When we walked in, the cashier was cleaning tables, so she gave me a minute before taking my order. At first, I thought they were closing soon, but they still had an hour left, so I didn't feel bad ordering. I went with the chicken shawarma meal with light pickles. Right away, I felt the meal was overpriced but given the location, I didn't mind too much. My food arrived quickly, but when I started eating, I noticed there were no pickles at all, even though I had only asked for light pickles. The portion of chicken was disappointing, and there wasn't much sauce, making the shawarma feel lacking--especially for the price. On the bright side, the fries were fresh and hot, which I appreciated. Overall, while the food wasn't terrible, the small portion of chicken and high price left me disappointed. So this was my first time getting to try this place and I was very surprised by both the price and the quality of the food. They had such a wide variety of things to try so I decided on something I've never had before. I decided to order the sujuk sandwich with onions and peppers. Yummy Mediterranean food! It's a bit pricier than what you can get in temple terrace area but that's expected for its location. The menu has a great variety for whatever you are craving and there are vegan options as well. The spicy torshi is a must to cut through the richness of the food, I definitely recommend adding that to your order. The tablet has plenty of pictures so you can see what you're ordering and the food came out quickly. I'm definitely coming back to try more of the menu. read more

Stopped by just because of the items offered on the menu before heading home (2 hr drive)...tiny lil place like all of the places here, but with BIG flavors! We ordered the stuffed grape leaves for the appetizer and then I got the beef shawarma bowl with rice and my hubby got the Egyptian Sujuk sandwich and fries. I had wanted a gyro, but he said lunch just wiped them out and they were expecting more supplies coming soon...I said if they made it there before we ate and left, I'd take one to go. It is about 3.5 stars restaurant. The restaurant is popular in the Krate. When we were there, there were many customers. One thing for sure is the price is high compared to the quantity of food provided. I have one side with mixed grille. The mixed grille is only three skews. It has chicken, Kafta, and beef. My wife and I, like to spend time at Krates since there is always something going on! All kinds of live music events, fresh markets, etc. On our last visit we grabbed an early dinner. One thing I like while visiting Krate is that there is lots of eating choices and places you can sit to enjoy. I was in the food for Mediterrean food, so I got my dinner at El Prince Restaurant while my wife decided to order a small plate from Mojo Grill. We sat together one of the outdoor tables and enjoyed our meal while being entertained by the crowds. I had a Gyro sandwich and it truly represented! Finally, it's taken a handful of years for me to have a Mediterranean place near me that I love. There use to be one on 54 and Curley Rd. In Wesley Chapel and they were the nicest family and their food was so good. Finally, El Prince has opened in the Krates at the Grove. This is at the new food park in Wesley Chapel. So happy to have their food so close to home. This food is so good! I can't get over how much good flavor is in it. I shared the lamb shish kebabs with my friend. Along with that is rice and salad, and it's not the ordinary stuff. It all tastes excellent. Mixing the salad with the rice elevates this flavor too. We also ordered the beef schwarma with fries. I thought I would need a garlic sauce which I usually get elsewhere. It already had a great sauce and it was perfect. I can't say I liked either of them better because they were equally amazing. Remember if you read my reviews, I get sooo happy when I have good food especially when I don't have that type of food often. This is it. Try El Prince and don't look back. I finally found a good Gyro place in Tampa. It only took 1 billion years but I found it. This place is fantastic. I got a Gyro platter and my wife got a chicken Shawarma sandwich which basically means I got both of them. The Shawarma comes with pickles as good as any major city that I've been in. i my Gyro platter had plenty of Gyro on it and I was full long before finishing my new. Goodness where to start... we ordered food from three different food joints in this new little strip and this was probably the one I was most excited for and most disappointed by. FOOD I ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich. Now I have ordered this same menu item from multiple different Mediterranean places and it ALWAYS comes on a naan/ pita type of bread.. this came on some kinda multigrain wrap? Almost like a whole wheat tortilla? And it was not good at all. This wrap also typically comes with pickled veggies and garlic sauce- well I didn't notice any garlic sauce on my wrap and they charged me .99 for a cup of sauce that was about the size of a half dollar.. i was also disappointed that the pickles were literally from a jar from a store... the vibe I got was that this was someone's "improvised" chicken shawarma that they threw together using whatever was in their kitchen at 3 AM.. the garlic sauce really didn't have much flavor to it either.. it honestly kinda tasteless. PORTIONS For $15 and some change I expect more than a kid sized handful of mediocre fries.. the garlic sauce needs to be amped up and a cup that size should be closer to a .25 up charge- not a dollar... Honestly I don't know if I'd try anything else from this particular restaurant.. especially when there are almost 20 different competitor companies within a 5 minute stroll of the plaza. read more

Came here for the first time a couple days ago and ordered the mixed platter, it took about 20 minutes for them to prepare it, which I was fine with since it came out piping hot, the portions were ok if you're anything but middle eastern. The chicken was good the kifta was ok but on the slim side and the steak kabobs were on the tough side with a nice piece of tough fat going down the center all in all I don't think it was $20 worth. Another problem is the inconsistency my brother went there today and everything was put into one container effectively making the portions even smaller. Definitely not worth $16 read more

My mixed grill was a mini feast of shish tawook, shish kebab, and kefta kebab, served over a bed of seasoned yellow rice and mixed grilled peppers. Each item was well seasoned and tender. THE SERVICE : JUST HORRIBLE, we came in at 6:30pm and ordered a Chicken Shwarma bow and a Jyro bowl. I have Seldom seen such poor customer service. I asked for onions on my food (which it should come with anyway) and she said "I'll see what I can do! When it came out without them I asked her for them and she said "Ma'am we're about to close and we're extremely busy" and we close in 30 minutes! I looked around and said really because there's only about 6 people in here and we're 2 of them. When I asked for a knife and she had an attitude about that! The cashier was extremely annoyed with every customer that ordered and asked for anything and spoke to them very rudely ! All the customers were looking around at each other like WTH??!!! THE FOOD: honestly the most bland and dried up Mediterranean I have EVER had! Rice was dry, chicken was dry, gyro tasted OLAD AND HARD and all of it was mediocre garbage at best! My husband was given a chicken wrap which was the guys order behind us. We looked in the box and told her it was wrong then she yelled back in the kitchen "this guy wanted a bowl can you make the bowl" then she came back to the table 5 minutes later and asked us did we eat out the box. When we said no she yelled to the lady in the kitchen "they didn't touch it so we can resell it" I was like OMG WHAT!!!!! Then she turned around and served it to the table right behind us! I'm not sure how this place received so many 4 & 5 star reviews... all I can think of is that they ate at a different restaurant. We ordered baba ganoush, cucumber salad, and a fallafel wrap. The total was just shy of $30. Firstly, the portions were minuscule. There was less than a cup each of the cucumber salad & baba ganoush. The salad basically just tasted like sour cream with some minced cucumber mixed in. Meanwhile, the baba ganoush was a thin gelatinous paste that was equally tasteless. As for the fallafel wrap -- it was just a little larger than a Taco Bell burrito; I'd be surprised if there were more than two fallafels in it. Stopped in at the new Mediterranean restaurant at the karate this afternoon for a late lunch. Food was really good. My brother had the gyro, sister-in-law had the chicken swarma and I had the mixed plate. Everything was very tasty and filling. Not sure if it's because they are still slow and the entire area isn't open but the food took some time to come out. Although they did say it was all being made fresh.
