Tripa @ El Ranchito. Ask for it not crispy.
J P.

I have been frequenting El Ranchito for a year and a half. I walk out air-punching in celebration after every visit. I recommend the tacos with cilantro and onion so you can try multiple meats. All are good. Asada, cabeza, tripa (order it soft!!), pastor, etc. Burritos and quesadillas are massive. The chicken is fantastic and the plate is a large portion. Weekends: menudo :) y caldo y pollo Try ALL salsas, and ask for the tomatillo salsa (it is kept in the refrigerator). The tomatillo salsa is almost sweet, and has consistent texture. The dark red salsa has a hint of coffee bean grit and goes well on the red meats. The orange one is tasty on all, and the green is great for chicken. You must eat here.

The grilled chicken is bueno!

Best tacos I've ever had. Simple and delicious. They're sauces are amazing. It maybe a little dangerous in the area, but it's worth it.

My husband and I just got back from lunch at Chukis Tacos 2. This was my first time eating here,…read moreand I will definitely be back! The food was excellent and we had a great server (Maggie) who helped us navigate the menu and the array of complimentary sauces. We ordered chips and dip (homemade) and this is not the standard bagged chips with salsa bottle. Crisp and substantial chips with fresh, flavorful, slightly spicy salsa. Really good! Maggie recommended the Birria Burrito with consume for my husband. Wow!!! Loaded with tender and flavorful shredded beef, whole beans, rice, and cheese in a grilled tortillia wrapper with a rich and hearty consume. He has a healthy appetite and still took some home. I got 2 alpastor tacos, which were excellent. Tender and flavorful pork with just enough pineapple. I alsi had a grilled chicken taco that was good, but not as luscious as the pastor. We LOVED the sauces. Yes, you got some mighty heat with a few of these, but they never sacrificed flavor for the sake of heat. Great pickled onion and habenaros, fresh crisp radish and cucumber, smokey, spicy dips. What is not to love!! Churos for desert, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Clean, well lit reasurant. Casual. Friendly service, great parking!! We will be back (and bring friends!)

I still can't stop thinking about the sauce station here. There's a private parking lot shared with the surrounding businesses, and the restaurant has around 15 tables inside. It is a good casual spot if you are looking to dine here. FOOD: This restaurant does not serve complimentary chips and salsa. It is $2.95 an order. 1. Torta Villa Carbon (4/5; marinated grilled chicken topped with grilled onions, grilled pineapple, melted cheese, jalapeños, and avocado): This was huge. I ended up saving half for lunch the next day. The combination of sweet and savory flavors worked really well together. 2. Campechano Burrito (4/5; steak strips and chorizo with rice, beans, lettuce, onion, tomato, and jalapeño): Steak and chorizo are always a winning combination, and this burrito did not disappoint. 3. Chirucas Chimichanga (4/5; two medium chimichangas stuffed with rice, beans, cheese dip, and your choice of meat, served with lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream): I chose the grilled marinated pork (al pastor), which was flavorful and satisfying. The server mentioned that the chicken version is their favorite. The service was decent overall, though it could be slow at times. I noticed a few tables waiting a while before servers came to take orders or refill drinks, and my drink was empty for a bit before getting a refill. Dinner service can get very busy, as every table was once full in one of my visits. Would I come back? Absolutely.

I got two street tacos -- one chicken, one steak. The chicken looked like it had no seasoning on it and was boiled or something. I don't know... it's just not what I was expecting. The tacos had a ton of meat in them and it was all pretty average. I thought the chips were really good but the salsa wasn't that flavorful either. They had Pepsi products so I got a Dr. Pepper to drink which was good the first time around. When I went to refill it something must've been wrong with the machine and the syrup shot out and the drink bubbled up and over the side of my cup super fast... and the drink tasted horrible. I had high hopes but mostly it was a bummer. Like I said though, I dined with my sister and she absolutely raved about her food and wants to come back. Next time we're downtown I'll have to give them another shot to see if it goes better for me.

The vibe is just as cool and energetic as I remembered, and having that parking garage right in the back makes hitting this part of town completely painless. I sat down with one thing on my mind: their tuna club. It used to be my absolute go-to. I opened up the menu, flipped through it twice, and my heart sank when I realized it was completely gone--looks like they updated the menu and cut it loose. When our server came by, I must have looked visibly defeated because he asked what was wrong. I told him I'd been craving that tuna club for years. He told me to hang tight, walked back to the kitchen, and somehow convinced the chef to whip one up for me anyway since they had the ingredients on hand. Talk about elite, next-level customer service. While they were working on that, we started with the table-side guacamole. It's still spectacular--super fresh, completely customizable, and served with those thick, hearty chips that actually don't break when you scoop. When the tuna club came out, it was exactly how I remembered it. Perfect sear, bursting with flavor, and paired with those roasted potatoes. My buddy got the burger and said it was cooked perfectly, though the cheese on his potatoes made them a little on the salty side. Huge shoutout to the kitchen staff and our killer server for going above and beyond for a returning guest. Babalu still has it. I won't wait years to come back next time.

Molly's was one of the first real Mexican food…read morerestaurants in the city filled with Latin style restaurants where the other guys foods resembled what you'd expect from TV dinners. It was great, everything was authentic - but then Molly retired and the new owners moved the location to the hip and popular Overton Square. The restaurant turned into a bar - strong drinks with just OK food. And that was fun, if only you didn't come here to eat. Reciently the restaurant has changed hands and the new owners have turned it back into a real Mexican eatery. Now the menu is awesome, and about half of it caters to vegetarian appetites. And not wheatgrass, and Tofu... this is real Mexican food. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of pork chicken and beef. There are very large menu. And now, everything you look at it is delicious. I have been coming here since they opened and just now realized, I wanna try everything on this new menu. We had the beef chili rellinos with mole and refried beans, which I don't know how they do it but the refried beans have no pork and taste like they're loaded with bacon. She opted for a a la cart selection of black bean soup, roasted poblano pepper and cheese tamale, mushroom, cheese and spinach enchilida served with guac and pico. And as soon as our server left with our order, we immediately felt like we should have ordered this or that instead until our food arrived. TBO. Everything was totally delicious. I guess it means we just have to come back more often and try everything else on the menu. My server was amazing even though we did not order alcohol... (I had the worst feeling that since this place was really a drinking establishment for so long that they really kind of expected to grab a Margarita). The bill came with an included 20% tip, which I would always do anyway but i'm still kind of eah about telling me how to tip... politics! That said the prices were reasonable and the food was killing it delicious.
