Food was amazing but the noice was so loud. The musics is so loud you can even have a conversation with the person next to you.

First time visiting this location looking for authentic Back home meals. It was pretty empty just 2 servers and 1 cooker. We order alcapurrias as starter and a passion fruit mojito, even tho it was some what empty it was taking bit longer , for meals we order a Mofongo with conch , shrimp, and octopus it was delicious however they only put 3 shrimps on the plate , also a Mofongo with chicken , skirt steak and fried Pork and again 3 shrimps. The second meal we thought it could be better the meats potions was very very small amounts but it was pretty good , not worth the actual price. Over all it was pretty good. For all items we pay 100$ which it was little more than expected.

I've been to this place a couple of times, all times the food has been really good with the exception of the white rice for some reason nearly every time it's been cold, next time I'll just make sure I order something they have to make to order. Nonetheless the food is delicious. If you're in the neighborhood looking for good Puerto Rican food give it a try.

I've only ordered the fried Red Snapper with tostones, rice and beans. Really good. Only place in the area that sells whole red snapper.

    Extra charges

The food was good but kind of pricey. Be aware of the extra charge they're ridiculous 20% service charge plus 3.41 for credit card charge plus they ask for tip.

I always buy food from this restaurant as I love their food. But today I was very disappointed. I ordered pollo a la milanesa and I received a burned breaded chicken hidden under the cheese. I couldn't even cut the chicken as it was very hard. I know everything is expensive but is not fair to receive something that I couldn't eat.

Pork - dry, flavorless, soggy hairy skin Macaroni salad -…read morehard, need more cooking (NOT ALDENTE) it was kinda raw Morcilla- not typical puerto rican flavor, maybe fried yesterday and warmed up today Cuajito - looked like south American soup / definitely not authentic PR cuajito Arroz con gandules- ok. Warmed up from yesterday. Looking at the pan you can tell it has rewarded in the same pan. Additional side pork order- they gave me the scraps they were trying to get rid off along with bones and charged me almost $8 Overall service- staff taking my order was welcoming and patient. Person cutting the meet seemed to be in a bad mood. The person at register was ok untill I asked her to replace the dry meat and bones from my side pork order and actually give me meat I could eat. She stated the serve costilla not cerdo her response was so unbelievably dumb I chose to ignore it and asked her to put meat in my order. Her attitude and service changed negatively. This was a great spot, very sad to see that the taste and quality of food has went down drastically. Also, why were there no Puerto Ricans there? Could it be that there are ppl from other countries attempting to match the flavor now instead or authentic food? The lady stated owner was nit available for me to show him the food. Maybe he will see it here instead. They are also in a quick hurry to ask you to leave a review before you even try your food

I haven't been here in awhile. I was craving their pasteles and decided to stop by…read more It was right about pass 5pm when I entered the place and they close at 6/7pm I think on weekdays. The hot plates on the steam area were almost empty pans - All they had left was yuca, white rice, arroz gandules, tostones, macaroni salad, lechon asado, roasted chicken, pasteles from what I recall. I opted a plate dinner - it comes with rice, meat and 2 sides. The lechon asado looked good with the roasted crispy skin. I was not sure how they plate the lechon asado as in how much you get. They do not speak english much but they try to understand you and what you want. So when she was slicing up the lechon asado - She kept asking i guess if the portion was ok - I was afraid that if I kept asking more meat they might up charge my $13.99 plate. In total i recieved 5-6 pieces of Lechon asado. Along with arroz gandules - yuca and macaroni salad. The Lechon Asado was delicious. Crispy skin and juicy meat. It was seasoned well. You can taste the roast taste from the meat - So this place is known for this - This is why its a best seller kind of meat here. Yuca - It was tender soft but tasted spoiled. It had a smell to it - I guess because I got it later of the day - The yuca just sat in the hot steamer all day - It had a somewhat sour taste to it. I did not continue to eat it in case I would get food poisoning. Arroz Con Gandules - It was seasoned well and good texture on the rice. You can taste some type of smokiness on the rice. Macaroni Salad - This was bland for me. It needed some seasoning but I still ate it because the yuca was not up to par as far as taste. I can make better Macaroni Salad than this. The pork pasteles was delicious. Seasoned masa and the texture was buttery smooth. The filling was pork not much on it no olives raisins or bell pepper. It was still a delicious pasteles. The pork had a taste of smokiness - They are known for roasted lechon so the pork in the pasteles is delicious.- They only sell / make pork pasteles here. Come here for the lechon Asado - Its very delicious.

With so many positive Yelp reviews, we had to try this place out!…read more Lomo Saltado - asked for medium rare and definitely came out way more cooked than we would have liked, but it was still good, but could have been better. Ceviche Clasico Mixto - yummy! I don't think you can go wrong with their ceviches. They seem to experts in making ceviches. Mofongo Pulpo Anticuchero - the grilled octopus was soooo good! Chicharron de Pescado - this was sooo good! Our server was super nice and attentive. Thank you! Definitely would come here again.

We visited Bongos Restaurant for my brother's birthday after he mentioned it had great reviews…read more What caught his attention was the fusion of Peruvian and Puerto Rican cuisine, and since we're originally from Peru, we always love trying new Peruvian spots. The restaurant itself is cute and well-decorated, and it wasn't busy when we visited (Thursday around 6:30PM). Our server was friendly and attentive, and when we asked where the chef was from, she said Peru--which we later found out wasn't true (an important detail you'll soon see why). Food & Experience We ordered a variety of dishes to try: What we loved: * Sushi Acevichado - Great flavor and well-prepared. * Torta de Chocolate & Mousse de Maracuyá - Both desserts were delicious. What disappointed us: * Sopa de Pollo - The soup was loaded with potatoes, which wasn't an issue, but when we asked if it could be split into two bowls, the server said no. Instead, she offered to bring an extra bowl for us to do it ourselves, which felt like an odd policy. * Lomo Saltado - The charcoal flavor was so overpowering that it wasn't enjoyable, and the fries didn't taste homemade. * Aeropuerto - Not to my liking at all. The chicken was overcooked, and the chaufa's flavor was off, likely due to a different soy sauce (siyau) being used. * Trio (Fried Calamari, Chaufa de Pollo, Ceviche de Pescado) - The fried calamari arrived cold and gooey, the chaufa had the same flavor issue as the Aeropuerto, and the ceviche was just okay. When the chef came to our table, we asked what part of Peru he was from--and that's when we found out he wasn't actually Peruvian. This might explain why some of the traditional Peruvian flavors were missing or off. Would we come back? Probably not. There are so many better Peruvian restaurants we've tried. If we're in the area, we might consider giving it another shot with different dishes, but we wouldn't go out of our way to visit again. (Nice atmosphere, good desserts, but underwhelming Peruvian flavors.)
