We love Sarita's. Mexican pizza is our go-to. One recommendation: fix the outside fans.

So we decided a trip to Hammond would be fun. Someplace new to eat is always fun! We settled on Sarita's and we are glad we did! I had Mexican tacos and Julie had regular tacos. The steak tacos were amazing! Their guacamole is really good and the salsa is very mild. I liked the rice and beans too! The place is clean the staff is attentive but not intrusive. The queso is the true star of this place and adding ground beef made me want to slap my momma The chips they provide us so light and crunchy, it goes great with the salsa and queso. We could've just at the chips alone they were good. The puff taco was an interesting take and it was almost to cute to eat. The seafood enchiladas was almost like a etouffe inside of it. Went here during a mini storm to get out the rain and enjoy a marg. The parking is large and they have a cute patio outside that I would have loved to sit on in better weather! The service was nice and margs were delicious! The queso dip was decent and so was the salsa. I got the tortilla soup for lunch and it was quite pricey at the end! The smallest marg is 8 bucks, which is a lot of a small, but worth it in my opinion! read more

Try the Enchiladas de Puerco. They are awesome and have a nice flavor. So many bland Mexican places in town and this is not one of them! I worked at Gracias of Scottsdale in Arizona and after watching Cucos sadly disappear from the area, this is my go to Mexican joint for good food. Also try the top shelf margarita. A+ read more

My wife and I love going to Saritas Mexican Grill & Cantina in Hammond, especially during lunch hours as they have an all-you-can-eat buffet. My wife and I stopped in for dinner and as always, we were greeted immediately and seated right away. We got there just in time because the mad rush came in a few minutes behind us and the place was hopping. Ordered a couple margaritas and a bowl of white queso to go with the complimentary chips and salsa. Let me tell you that their salsa is spot on, very flavorful with just enough spice and not be overwhelmed with cilantro like most Mexican restaurants where the soux chef stumps his toe and spill the whole jar of cilantro in the salsa. We place our order and enjoy our drinks and pre-meal snacks and catch up on our day. My wife ordered the grilled chicken topped with sauteed spinach, grilled veggies and mashed potatoes. She was in heaven and said it tasted out of the world. Chickens was juicy and flavorful and cooked to perfection. Not too tuff or rubbery, the veggies were soft but crisp and flavorful. While the picture doesn't do the enchiladas any justice, they were pretty darn good. The chili con carne had a little kick to it but gave it that extra oomph. Our server was there enough to make sure you were doing ok but not so much as to be annoying. You know how you go out to eat and every time you take a bite and just as your mouth is full of tlfood, the server is there asking you if you need anything or you just got your food and while your are adding some salt and pepper or prepping your plate the server walks around the corner and comes back 2 seconds later to ask how everything taste, yet you just unwrapped your silverware. My wife and I used to love this place, but they have dramatically increased their prices. We ate there today, 12-9-23 and each had a chicken fajita skillet. Neither of us got any sides and we did not want tortillas, sour cream, guacamole or cheese, just chicken, onions and peppers. The bill was $34, not including tip. We will now look for a New Mexican restaurant to frequent. read more

7-15-2018 - back again and perfect... Lily got us plenty of salsa and chips, for my son who is addicted. And the bartender must be back... because Pina Coladas and beer was flowing. Officially our new favorite Tex-Mex place! 7-8-2018 - Can"t believe it took us this long to return! Food was fantastic so I upped their rating since they provided exactly what I expected, minus a few items. The bartender was on vacation, so no frozen drinks, some of the beer taps were out... so we had soft drinks. Other than refilling them into the same cups, everything else was incredible. We both had the combination fajitas. The chicken, shrimp and especially the steak was top quality and taste. The side order of rice needs a little work as you may not recognize it as Spanish rice. Our waiter did a good job keeping our chips and amsslse filled. It's a little out of the way, but with the trip. Saritas Grill and Cantina is a family favorite. The food is superior to all Mexican and TexMex restaurants. Alfa and her children are like family we have been eating there so long! Alfa works with me for all occasions She has created special dishes/platters for family birthdays and work luncheons. When my father was sick with cancer and did not have an appetite for anything, Alfa made him paella. He loved the paella and ate it! The wait staff is excellent! Tommy, Lily, Candace, Morgan, and Denver are a pleasure! Alfa, her family, and her staff care about their customers and will accommodate customers to see them well served! Sarita's is a hidden gem! The food is always hot, and the ingredients are fresh. The Beef Fajitas are a must have! The Strip Steak is very tender, and the Pico De Gallo has a nice touch of spice. First time dining here. Was pleasantly surprised. I had the mahi fish tacos. It came with grilled vegetables, pico and rice. The rice was not the typical orange fare usually served at Mexican restaurants but was more like a pilaf. I actually liked it better. Grilled vegetables were very good also. I felt the fish on the fish taco could have used a little more seasoning but adding some pico and guacamole helped. The fish was tender and moist and I would order this item again. My spouse got a combo of enchiladas which she liked also. The complimentary chips and salsa were really good as was the guacamole we ordered. House margaritas yummy. It was about 2 pm and there was only one other table at that time. The service was very good. Our waitress was helpful, prompt and checked on us during our meal. This place was, okay.. I got the Enchiladas, and I didn't realize it came with chili con carne on top.. kinda weird to ME. The rice looked like it was simply white rice, and the refried beans were a little too runny for my liking. First visit. Was not overly starving. Chips were fresh light and crispy. Salsa just the right heat of spice not overly filled with cilantro. Chose the shrimp stuffed avocado appetizer as my meal. This was by far the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten, and I am a HUGE fan of Mexican food. Decided to stop for lunch today and try their buffet. Everything on the buffet was dried out and very bland. I made one trip to the buffet and couldn't even finish what was on that plate. Ate here for the first time last night and enjoyed it until one of us forgot an iPhone on the table and instead of turning it in our server STOLE IT. We had to contact the restaurant several times to view the security cameras and when we viewed them the server can be seen slipping the phone in her pocket. The manager did not do anything to help us and was playing dumb about the entire situation. My daughter's friend (like a daughter to me) and I went to the Mexican restaurant on university Ave the hostess very sweet showed us to our seat after seating a while we thought, well there is only three tables seated but dirty dishes stacked up everywhere they must only do buffet. So I had to ask the hostess if we could start eating or did we have to wait for our waitress. She said to go ahead and enjoy which I did enjoy some of the food the queso and chilie rellenos but they were missing the poblanos. All I got of the poblanos was the label of where they should have been. After sitting again a disorganized waitress finally comes to the area shifting dirty dishes to the table by us, where they stayed for the whole hour we were there and no new customers arrived. She asked us what we wanted to drink , we ordered 2 teas, taking 15 minutes to receive the drinks we had found out by the complaining family beside us that they have a menu. The bad part about the place is my rating is not a reflection of the food but the poor managerial skills for the training of the wait staff. read more

Waited 15 minutes (by the time I had put my stopwatch on) and still nothing. Another server, a young man came out to the patio twice during our wait for our drinks. Not once did he acknowledge us, but he did stand in the corner to smoke before passing us right up and going back inside. Super disappointed. Well, call to ensure they would be able to accommodate a party of 15 on May 5th (cinco de mayo) and I was told "no" and the person hung up the phone. So, either they are trying to find a reason to close their business, or they need to screen their applicants a little better. My order was done wrong, so when the waitress brought it back to the kitchen, the cook proceeded to yell at the waitress saying that it was done correctly and as ordered. She was yelling loud enough for the entire dining room to hear. Having heard enough and having waited tables for several years myself, I went to the kitchen and told the cook to shut her loud mouth and that the waitress was right. I then told her what I ordered, which was by no means complicated, and said that if she didn't want to make what I wanted the I would leave and never return, but that her loud mouth could be heard throughout the dining room. I then told the manager to grow some and take control of his cook and his restaurant. I then left. The place is PATHETIC! read more
