Good food! Friendly service. Reasonable prices. We go there several times a month - both eat in and take out. I highly recommend El Rey!

The four stars are more for the service than the food. While the food was good our server made our experience that much better. Sadly I do not recall his name but he was attentive, friendly and patient as we had all our kids with us. The restaurant is huge with a large outdoor dining space as well. After building an appetite apple picking in Ellijay, you can't go wrong with a meal at El Rey Azteca. The staff is very friendly and the place is clean and well decorated. I tried the Deluxe Combination and was surprised at how much food there was. Good thing I was hungry. My family tried the tacos and the meat was well seasoned and tasty. Our server was very busy, but she still checked in on us a few times. I will have to return and try other dishes and the Margaritas. read more

Food is maybe average. Chips are stale, tasting like they were shipped in from out of state, and stored in the back room for months. Salsa is horrible, the worst I've ever had. Service is good. I'll definitely be looking for other places to eat while I'm here. read more

Good food and gets busy, so go early! The entrance has quite a slope that might be difficult for someone with mobility problems. Watch out for the protruding wooden scroll on the booths!! Ouch! The chips are thick which we like and not at all salty. The salsa is runny, not chunky, and a little spicy which isn't our favorite. Where they shine is their meals. We've been there a dozen times and always enjoyed our meal. We both had the fajita burrito (one of our favorites!). So tasty and a huge portion. Friendly, prompt service every time we go. read more

Food was quite good. Service was good. Prices are atrocious. Got a fajita for one, diet coke, apparently was charged for a couple slices of lime and jalapenos, so my bill was $26 before tip. So a $30 meal for one. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty, but I will definitely NOT be back at that cost. read more

Tried out place since the opened up in this location since Pueblo closed and was surprised by the ambiance. Staff was very outgoing. Menu is extensive. Food is great. Margaritas are terrific. Pricing is reasonable. Highly recommend stopping by and trying out this place. read more

Had a great burrito. Service was good. They began cleaning an hour before closing and the smell of the cleaning agent was over whelming!! They were mopping, wiping tables and chairs all around us with still one full hour before posted closing time. I could not breathe nor finish my meal the cleaning solution was so strong. I literally had to go outdoors to catch my breath. If I had asthma or COPD it probably would have triggered an attack. Ruined a really great meal!! read more

Probably the worst excuse for Mexican food that I've ever had. The rice and beans were canned and cold by the time they reached the table. The queso blanco is also canned and overly thick...room temperature. Everything on top of that is overpriced. The waiters and waitresses are jerks and clearly hate their jobs. Took 45 minutes to get our food and they couldnt be bothered to check up on us. My wife is from Claifornia and she pretty much agreed that cat food is more appetizing than this "Mexican food". If you like cookie cutter restaurants like Frontiera or Chueys then you would still only give this a 2 star max... I hate those restaurants so this gets a 1. You couldn't pay me to eat here again. read more

We were on the road with 7 hrs to go stopped for a quick late lunch and the seating and service was amazingly quick. After we told our waitress Marisol that we needed quick service she was amazing as was the kitchen in tending to our needs. Outside of the restaurant looks amazing but the quality of the food is very low. For some reason they sat us at the bar (a family of 4 with 2 kids) so one poor bartender was trying to take care of us and keep up with the drinks. read more

Visiting from South Georgia This place is great! From the minute you walk thru the door you're greeted warmly, everyone is so nice and all smiles which I like, smiles are free and most appreciated. It is decorated very nicely, attention to detail, upbeat ambiance, but not too loud. Our waitress Thursday evening was so nice and very conscientious of our every need. Because of such a pleasant visit we returned Friday evening. They were not very busy Thursday evening but come Friday evening they were packed out and yes we received the same attention to detail as the previous evening. Our waitress (different one)again could not have been nicer!!! The food is delicious! The Fajita Aztec was to die for, with onions, peppers, everything really, grilled to perfection!! Good Mexican food, great service. Also the ambiance is the best. This restaurant is very large with a separate full bar. They spent more than the average amount of money decorating this place. It has beautiful blown glass lighting, wood floors, and touches of stone. Not your average Mexican decor. Not to dwell on the surroundings though, the food is very good too! Give it a try. read more

The food was okay, it could have been better. The service was terrible. The waiter took 20 minutes to see if anything was okay. After most of our party received their food it took another 10 minutes for me to receive my food. The only person who attentive to our table wasn't even our waiter.
