Packed on a Monday, building is a bit small. Server was very friendly and attentive despite it being so busy! Super generous with the chips and salsa ( we ate far too many)- the star is the the cabbage slaw they serve with the chips. I'd be happy with an entire container of just that!!!! We enjoyed our meal (the chicken in the enchiladas was so tender and flavorful!) and have leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Food is always good. I would say this is the only good restaurant left in Wenatchee. The place is always busy even on random weekday during dinner time. Haven't had a bad experience at this place even when servers are swapped with tables. Only down side is the parking which sometimes prevent us from going because they're always full which tells you that they live up to the food. I was last here about 15 years ago, and remembered La Fuente favorably, so wanted to try it again. I ordered Cheese Enchiladas with Rice and Beans. This may not be one of Fuente's signature entrées, but it presents the basic flavors (sauces, cheeses and spices) that are the foundation for most of the other meals. I was delighted to be served fresh chips and salsa made in house, and a huge dish of "Curtido" (cabbage, carrot, onion, light vinegar--a popular relish usually spiced with oregano, and fermented). This was not fermented, but still very tasty with a natural vegetable sweetness. I liked it, especially recognizing it is not offered in most Mexican restaurants. The cheese enchiladas were the minimum of ingredients--corn tortillas with a white cheese filling and a very mild enchilada sauce, with sprinkle of cheddar on top, melted and served with very plain pinto beans and very standard rice. La Fuente prides itself in serving "traditional Mexican cuisine", but I would call it cuisine meant to please everyone without offending anyone. I would expect (and I would have enjoyed) diced onions in the enchiladas, chili powder in the sauce, and a recognizable bacon flavor in the refried beans. This would have been a more complex flavor profile that would have made me want to finish the meal. I'm not complaining. The meal was satisfying enough. Just wow. Easily the best Mexican food in Washington state. My resume: southern California native, spoiled by an abundance of great mexican food. Everything was very well prepared and seasoned excellently. Service was friendly even though the restaurant was very busy. The start of the show is the food though--I got the chicken taquitos, and the chicken was perfectly cooked and still moist--typically chicken is dry in restaurants. For the care and expertise that the chicken was cooked with, that is what gives this place its 5th star. The horchata was great too, and the mole sauce was incredible too. If I lived in Wenatchee I would absolutely be a regular. This is an absolute must stop if you are ANYWHERE near the area. I would EASILY drive from Leavenworth here just for dinner. read more

It was a super hot day. We wanted Mexican food and came across La Fuente. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated by a friendly staff member. Chips and salsa arrived quickly as well as ice water. Our server was prompt and also friendly. I ordered 2 chicken tacos, rice and beans. My partner got the enchiladas verde. Both meals were delicious and filling. The inside is a little tired but did not affect my impression of the restaurant. Music was nice. read more

Have y'all ever tried shrimp cocktails at Mexican restaurants? We have family in Missouri that love them and got me hooked so when we were at this place in Wenatchee, I decided to try theirs. It is served warm - the ones in Mo are cold - and it was delish. I ate half (along with chips and salsa) and took the other half home for lunch the next day. Both days it was amazing. The shrimp are huge, cut up, and it's got a tomatoey broth and some veg in it: celery, chopped up tomatoes, onion, avocado and cilantro. It's sooo good. Randy ordered the chili rellano and was very disappointed. It was a very small pepper and the batter around it was quite eggy. Similar to scrambled eggs - someone used way too much egg and no breading on the very small pepper. So that's why three stars. Won't go back because he only orders chili rellano and we will keep searching when we're in the area for a good place for both of us. I highly recommend the shrimp cocktail if you do go. I hardly ever eat Mexican food with the family. My wife and daughter likes gringo Mexican food. I like tacos. La Fuente seemed like just another gringo place that I wouldn't like. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and 3 carne asada tacos for takeout. The food was prepared and given to me in a timely manner. They also give chips and salsa for all orders. The carne asada tacos had a good amount of meat. Cilantro, onions and salsa were provided for the tacos. The tacos were pretty big. I don't know if there are any taquerias in Wenatchee, but, I thought that the carne asada tacos were good for the area. The enchilada came with sour cream, guacamole, and other things that my gringo Mexican food loving wife likes. The chips were okay. They were free. This is probably a 3 star spot in Southern California. But, Washington people and my wife likes this kind of food. I'll be nice and give them 4 stars. read more

Great visit. We had been driving all day and were hungry and tired. We decided to try La Fuente. As we walked un, we saw a sign saying it was Fajita night. The aroma as you walked in was amazing! 2 of the 4 in our party tried the Fajitas. I had the shrimp Fajitas. This was the best fajitas i have ever had!! Very tasty. Good size portions. I love old school Mexican style food and this place gave off those great vibes! What even surprised us most was they have a sister spot in the Seattle area near where we live. The wait staff was quick and got us two kinds of salsa including one that had thin cuts of cabbage along with a nice serving of chips. I got the combo beef enchilada and chimichanga that came with a big side of beans and rice. We also got the carne asada especial strip steak with prawns that was yummy. The other dish was the prime rib steak with sautéed prawns and mushrooms and this was our favorite dish. If you ever find yourself in Wenatchee give it a try! read more

Amazing food. On our way from north cascade to Seattle, we stopped in this great restaurant for lunch. The food does not disappoint. I got carne asada, which was grilled beef, rice, beans and a bit of guacamole they also brought tortilla chips and salsa before the food gets ready which I am super grateful because I was super hungry. When I arrived there was only one parking spot in the back, which was the first sign this place was popular. I ordered arroz con pollo and pollo asado chipotle. We also received a bag of complimentary chips and two small sides of salsa. Everything was delicious! The portion sizes were large and lasted a few extra meals the next day. The only complaint I would have would be that the guacamole that was on the pollo asado chipotle was brown. It was unappetizing and I would rather it not have been omitted from the dish. I had the carne asada. Comes with guacamole, rice, and beans, and tortillas. I love the grilled jalapeño on the plate. The carne asada was cooked to perfection and tasted so good. The beans, hands down, were one of the best I've had since moving to Washington. The flour tortillas were fresh and just perfect. I had a blended Cadillac and asked they throw in some jalapeños. That was so refreshing. And a giant one only cost $11.99. What a steal. I would definitely come back again and again. And try other menu items. I was blown away at how good the food was. This place used to be an icon of the valley. The last few times I've been here I've received sub par service. Last nights service was another fine example of how badly they've continued to disappoint. The waiter failed to refill bottomless drinks. Took almost ten minutes to get the check to us and what really set the mood was when ordering our dishes, he was rushed and nonchalantly listening especially when trying to give directions on how we wanted a dish prepared for one of our kids who doesn't like cheese on his burritos. Overall, it was a disappointment- AGAIN. Won't be wasting our money here anymore. There's enough competition in town that I think do a far better job at serving the customer and actually acting like they care. This place has lost its charm and appeal once and for all. read more
