Okay, this is my fifth visit here in five months so it's safe to say I'm either a glutton for…read morepunishment or that this place is great. Fortunately, it's the later, by a wide margin. Why you ask? Simple, it's great. My reasons: 1) Every time we've been here the service has been great. Not good, great. We've taken the time to meet/talk to the serving staff and they all have been friendly, attentive, and really good at their jobs. We have also met the owners and they too are lovely people. 2) The setting, given that's it's in a small strip mall is great. They have a large patio, plenty of umbrellas as booths, and multiple water features including a water wall. Inside the restaurant is equally beautiful. This is not Chi-Chis or some place trying to faux up the setting. 3) The food is great. If you are looking for typical Americanized Mexican, Spanish, South American food, this is not your place. If you are instead looking for great food that is more interesting, this is the place. For example, tonight we had a chicharron that looked liked two of biggest fried slices of hog heaven you could hope for. It was amazing! We also had the chimichurri sauce which was slightly different from what we have had in the past but it too was awesome! We even asked for some to go to which they said of course. 3) The portion size of most of what we've had over the five visits have almost always fit the price while things such as the steak fajitas were on the generous side for 2026. Bonus, big bonus- They are very dog friendly so your four legged and well behaved dogs are more than welcome in their spacious outdoor patio. And since the tables (not the booths) are not tightly together it's a good place even for the truly big dogs! That about covers it. So bring your fur baby, have a drink (they have some nice concoctions ) and enjoy a restaurant that recreates so many things from one of the owner's youth. I literally had no idea what this was when I tasted it. Not carnitas. The enchiladas were also not good at all. But I managed to eat the meat inside, as I needed to eat something. The staff was more interested in looking at their phones and talking to each other at the bar than service. However our Server was friendly. It's clear that this location needs its old chef, and old staff back. The ones who made great food, and gave extremely good service. So the tacos; I went with the lengua, barbacoa, fajita, and the fish. The fish was not on the Tuesday special but figured I had to try it. The tacos are good size and tasty once you squeeze the lime on it; especially for the traditional kinds like the lengua/barbacoa/fajita with the onions/cilantro on them. The fish taco had a cabbage slaw and a baja sauce on top; not bad but I probably would've preferred ordering more of the traditional tacos that were part of the Taco Tuesday special. Of course I did just that by telling the bartender to order another round of those tacos since they were cheap. I forgot to mention to change the fish so they brought out another tray of the same ones I ordered the first time. I thought about saying something but figured I was the one who ordered it and it's my responsibility; so I finished them with a full belly but a smile on my face. We were helped shortly after sitting down, although the service still wasn't great. The bartender who assisted us came across as uninterested and not very pleasant. We started with the queso, which unfortunately came out room temperature. The pastor tacos, however, were hot and fresh. We also ordered a frozen margarita flight, but by the time the flavors were stirred in, the drinks had already melted down quite a bit. One positive was the lady working behind the bar, who was attentive despite not even being the one serving us. Overall, this visit just wasn't a pleasant experience.
