I came here on a suggestion from a friend d and decided to try it. I brought my mom and daughter for dinner one evening. Upon walking in one of the 1st thing I noticed was the piles and piles of pre portioned baskets of chips visible from the front door. We were sat quickly and ordered queso. Which was some of the most awful queso I've ever had. We ordered and as we waited for the food my daughter pointed out how confusing the decor was. We received our food (which took a while with maybe 2-3 other tables occupied all of which were already eating when we came in) my daughters food was the complete wrong order. She had asked for quesadillas and received nachos. I politely told the waitress this isn't what she ordered. The waitress then got upset and after basically arguing was very rude in going to get the right food. My daughter was upset because of how angry the waitress had gotten my enchilada weee awful somehow not hot and the cheese felt like a giant block. It was just not good I ate a few bites and gave up. My daughter said hers was burnt and just not good. My moms was awful as well. When I asked for the check the waitress asked if wanted boxes and I said no. My family had already gone to the car. She was visibly upset by this too. The food was also way overpriced considering my experience especially since we barely ate it. I paid the check and took my family elsewhere to eat. My husband told me to try El Ranchito "because I wouldn't be disappointed" I drove by after dropping my husband off some lunch. It was very early, like 11:15. There was already folks waiting outside! I'm like ohh it must be good.... but lil ol White Settlement ain't got much choices in the restaurant department. So since my husband wouldn't steer me wrong, me and the lil ninos went for lunch. I got the Huarache. I was expecting a real HUARACHE and got what was pretty much a big QUESADILLA! My fault thinking it was an actual huarache. The menu did say flour, but I'm expecting like a twist on the huarache, but not a freaking quesadilla! The waitress is like this isn't real mexican, it's tex mex.. ughhh. Well, call the giant stuffed tortilla a quesadilla not a huarache! I was irritated because the husband told me I wouldn't be disappointed and I'm disappointed. I didn't want the quesadilla so I got something different. The waitress said the flautas are reallly good. I didn't want flautas, but I got them because she said they were realllly good. They weren't. They were dry. Again, maybe it's just me and I'm burned out on Tex Mex. The husband still claims it's good and I got the wrong thing, so I may be back. read more

WARNING: To day my wife and I stop at El Ranchito to eat. This is the worst Tex Mex I have ever eaten in my life and I have lived in Texas all of my life and am 72 years. I ordered beef enchilada and my wife ordered cheese enchilada and they were terrible the enchiladas were not cooked and were tasteless, raw oiled corn tortilla with cooked ground beef in them and enchilada sauce and cheese on top and put on a plate is not what I call enchiladas. The place is not very clean and sticks. We were ask by the waitress how the food was and we stated it was not very good and she did not like what we told her and her attitude changed from friendly to not so nice. I looked at other reviews and can not understand were the good reviews came from, this place is awful. Mc Donald's beats this place by 100 % of course any place beats this place. With drinks and food I spent $33.00 and did not leave a tip, for that price I could have eat at Joe T. Garcia's and the food would have been way way better. I do not understand how this place is staying in business, also it seems the health department is not doing there job as the floors or dirty with food and smells awful and you can bet I will be contacting them with questions concerning this place. Love this place, it's walking distance from our house and the food is delicious. $5 margaritas is a great way to start off the meal and enjoy and we enjoy sitting out on the patio. Mi Casa enchiladas with steak are my favorite and my wife says the chicken enchiladas are delicious, the sauce is spot on, rich and full of flavor. I would love to see a TV or two on the patio for some football games. Small town restaurant full of flavor and charm, feeling hungry or just want to snack on some appetizers and a few drinks, chips and salsa, come give it a try. ( salsa has a kick) read more

We just moved to the area and this was closest to our house. The food here is not good at all. We ordered maybe 6 different entrees and it came out in less than 10 min. Red flag. Stopped in here for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. I had the steak fajitas and they were delicious. The steak was tender and it had really good flavor. The chips and salsa were also good. Chips were warm and salsa had a good amount of spice without being overwhelmingly hot. I give this place 4 stars vice 5 because of two things. The service was adequate but not outstanding. The server was prompt and the food was out quick (it was after the lunch rush so it wasn't busy). The staff wasn't rude, but not what I would call friendly either. Also, the ambiance in the restaurant is strange for a Mexican food establishment. Country music playing, wood paneled walls and creepy deer heads everywhere. If you are looking for good food and don't care much about the atmosphere, this is an excellent "hole in the wall" type place to stop. read more

Absolutely terrible. The food is awful and nothing special and the wait staff is more concerned about being on their phone then actually doing their job. We had the tacos and enchiladas and both were awful. The queso is nasty and tastes just like velveeta cheese and their charro beans are nothing special. I ordered the Steak and Shrimp Fajitas and I thought it was great. I went with few friends and family and every ones plates looked good and they also enjoyed it very much! We like going here. The food is good and the service is okay. We went tonight for dinner. My husband went up to pay the check and she told him it was 60.00. Well I thought it was odd since it was just us two and we got a dinner to go for our daughter. So I asked for a copy of the receipt and the girl said okay let me print it for you. Before she even showed it to me she said its because of the gratuity. I looked at it and said okay. It dis already have a gratuity. First who charges for a gratuity for two people? Plus we had already left a tip on the table. So I went back to table and took my tip back especially since we saw our waitress maybe only two or three times. So patrons beware, note the gratuity before you leave the tip or you will pay twice for a tip. read more

this place.... HAHAHah this place cracks me up. The decor is Mexico meets backwoods Tennessee... Great food (which is also a mix of Mexico and Tennessee) very reasonable prices AND the best and cheapest frozen margaritas in White Settlement... which may not be saying alot, all the same. El Ranchito is a nice hole in the wall restaurant off the beaten path. Lunch prices are good and the food isn't bad either! Their fajita meat is very tasty and there are a couple dishes that take advantage of it besides the fajitas of course! Definitely would recommend as a lunch spot if eating chain fast food has got you down! read more

The lady that was the cashier tonight (acted like the owner) tried to overcharge me $3, when I asked her she fixed it but then charged me $1 because My wife asked for an extra slice of lemon. Then she told me how expensive the lemons are. I do have a problem paying $1 for a slice of lemon specially after you tried to overcharge me $3 and at that time not charge me for the lemon. We have been to many Mexican restaurants and have good idea what Mexican cuisine should taste like. Our first impession walking in was "very cool vibe". It was a little warm however. Turning down the AC would have given them 5 stars. I always judge a Mexican restaurant on chips and salsa. This was an A+. Salsa was spicy and very good flavor. We started off with the Queso and spicy ground beef it was another home run. Our entre was the Mochajete for two. It came with beans and rice. Both of the sides done to perfection. The entre was brought out and the lava rock bowl was sizzling greatness. Beef, chicken, shrimp and sausage along with peppers, onions and napales. It was topped with queso fresco. It was enough food to feed a small army. We were stuffed as we left. This place could be our Friday night regular place to eat, it was that good. Give it a try yourself and you will be glad you did. This place deserves no stars. My family's experience at this place was awful. We will never eat there again. The waitress was rude, slow and unprofessional. When the owner asked us how everything was, I told her the enchiladas sucked along with her service, instead of trying to satisfy the paying customer she just started throwing out excuses by saying they were busy, if you count our table and two other tables with customers busy then obviously your business sucks. She didn't even try and make up for the awful enchiladas. This place is nothing but a rip off. My family will never eat there again and will advise anyone I know to waste their money some where else. read more

We love this place. The servers start getting our food together as soon as they see us walk in the door. My sister and parents each drive an hour each way to come eat with us here. They love it as much as we do. First off I'm leaving a 1 star review only because u have to to review. We sit down and only two other tables are occupied..we order our drinks get our chips and this is where it begins. The waitress sets our drinks down and walks off leaving no straws. So we wait 5 min for straws and she's back for our order. Not ready yet she so she is asks if we want more chips we say yes and she is not seen again for 10 minutes when we get up and walk to counter to ask for chips. She finally comes back and We place our orders and two orders we specified we wanted jal peppers with. When the orders finally arrive there are no peppers for either order and she asks us if we would like more chips and we say yes. After telling us we can have those peppers in a minute she takes our empty chip baskets and returns few minutes later with peppers for one of the orders. She sets peppers down and takes off we had to scream she needs peppers too that she ordered with her meal. She finally brings those peppers but still no chips. She finally comes back about 15 minutes later and asks if everything is OK we say we still have no chips and have to point at an empty table when she says "I brought u chips". After receiving those chips only one of glasses had been filled during the entire time we were there and one sat empty for the last 10 minutes we were there. We get up to pay and voice our option to the owner when she asks how everything was. She is rude as well and tells us they were busy...only having 3 tables including ours there. The enchiladas were so bad our son wouldn't eat them and we tell her this and yet no compensation for them but charges for everything u ask for which should come with the meal. When we tell her we just won't be back she tells us don't be like that come back...I don't think so!! read more

This place is a gem! It is a family run Restaurant that has an extensive menu. They are also willing to create the dish that you want. The queso dip is delicious to knosh on while waiting for the entree. Very casual and inexpensive.
