This place was surprisingly bustling on a Monday evening when I met a friend for dinner. It seems like a lot of the Mexican places I've stopped at lately have been a bit sleepy, so this was a change. I think we came in the back entrance, so we were a bit confused, but a server stopped to greet us pretty quickly and got us to our table. We were just in time for happy hour that was about to end in a couple minutes, so we got our order for margaritas in quickly. A decent size for only $2.50 if you're there at the right time! This may have been the longest time I've sent ogling a menu at a Mexican place just because their vegetarian menu was so extensive. I ended up ordering the Vegetarian Cozumel because I was curious about the Cozumel sauce, and it was pretty tasty. A hint of spice but nothing overpowering. It did take a little while to get our food order in, but like I mentioned, they were pretty busy, so that's understandable. The food was served pretty promptly. read more

I really like this place. They have a very good selection of vegetarian dishes, which is great. Even better is the fact that the vegetarian dishes come loaded with veggies. I've eaten here several times and have never been disappointed with what I've ordered. I love that that you get peppers (red and green), onions, zucchini, yellow squash, and mushrooms. The dishes aren't overladen with cheese and sauce, which is a big positive in my book. On my most recent visit I ordered the Enchiladas Vegetarianas. The only change I made was to request verde sauce instead of the typical red enchilada sauce. There's nothing wrong with the red sauce, I just prefer Verde sauce. The enchiladas weren't greasy, which is always an amazing feat with cheese enchiladas and they were covered with the grilled veggies. The dish also comes with a nicely flavored Mexican rice and a cute little salad in a mini taco salad shell...an unexpected treat. The BF and my mom both enjoyed their dishes, and since it was a Thursday night we even used a coupon Score! Plus, the portions are huge, so you won't go away hungry...I know I didn't. read more

I've been to this restaurant about 5 times and have came to notice that the service is slow, and the food just doesn't taste like good quality Mexican like other Mexican restaurants. We decided to catch a happy hour here. The bartender was great and the margaritas were large! The salsa is very basic, lacking in flavor & spice and was not fresh. Walked in the door and was greeted and shown to a table immediately! The food was phenomenal and the atmosphere, while in need of an update was CLEAN AND OPEN! We showed up on a Tuesday night. It wasn't very busy. Food was slow to come out of the kitchen. My partners order was missing a couple of components listed on the menu for the item. We had to call the waiter as he didn't stop by very often. We had a coupon and time of payment it was forgotten and had to be asked for again. Mexican food had long ago lost its ability to wow me. Everything I'd encountered was either greasy, excessively cheese-laden and so cheap I was afraid to eat it, or overpriced, unoriginal, and bland. Until I found El Pueblo. This is a small restaurant in Blue Ash that really knows how food should be. When the place first opened the chef went around the tables, asking people for feedback on the meals in order to tweak the menu to please the regulars. The margaritas have a kick, the sauces are made on site (the mole is especially good), and they've put a twist on the basic mexican fare in some of their menu items, though you can find the classics there are well. They have a decent selection of vegetarian options, I'd say about 10 entrees, and what I've had has been great. The staff is friendly (I ran into our waiter at the grocery store once and he remembered my name, and that I'd just had a baby), the service is fast, and the food is so fantastic that I'm happy to wait in a long line on Friday night or at lunch time because it means they're doing good business. The food is reasonably priced, though I'd happily pay $2-3 more a plate for the qualitly they serve. read more

My partner and I chose this restaurant because we appreciated the large vegetarian section on the menu. The food was delicious. I had the vegetarian burrito and he had the chilaquiles; the flavor was great, and we both had plenty to take home as leftovers. Like some other reviewers have mentioned, the restaurant was very loud. This isn't necessarily positive or negative, it's just something to be aware of - if you're hoping to have an intimate date or long conversation with friends, this is not the best place to do so. My big complaint was the service. I expect that service will be a little slower on a Friday night because the restaurant was so busy, but our server left us unattended for long periods of time, which became frustrating. He also pestered us about ordering alcohol; once again, I expect that a server will ask us about drinks, and that's fine, but he repeatedly asked, "Are you sure? Tequila? Whiskey?" at least 3 times, one of which was at the end when he brought us our check. If we haven't asked for tequila by then, do you really think we're going to as we pay our bill and leave? Ultimately, I enjoyed the food enough that I'll go back to give the service another chance. read more

We stopped at El Pueblo during lunch hours after coming home from the mall. We weren't expecting much because the parking lot looked a little empty, but it worked out in our favor! The menu consists of traditional Tex-Mex entrees and sides, and a somewhat short lunch menu. The prices seemed a little steep, but we got so much food! To go boxes were a must. The chips were fresh and the salsa was a little too spicy for a wimp like me, but my boyfriend devoured it. Anytime my cup of Pepsi got low, the server was right there ready to give me a refill. The waitstaff was INCREDIBLY friendly and attentive. To me, customer service is a majorly important part of whether or not I will come back to a restaurant, no matter how good it is. Bummer...really wanted to like this place since I moved within walking distance but I found it disappointing. The food is good and you did get quite a bit for the price. The drinks were terrible. Probably the worst margarita I've had and very weak. And i paid a high price for it. A little higher than I would elsewhere. I found the dining room extremely loud even though it wasn't even half full. Waiters are shouting across the room and everything is rundown. It doesn't feel good at all. You will find it better to eat on the patio. They've been around awhile and they need to step up their game. There is a lot more competitiin out there offering a lot more for less. If you want a quiet dinner a small Mexican restaurant isn't a good choice. Prices are fair and the food is good. I live close by and have been here a handful of times with no complaints. Food was fine however the service not so much. My friend had a gift card from this restaurant that they said was inactive. However when you check the balance online, it clearly says that it has a $10 balance and is active. The waiter was very rude and said that they couldn't get it to go through. He said he called the manager and the manager said not to accept it. When we showed the active balance to the young waiter, he just shrugged and said the manager said not to take it. Why wouldn't you at least check with the manager when we showed documentation that the card was active? Clearly they do not care if they provide good service here. I really don't understand why everyone seems to love this place. I had my WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER at this restaurant! We anticipated having a large group of people for my friend's birthday. We made reservations in advance for a table for 16 people. When two of our friends arrived, they made their way to the hostess, pointed out which party they were with, and were told the wait for the table would be about 15 minutes. They were fifteen minutes early, so this made sense. However, we were not sat in fifteen minutes. As more and more of our party arrived, we asked when we would be sat. They kept telling us either "soon" or "in twenty minutes." As compensation for our wait, they "generously" offered us a free pitcher of margaritas. This was AFTER we threatened to leave. This pitcher of margaritas was meant to appease our entire group. It wasn't quite successful. We were finally sat after waiting an hour and forty-five minutes. So our 7:30p.m. reservation turned into a 9:15p.m. seating. The table the gave us wasn't big enough for our party. Three guests had to sit at a nearby booth. The service was incredibly slow. Not all the food we ordered even made it to the table - but it did make it's way to our bill! The food we did get was terrible. The portion sizes were small. Some of the plates had clearly sat under a heat lamp for a while and were quite crispy and burnt. Several of our guests had stomach trouble after their meals that night. I will never return to this restaurant, nor will I recommend it to anyone else. If you're looking for a good Mexican place in the area, go a couple miles south into Kenwood and try El Rancho Grande. read more

Great food. But only "authentic" the way every suburban Mexican restaurant is "authentic." A full, hot plate with your entree, rice and beans in abundance. Nacho baskets and salsa by the quart. We call this "authentic" because, I guess, it's not Taco Bell? But the food here is fresh and flavorful, where other chains can be bland and dry from simmering under a heat lamp too long. As others have stated, the place is loud. If you've noticed the arched walls, you see why the acoustics are so bad. Everything echoes. Our family is one of those families that everyone hates sitting next to because restaurant booths turn our kids into gremlins, so the noise is actually a good thing. Every table sounds obnoxious. Thus no one can hear exactly how I'm threatening my children. No wonder we never dine in. But when we do, this is the place. TIP: If you like spicy, ask them for some of their extra-hot salsa. It's a sinister greenish brown color, tastes great, and will triple your margarita intake. read more
