The food is always fresh, the service quick, friendly, and efficient, good sized portions of food, and very reasonably priced. My most recent visit I tried the Chicken Shawarma platter, and it was wonderful. Normally served with a garlic sauce, he substituted tzatziki when I requested it, which made it perfect. The chicken was carved straight off the rotating spit and heated on the flat grill, and was served with a small salad and hummus. Their hummus is really creamy and delicious. The platter is also served with a pita - keep in mind this is not the fluffy pita you're used to, but a Lebanese style large, almost flat pita, which is perfect for tearing apart and scooping up your food. Make sure to treat yourself to a piece of baklava for dessert - it is fresh and crispy and just the right amount of sweet. No real ambiance, but booths are available if you want to sit inside and eat. Totally a hidden gem, and I'll definitely be back. read more

The Food was SO good, and they also have Keto Diet Options. Their Garlic Sauce has no sugar, no dairy, and the taste and smell is absolutely AMAZING!! I haven't had a good Mom and Pop spot like this in a LONG time since I lived in NYC in the 1990s. If I'm ever near by here again I'm definitely coming by! Being from Detroit, I grew up eating Lebanese- Middle Eastern food, so was more than excited to find the locally owned La Pita. This is a fast casual spot that is probably more frequented as carryout. The falafel was handmade and delicious but the accompaniments didn't enhance the meal - would have preferred hummus, tabouli and toum to a traditional salad. The atmosphere is decidedly casual, and well traveled, but you're there for three food, and it's definitely worth a trip! I was worried when I opened the containers and saw the portion sizes. I thought surely, I will still be hungry after this. I'm glad to say that was NOT the case. I pita the fool that doesn't eat at La Pita when in Tampa. Because even though Florida is famous for Tampa-ing with democratic election results, they do have some great food, most of it Latin, but some of it from other far-flung parts of the world, such as this Lebanese lusciousness. My notes said: Shawarma these days in US is always dry, I'm hardly ever a fan of it anymore, was the same here. Hummus was good. Salad was okay. Prices and service excellent. Garlic sauce divine. Just about a 5 star mainly for service and huge portion size. So I like the service and the decor and the sides too much not to give it five - especially considering everything other than the dry chicken which was a little tasteless, and especially considering it's in Tampa where you absolutely do not come for good Shawarma or Mediterranean food in general. But let's put it this way. If it was in Toronto which has the best shawarma in the whole continent as far as I'm concerned, this would be three stars at best and only for the service. I just returned from a trip to Greece, and I think it's better than most of the shawarmas I had there too I got the chicken shawarma sandwich/pita wrap while my friend got the platter. Because we enjoyed something different. --- --- --- When I was checking out the list for Yelp Tampa Bay's Restaurant Week, I couldn't believe the rating for La Pita - 150+ reviews and a 5-star average is near impossible to pull off, but La Pita managed to do it! Despite not being very well-versed in Lebanese cuisine, I knew that I had to get to La Pita ASAP! While I didn't quite make it there for Restaurant Week, I made the trek over just a few days later. I was glad to have my wife there because I was debating between chicken and beef, as well as between shawarma and kabob. We made quite the dining pair because I ordered the beef shawarma platter and she went with the chicken kabob platter. That allowed us to try both the hummus (comes with the shawarma) and the rice (comes with the kabob.) We thought both options were solid. The garlic sauce that came with the chicken was very tasty, but also super strong. Our favorite thing to do was to essentially build little pita sandwiches with mixings of all the different meats, veggies and sauces. On my next trip here, I'll elect to have the professional behind the counter do that and just order my meal as a pita. I felt bad, but when I walked in, the owner smiled. I held up my hand with three fingers. His smile got bigger and he went to start putting lamb kebabs on the grill. No words were spoken. His wife, the only other person in the restaurant, got up and smiled and asked "baklava?". I said "two", and she headed towards the back to get the baklava she made yesterday. Then the three of us talked and laughed about our families. This is how it should be. There is a Subway next to them on one side, and a China Gate and Dominos on the other side. Not sure if they were out in the restaurant or just unable to deliver. Food is enjoyable, nice and very fresh. The falafel has such an interesting spice.
