This is a nice and clean place with friendly staff. The service is excellent. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks or food. They have a TV and the bathrooms were very clean. Now, the food was excellent. Everything is fresh and yummy. My husband had the alambre dinner plate with a can of Coke and he gives it a 4 out of 5. I had the carne Asada burrito and a taco de carnitas. Delicious! The carnitas were cooked to perfection as was the Asada. I should have ordered some guacamole for the burrito because I just love it more with that but it was very good. They give nice portions of food, the limonada was so good (very rare for me to say that) and I'm sure it was homemade. And last but definitely shouldn't have been least is that the prices are good. Ventured over to Burnett. Stopped due to reviews. Disagree. Not that great of Mexican food. So/so. Salsa has no substance, simply juice. Left the rice off my combo plate. Asked for it and was told the combination plate does not come with rice? (Despite what the menu says). Our water although he was nice, he could hardly speak english. Did it once. . Their food is good. I wish their service with to-go orders was more friendly. I have never experienced dine-in service.

So Sad the friendly staff is gone and so is the cook. I ordered the ranchero nachos and the meat was full of fat. I sent it back and ordered something else. At the time of check out the food I sent back was still on the check. I asked the lady to take it off and she said you ordered it you must pay for it. This has always been our go to place to eat in Burnet and have always recommended it. We returned home approximately 30 minutes away to find our order wrong. At first we thought they had changed their recipe only to find out on the next in-house visit we had received the wrong order. Instead of tortilla soup it was a chicken soup. Sorry we do not eat whole chicken legs in soup. We mentioned the experience to the young manager on our next visit. While we did not expect anything from this an apology would have been nice. He was very uninterested and in no way apologetic. Our once a week visit to El Rancho is no more. read more

We took a road trip from Leander to Burnet to specifically eat here. Took about seven minutes to get a booth. It was noon time and they were packed. You could smell the food in the air and occasionally you could here the "sizzle" of the fajitas going from the kitchen to the table. We had the fajitas with shrimp as well as the Jalisco Burrito with cheese. It was extremely good or maybe were were just flat out hungry but it really tasted good. What we liked and we shared this with the staff, is that they did not seem to add any additional salt to our meals. So many other places really salt the food down which has a tendency to make our blood pressure spike upwards a little. Service was pretty fast considering that the restaurant was full. We saw many people coming in to pickup their order also. Popular spot for great Mexican food with a Jalisco touch. We'll be back soon. . read more

This place is on the main strip as you go through town. It is has good food and decent service. Nothing was standout and also nothing was horrible either. This appears to be one of those "steady eddy" places with decent food and stays consistent. Nothing spectacular but then again, a good place to always know what you're going to get. Carne Guisada was flavorful if a little on the tame side. The enchiladas were in need a bit of flavor and some of them did not get finished. On par chips with above average salsa. All of it seemed fairly typical for Tex Mex in central Texas. read more

Pleasantly surprised! I found this on Yelp while in town and decided to try it based on a review that was not great but the gentleman said he's more of a Tex Mex guy. Personally, I prefer more traditional Mexican dishes so I popped in. They do have some Tex Mex dishes but they also have some more traditional dishes too. I tried three different things and they were all so good!!! I wish I lived closer; I would come here all the time! Good food, clean, friendly staff and reasonably priced. Yummy tacos here! I would definitely recommend the breakfast tacos. My fave was the been and egg. I would not do a potato option because there was A LOT of potato. I picked these up right before heading to Mojo Coffee. Love the fresh flour tortillas. They were thicker though so if you're trying to watch the breads, you may want to go with something else. read more

This place is AMAZING!! They have the best mini tacos in the area. They taste exactly like the ones I used to eat in the valley. My favorite is the carne asada. I always order them exactly as the menu says, load my tacos up with all the grilled onions, drizzle on some verde sauce and eat every single one of them. Their charro beans are so delicious with little chunks of hot dogs and bacon. Their salsa is really yummy too and the queso is kind of watery but the flavor is fantastic. I do love El Rancho....for lunch. The lunch staff is great attentive and the cooks are good. The last 4 times I have been there for dinner I have been extremely disappointed. I frequent this place every week and see a tremendous difference in quality, service and over all attentiveness between lunch and dinner. I ordered out from here on Friday and ordered a soup, as I noticed them packiing it up I asked the young man because it is usually full and he laughed and said yeah? Not sure he understood me. He then asked me if I wanted chips and salsa and I said yes, when I get home there was none. This is just one of the many things and I thought long and hard about posting this but after several times of bad experiences with the quality of the cooks and service falling off so much, I had to share. I like the El Rancho in Burnet. On weekends I always order their menudo--it's great! Sometimes they have a lengua plate, another favorite of mine. Service is always quick and really pleasant. We stayed at Inks State Park for a couple of days and wanted to visit nearby towns for good food. We decided to give El Rancho a try. It did not disappoint. If you get one thing here make sure its the carne asada mini tacos. Amazing. Plus the chips and salsa is great. read more

I have been many times. I asked for milk instead of creamer for coffee and manager was rude and charged me for a full cup of milk.....when all I wanted was a tablespoon for coffee. These people are rude! read more

My around town stop for mexican food. The place is always clean and kept up with, that always shows a lot in a place. Staff is very well educated on what they sell and can pretty much answer any question you have. Time to get to the food. I'm not a huge fan of their salsa.. I do love their queso tho. The number 22 is probably my favorite. Chicken and beef fajita meat cooked with bacon and peppers, rice and beans. Super yummy. Their breakfast menu is also killer. I normally order breakfast for dinner. DELICIOUS pancakes. (funny coming from a mexican place) but very sweet and yummy. Oh! and great prices. read more

I eat at this restaurant often since it is very convenient in the middle of town on Hwy. 29. They have a wide variety of menu items and the service is usually pretty good, the people there are hard working. Most of the menu items are tasty however the salsa is not very good in my opinion. It seems to me salsa is the staple of a good Mexican restaurant and it just can't be considered an excellent place to eat unless they clear that hurdle in a successful way. read more

Horrible food and even more horrible service. We came in for the first time today and were greeted by non smiling, very stand offish men surrounded by empty tables in desperate need of bussing. Not a single one of the tables were bused the entire 45 minutes we were there. Incidentally, our waiter did not revisit us a single time during that 45 minutes either. His back was to us the entire dining experience and I had to yell across the room to get a to go box for the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. I ordered the Chimichunga which looked really good on the plate however I only ended up eating a small bit of it. It was covered in a cheap flavorless over salted processed cheese sauce, the chicken inside was dry and even more flavorless than the horrible cheese concoction. the rice was overcooked and again...flavorless and the beans tasted straight out of the can with no prep whatsoever. The only thing I did enjoy was the salsa, the chips were obviously the cheap chips you buy in bulk from the big box stores. I didn't even leave a tip (which I never EVER do, I usually leave at least 20%) because the only thing the waiter did was bring the food to our table with an attitude. I was planning on leaving 2 bucks but when we got our change he only gave us a 5 for an 18$ order. There was no way I was leaving that much for no service. Bottom line: Horrible experience all around. Bad service with attitude, food took too long, restaurant was dirty and the food was wretched. We won't be back! read more

Driving through Burnet and was very surprised to find this great place. If you're in a rush this is probably not the best place, but the restaurant was packed so I understand. Food was phenomenal. Of the four or so Mexican food restaurants in Burnet, El Ranch is the best and busiest. Everything I've had has been good. Their waitstaff is attentive and fast. Food comes out fast and hot. Their portions and prices are very reasonable. Great salsas (hot and really hot). I usually order the molcajete (shredded beef, onion, peppers, and cheese cooked and served in a stone bowl--called a mulcajete). Most entrees come with refried beans, Spanish rice, and choice of corn or flour tortillas. The sides are obviously canned, not fresh, but are standard for most Mexican restaurants. The entrees are the stars and worthy of a trip to El Rancho. read more

We're from San Diego and terrified of Tex-Mex. El Rancho came highly recommended by Burnet and Marble Falls locals. This is the best Mexican food we've had since we moved to Texas. They're even willing to make our "California" burrito which has carne asada, fries, cheese, pico and guacamole. Meat is pretty lean. Hot sauces are amazing. We'll keep going back. read more
