We went here for breakfast on Saturday around 9:45am. This is a nice restaurant tucked away in northwest Fort Worth. It was pretty busy, but not overwhelming and we were seated immediately. The waitress was very nice and promptly took our drink order. I ordered the chillequilles and my wife got huevos con papas. The food was DELICIOUS!!!! I mean, SO good! Great portions, and you definitely leave full. I got my spicy and there was some good kick to it. Not so much that you couldnt enjoy it, but enough to make you want to keep eating. We can't figure out how 2x$15 meals , 2 topochicos , and extra bowl of chips $2.99 and a two tablespoons of green sauce (see silver shot in pic ) add up to $54+. What a cute little restaurant! The furnishings are pretty simple, nothing fancy, but make your way back to the restrooms and you'll see the cutest lotería paintings on the wall! That added to the ambiance. It was clean and cool, and it is a byob. They start you out with chips and salsa and their salsa is delicious! It is similar to Mi Cocinas and Taco Diner. I could drink it! I like that they give you individual servings of salsa too. I ordered the carnita plate with double beans. The carnitas were made to perfection and the beans were delicious! I also ordered some green salsa to go with it, which my daughter recommended as it is creamy. It was good. The service was excellent! The young girl was easy to talk to and was very attentive. Have only been twice for breakfast which was great, nice fast and hot! The only concern is we have ordered the same thing twice and the final price was different. We know now if the waitress asks if you would like any thing else when your food is being delivered you will be charged. Extra salsa with your breakfast you will be charged. If you say yes to iced tea to go, you will be charged. We were even hesitant to ask for refill assuming that we would be charged. There's no itemized bill when cashing out out but once you do the math you will see that all the xtras being offered by the wait staff is going to be charged. read more

Stopped by on a Saturday 5/20 for a quick lunch. Was quickly greeted and seated at a table with some fun art behind us. This place came recommended and was looking forward to the menu. Service was good, nothing out of the ordinary. Our drink order was taken quickly along with a small queso. I love that they had Mexican cokes and Jarritos. Ordered a beef enchilada plate for the kiddo and I ordered the macho man. Everything was hot, prompt and for the most part good. My 12 year old is the queso connoisseur and judges on salsa and queso. She said the queso tasted out of the can and I personally have to agree. There was nothing special about it, just a heavy thick bowl of cheese. She enjoyed the enchiladas, she said the chile con carne over the top tasted like a tamale. Macho man was very good, it's def hot and wonderful flavor. All in all a good lunch. Upon arrival, the Josefina's Mexican Cafe sign really struck me. The red & yellow against the blue sky is awesome. Everything about our visit was great! We were visiting SPI, and this was our first stop to Josefina's, a recommendation from our hotel. I ordered avocado toast which came with two poached eggs, avocado slices, tomato slices, and hashbrowns. I ordered coffee as my beverage. My husband and daughter ordered sausage and biscuits with gravy. Everything was served as ordered and was great! Kudos to the kitchen staff! Special shout out to our server, Maria Del Rosia, and host (?), Irene, who was glad to provide answer my questions about the cafe's namesake. Both Maria and Irene were awesome! It's 1:40 on Tuesday the 25th. I come in for lunch and ask for two eggs on top of my enchiladas. The wonderful waitress talks to the people in the kitchen and comes back and says they can't make two fried eggs for my enchiladas because it's not breakfast. - when looking straight at the menu it says lunch specials and has two enchiladas with two eggs on top, nothing about the breakfast menu It says two eggs on the lunch menu, so that's a lie straight to my face. These are very simple, easy things I'm asking for that are printed on the menu that they can do. Working in higher-end restaurants all my life this is the last way that you handle / interact with a guest. Whoever in the kitchen make the executive decision to simply not crack an egg It should be fired immediately because they know nothing about running a restaurant or making the guest happy. The waitress was great, the kitchen and/or manager is terrible and should be fired immediately. read more

While visiting Ft. Worth we stopped off at Josefina's after seeing the great reviews. This is not a touristy place. This is where the locals like to eat. Coming from Florida, I was craving Real Mexican food. The food was gone before the pics were taken, but rest assured it was great. The service was great from the initial greeting, through the refills, and to the discussion of what a proper sopapilla should look and taste like. These are as they should be. The restaurant itself is clean and roomy. Plenty of big tables for families and decent sized booths for smaller groups. Next time we are in the area we will be visiting again. read more

Disappointed. We've driven by this place several times. After looking over Yelp, we made a special trip to try out this place. I am sorry to say, our visit was less than pleasurable. The waitress couldn't decide where to seat us. The place only had one other customer, so I still do not understand why she had to walk us to 3 different tables before asking us to take a booth. Only one other customer came in while we were there. "For your safety" they posted menus on the wall at each booth. Yet, the waitress handed us a plastic coated menu as well. I found a salsa spill on mine. Clearly, they were not being wiped down between customers. I asked for water, no lemon. It came with lemon. I asked for my taco without cheese. It had cheese. The tamale on my combo plate was the smallest I've ever seen. It was no bigger than a roll of pennies. I asked for chili con carne on my enchilada. I got red sauce. We had to ask for water refills twice. It came time to pay and we had to wait at the front for 5 minutes while 2 waitresses and the cashier had a discussion in the back. Why? Well, they pretty well ignored us for the whole visit, so we should have expected more of the same. The food was nothing special and rather bland. The service was horrible and the wait staff uninterested. There are too many options in the area who are happy to have our business. It is highly unlikely we will return. read more
