This update is a comment of the hotel staff moreso than the restaurant. We had a decent lunch, catching up with old friends, chatting and overall enjoying ourselves. After saying goodbye to everyone I popped back in the use the restroom. On my way back out, I overhear a snarky "well, so much for the sign." I turn around and she is looking directly at me, and says "the NO public restroom sign!" After explaining we just finished lunch, the look on her face was obvious disbelief. I offered to bring my friends back in to confirm we did just eat here. The attitude that came with "No. It's fine." Was enough to persuade me to write this update. We no longer live in Enumclaw. What a lovely place. Delicious chips, wonderful choice of sauces, and beans are given to you at each meal. The picture full of ice cold water is tremendous. Be warned: if it's your birthday you will have to wear the giant hat and get your picture taken for the wall. A classic, local favorite. read more

So first off, I guess this isn't really El Ranchito anymore. They told me that they'll be re-branding and changing their signage soon but I'll say that I think that they're better than Ranchito was. I guess you can go down the street to what used to be known as Ranchito #2 and decide for yourself since that will still exist, presumably without the "#2" designation. My kid and I popped in for a snack while we were waiting for my wife and other kid to get done at a concert and we found this to be delicious. As a kid, my family loved fried chicken so I had a lot of happy family dinners in this building when it was a KFC but I live 70 miles away now and usually grab Chinese food when I come out to the 'Claw. I got them to make us some steak nachos even though that wasn't really on the menu and we were totally satisfied. There are two of Rachito restaurants on this street. This is one in the hotel. The food is actually pretty good, although the atmosphere isn't so great. The most notable things about Rachito are the amount of food and the size of the plates. They're not actually not plates; they're serving platters. We always enjoy this restaurant for our family. The food is good, and the service is friendly. Great small town atmosphere. Would recommend.

Typical northwest "Mexican" food, but consistently served well. Large portions make for a good value and plenty of take-home leftovers. Tortilla soup stands out as my favorite here: Large pieces of chicken, housemade broth and fresh avocado.... Mmmmmm! Tip: order the tortilla strips on the side so they don't get soggy while you savor the soup. Also try the carne asada, but ask for it "rare" or they will overcook it. Roasted jalapeños are a must!! Service is the reason to come to this restaurant. It really stands out! The owner, Victor, is constantly in attendance, strolling the restaurant interacting with guests and making sure that things are as they should be. And if you're lucky enough to sit upstairs in the bar on a night when Jorge is working, you're guaranteed a good time! read more

The search continues...  We are always on the search for good Sonoran Mexican food full of flavor and hot sauce to match what we left in Southern Arizona.  Tucked inside the front lobby of the hotel you'll find this quaint little hotpot for locals.  Separate lounge upstairs, if you can walk up the long flight.  Mind you there may have been an elevator in the hotel with access but not in the restaurant.  Staff was friendly and attentive.  Salsa was mild with a 3/5 flavor, just a little sweet, but seems to be the case in Wa.  Refried beans were good, Spanish rice had good base and much better with hot sauce added.  Hubby's combo plate also included a rather bland beef taco, beef tomale 4/5; and my enchilada and chimi were so stuffed with cheese then additional cup of cheese on top of each, all you could taste was cheese.  If they had cut the cheese by at least 1/2 you could have tasted all the flavors so much better.  Mind you I love cheese but it was just overall way too much -when you ask for a bean and cheese chimi, the beans should be the main ingredient not the cheese.  I could only eat a few bites before I was litterally cheesed out.  Also for those interested, the cheese is cheddar, not the typical colby (cheddar/jack) which is another reason why it should have been so much less cheese. Be very specific with how much cheese you want on and in everything and give it a try yourself. read more

Unfortunately, if you're looking for flavorful, authentic Mexican food, this simply is not the place to eat. The highlight of my meal was the chips they served when we sat down. The plates were served with cheese over everything, and that brought the only flavor to what was on the plate. If you're in need of something to wow you, you're better off making it yourself at home or visiting taco time - to which I've never been. But after that experience, I won't be back and you should seriously consider your options before you do. read more

If you like Mexican food that has completely lost its way, then this is the place for you. Tamales not in husk, covered in flavorless sauce and cheese. Tostadas that were soggy due in large part again being smothered and floating in flavorless sauce. I can say with conviction this is some of the worst Mexican I've ever had. I came here on New Year's Eve for food, and was very, very disappointed. Service was slow, the food was disappointing, atmosphere was awkward, the booths were small and very dirty. There was plants laid out on the window sills that were dying and the dead leaves were dropping into the seating area. The prices were high. I left feeling ripped off. Would never go back. read more

Pretty great mexican food if I do say so myself....My brother is a regular here so service is always pretty great. I find myself always getting the Chicken Mole...its always good. Of course I had alot of different things on the menu and would suggest the Chicken Nachos....so GOOD and the portion is HUGE!! I've eaten a lot of Mexican Food in my life and this quite easily competes with the best. Their Salsa is decent. But the main courses were incredible. Visiting from Miami I never thought to find a decent Mexican Restaurant. The service was great and would definitely come again if we're ever out in the area again. Apparently the name will be changing soon as they're under the name of a previous Mexican restaurant in the same location. read more

Not bad if you are with a larger group, but you are ignored if there's only 2 in your party. We had to ask someone to come order. Food came in a reasonable amount of time, but that was the end of our service. I don't think anyone would have noticed if we'd just walked out after are food. We had to ask 3 times for our bill. No one ever checked to see if we were pleased with our food and I was never able to get a soda refill. I left no tip and would never go back unless someone is having a large party. read more

After a long day hike this is the perfect stop to refuel. The restaurant was friendly and the service was very quick. The chips and the salsa were also a nice touch but do not fill up too much on the chips because they portions are huge. I had the fish tacos and they were great, nice flavoring and not overly spicy. We are visiting from out of State and I've had Mexican food from Illinois to Florida and this by far one of my top 3. I had the Huevo con Ranchero and the family ordered Fajitas, Chimichanga and Mexican pizza. All the flavors were absolutely amazing. I have to say the Huevo con Ranchero was AMAZING.
