As a Caribbean woman my palate and my tummy were HAPPY! Well seasoned food, clean restaurant, great customer service, this place made my out of town friends super happy. Came during World Cup on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't packed but there was a steady stream of families and people who work in the area. Later into the afternoon more people started to come for the late games and Happy Hour drinks; not sure if they have drinks specials as this was a "dry work meeting." I had the 1/2 chicken, rice, black beans, plantains, and a mocktail. I will be back again to try more of their menu. read more

On our family trip down to Orlando, we were staying right next to this popular Latin cafe. Their menu was huge and had lots of different classics from arepas, sandwiches and grilled meats. I enjoyed the sandwiches we got as they were absolutely stuffed and loved the shredded pork. The grilled steak was also very good and had a nice char flavored that paired well with their chimichurri. The assorted platter we got was just ok as a lot of the meats were dry (possibly cuz they were cooking too many meats at once?). Overall I would say this restaurant was pretty good and had lots of variety so there are options for everyone to choose from. We had an excellent meal at Sofrito Latin Cafe. We arrived right before closing, and they graciously allowed us to dine in, which we really appreciated. The food was amazing. I had the Cubano sandwich, and it was one of the best Cubanos I've ever had. At $11.95, it was also an incredible value--the sandwich was large enough to completely satisfy my appetite. My wife had the salmon, which was phenomenal. It was perfectly cooked, but the real stars of the dish were the boiled Yuca al Cilantro and the plantains. It is my duty to come here every few years to remind everyone how much I love this place. I don't go there nearly enough, but I went yesterday and it reminded me just how good they are. We visited around 3:15pm on a Saturday and ordered at a tablet. I got a pernil with plantains and my companion got a churrasco. I also got their limited time St Paddy's day mocktail. It was kind of like a virgin apple mojito and it was really good and refreshing. The pernil was excellent as usual: well sauced and tender and juicy. The churrasco was beautifully cooked and seasoned. They always knock it out of the park here with their meats. The plantains were of course delicious as usual, and the service was great. My only comment is that I could've sworn that this place had Alfajores a few years ago. I could be wrong, but I vaguely recall them being delicious and I was sad to not see them on the menu this time. Any way you roll the dice, you won't regret coming to sofrito. We stopped by Sofrito's one of her go-to restaurants in Orlando on our return home from Disney Springs. We had what we always order and both were not as tasty as they normally are. My wife had the Chimchurry steak and it was a piece that was quite tough and hard to chew; but, still a pretty good flavor. I had the 36 hour braised pork with black beans, yellow rice, and fries. The pork was just a bit dry and not as tasty as it normally is. We know this is a one off, so we'll definitely be back as it is a well run operation. read more

Sofrito was amazing. We wanted something fast, but not fast food with a large seated area outside. This checked off all of our boxes. You order at a kiosk fast food style, but all of the food is then prepared freshly and authentically. They have a huge menu with all kinds of delicious Latin eats like sandwiches and platters. We absolutely loved our Cuban sammies which came on thick and sweet bread. My kids kept it simple with tenders and fries and also enjoyed! They have a big drink selection and you can find everything from juices to fresh cocktails. The biggest hit was their large indoor screened patio - perfect for my kids to run around. There are tons of great restaurants in Orlando. BUT, there's only ONE place at which we ALWAYS eat, EVERY time we come into town: Sofrito Latin Cafe. My family's been coming here for about 10 years now...we usually stop here at least twice per trip. The food is fantastic. Although I've had many of the entrees, and they've all been great, in general, I'm an arepa and empanada kind of guy. Along with Q'Kenan's, Sofrito's are some of the best in town. Interestingly, multiple styles of empanadas are available...Cuban, Argentine, Colombian, and of course, Venezuelan. Speaking of Venezuelan... Service: The service has always been fast, friendly, accurate...and cute. Are the waitresses cute? Yeah, just ask my 19 year old son. There's a reason why Venezuela, a county of (only) 30 million has won Ms Universe 7 times. Not a big deal, just something you notice. The atmosphere is modern, clean, comfortable, and casual. The patio doesn't have much of a view, but still, it's nice to eat outside when it's not too humid and hot, (or like this past weekend, too friggin' cold). Drinks: They have everything! Coffee, Latin pop, craft beer, cocktails, and even wine! Try the pineapple mojito. There are probably Latin Cafes in Orlando that are more authentic, but SLC has stood the test of time. There's inside and outside seating ordering is at the desk or you can do it at one of the self-serve computers. We ordered at a self-serve computers. I ordered the Cuban croquetas and a Cuban sandwich. Either one was authentic Cuban. The crickets were cute, but definitely not Cuban croquettes it was cheese with in the middle of something and hardly any a flavor - the garlic sauce that came with was gross. You might as well just eat straight up garlic juice so I use ketchup instead. The Cuban sandwich was a very large portion and not bad. However, it did not remind me of a Cuban sandwich. This was the second time I came. When you come in, you can order in the tablets or with the host. You take a number and sit where you'd like. They bring the food out for you, which btw came out super fast. The food was delicious, we were a big group. They had music going which was pretty good. The menu has so many varieties from different Latin countries. The mocktail I had was a spring special which was tasty. I'd definitely come back. I have no idea why I am JUST reviewing this place now because I feel like I come here every time I visit Orlando (at least once a year). Food and service is always great. Large portions, dinner entrees come with 3 sides, and packed with flavor. Would recommend getting their arepas, empanadas, and roast pork. Very casual place with good vibes all around. Still being on London time, we were glad to find a restaurant open before noon around these here parts. I guess most are 1 pm to 2 am for the late-night partiers. Sofrito's outdoor dining area was nice and laid back, and their easy self-ordering meant quick hot food at our tables in just a few minutes. The staff was friendly and helpful for any menu choice explanations. My wife liked the beef/beans/rice, and it was even too big for her to finish (sure I imbibed to finish it off). She mostly (always) liked the plantains and wouldn't share. She's a high critic on those, so apparently they were worthy. The pasta was good in theory, but it was WAY too much garlic. So note to chef on that, maybe that was just accidentally too much added this time. Absolutely delicious Latin cuisine! I had the Cuban braised pork plate with yellow rice, black beans and boiled yuca with cilantro. Fantastic combo. My husband had the Peruvian shrimp with yellow rice, salad, and black beans. We were both raving about the taste while eating. They have a range of dishes from across Latin America, and lots of gluten free options. They aren't safe for celiacs though. They use a shared fryer. If you are super sensitive or have celiac, just beware of that. The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. Conveniently located in the theme parks area near Orlando. Lots of inside and outdoor seating. Plenty of free parking in the complex. When you walk in, you can order at the machine or place your orders with someone at the cashier, then find a table as they'll bring your food to your table. We ordered the churros (of course!), Patacon de Maduro, Lolo Saltado, Pollo a la Plancha, and a side of their sweet plantains. All the flavours and dishes were delicious! Portions were also just right. They even had a photographer who takes your pictures at your table and you get 1 free printed picture as a souvenir, plus the option of buying extras. We did have an incident where my husband found a piece of a small cardboard in his meal (buried under the meat). We asked for a refund of his dish and the manager happily obliged. We are like a lot of people in Orlando - here in vacation. After starting out day at 3am, we finally arrived at the hotel, tired and hungry. Sofito came up in the search and we placed it orders. I had the pork dinner with yellow rice, black beans and sweet plantains. My honey had the chicken dinner. We already ordered the flan and Nutella empanada. My food was amazing. The pork was well seasoned, tender and juicy. The 3 sides complimented each other and the pork. Highly recommend. My honey said his chicken meal was good, flavorful but a bit dry. (That's why I don't order chicken). I'm not a fan of Nutella but the flan was very good, it's a heavier denser flan than we make at home, but still yummy. I stayed at a nearby hotel and was so excited to see that there was an eatery near that sold maduros. I crave them all the time so I ordered the pabellon criollo for myself alongside a wonderfully delicious lavender iced latte. I saw that seasonal treat offered on the inside menu and went for it; lavender is my favorite flavor for an iced latte and this place made it beautifully.
