieces of food in plain sight on the surface. Cleanliness seems to be a consistent issue here. Seated fairly promptly, appetite gone, so ordered a Cadillac Margarita (my benchmark for a Mexican restaurants booze) and contented myself by munching on chips and salsa. The chips were somewhat heavy, not fresh tasting, and room temperature. The red salsa was thin and had little to help it stay on the chip. It ran off the chip like water off of a ducks back. Lol The cole slaw salsa was adequate. Drinks arrived and surprisingly was pretty good. For seven bucks I got a pretty good drink.... The tequila was definitely there but not overpowering. My wife's drink was also good. There is not a bar, per se, where customers can sit and drink, instead there is a bar in the back that serves the customers in the restaurant. The walls are hard and sound echos throughout the dining room making it difficult to hear the person across from you or your server. Granted, this is kind of a pet peeve of mine but noise levels can be attenuated with proper interior decor and honestly, I don't think there is any excuse for it. Having to yell to be heard does not add to the ambience unless you are at a Seahawks game. Lol On a bright note, our server Izabella was attentive, friendly, and had a nice smile. In contrast, several of the other servers looked and acted grumpy and not happy to be there. We were the advance party for a large group of folks who meet a couple of times a week for dinner and drinks and El Porton was on the docket to try next. We were only there ten minutes before waving off the group and sending them somewhere else. We, and they, will not be dining at El Porton. read more

I'll give it five stars for the service. Food was zero stars. Overall, we won't be back. Ever. Went there tonight for my wife's birthday and I gotta say the food was abysmal at best. My wife ordered a simple plate with enchilada and pork taco. She said the pork was inedible. I got the "tender strips of beef" with bell peppers and a sauce and literally it tasted like cube steak in tomato sauce out of the can. My daughter had fish tacos and she couldn't stomach them. Typical high volume restaurant where food for five diners was out in less than 10 minutes... no way this is fresh and it reflected in the texture and flavor.
