We sat on the enclosed patio with our doodle and enjoyed a nice lunch with margaritas. Our server was very friendly and efficient. We had chicken quesadillas and lunch portion steak fajitas. The drinks were on the strong side but most people would really enjoy that. We will definitely return. read more

I had forgotten that I tried their food at the taste of Ellijay hosted at Buckley Vineyard where it was very good. Great restaurant not to be confused with others by similar name in town. I have to tell you all that this is probably the cleanest restaurant I've ever been in. Don't believe me? Take a look at the care and cleanliness of the bathrooms. Friendly staff, very good food and a great skinny margarita. One of the many things I love to have at Mexican restaurants is maduros (plantains) and the maduros were cooked perfectly crunchy edges soft center. Give these folks a try.. read more

This restaurant tends to be hit or miss so not very consistent with food quality or service. Visited on 11/11/25, lunches menu until 3:00 we were there before 3, our order was placed by our waitress at 3:01 and they still charged us full price. My husband ordered a Taco Salad, with beef it was very greasy, I ordered the Texas Loco, it was flavorful but was also greasy. Our waitress was not very pleasant or personable, almost like she was angry because she had to work. When she was asked about the pricing on the bill her response was "SO" and she walked away. Smoking in a restaurant is gross!! You can smell the smoke the minute you walk in from the bar. Won't go back until they get that changed.

Loved the food and the staff. Went twice in three days! Fajitas and fresh guacamole were our favorites.

Food is decent but there were several issues with the service: 1. two hairs in my food. One long one in the refried beans that I just threw away and didn't say anything. The other (, pictured) was not from the head. The manager said, "I don't believe you". She claimed I was making it up, "because this is the first time this has ever happened". 2. My husband also asked for the menu to order dessert, she (the person who later claimed to be the manager. I say, "claimed" because when we were getting up to leave she stopped by to say, "I'm not really the manager". Strange), gave us the menu, then took it back but didn't take the dessert order. 3. I had some confusion about the difference between a tostada and a chalupa, and she was very abrasive. 4. Not an issue with the service, not the menu. Vegetarian combination A lists one bean burrito,, one tostada, one cheese enchilada and One nacho cheese. It should state, "brean tostada with nacho cheese". This person (abrasive rude lady who was our server) should either be sent to training or find a job in which she doesn't have to interact with people. My husband first ate at El Ray in 1990 (different location) and my family just ate there for the last time today (even though our meal was comped), because the person responsible for ensuring a great customer experience is wholly unequipped to do so. We returned after a few years out - love the updates. Menus is terrific for a group of varying tastes from carnivore to vegan. Portions were good and served quickly. I will never step foot back in this restaurant after the way me and my family were treated here tonight. Our waitress told us that they were giving away shirts for Cinco de Mayo. So on our way out of the restaurant, there were boxes upfront of shirts with all the sizes written on the different boxes. So we were just looking at the shirts and then this employee charges over and she is probably one of the nastiest people I've ever experienced in an establishment. So rude, so condescending, so unfriendly, and just outright NASTY to a group of people that easily just spent $100+ at her place of employment. Not to mention one of us frequents this restaurant once a week. The way she acted it toward us you would've thought we had our hands in the register taking money right out of it. If the shirts that are being giving away for free are that big of a deal, don't keep them upfront in wide open boxes with the sizes written on them or have someone standing there to give them out. Or even a sign saying please ask for assistance. What a joke, this lady has zero customer service skills whatsoever and is doing this business a huge disservice. read more

Normally my husband and I love El Rey's and can honestly say we've never had a bad meal there. We've been going there since we moved here in 2000. Tonight was that night it went down. I got a burrito, Chile Rellano and a taco. The meat was like baby food. They put hamburger meat in a blender and used it. That's horrible. My husband got wings and ff's. His wings were fine. He never uses the sauce cause it's too hot for him. He has his own. His ranch was sour. C'mon E Rey!!! All it takes is 1 bad meal to lose customers. The red sauce for the burrito was very, very dark, less tomato. Please get your cooking crew together. I had thrown it away before I saw this.
