Always order here and never had an issue until today. Ordered two large burritos one carne asada and one chicken (because we have vegetarians eating). They made both burritos chicken and asada. Called to see if we could get our order corrected, they said bring in the burritos. No biggie but when we got there the young lady laughed and said 'you're a vegetarian but you eat chicken?' Just wondering what my eating preferences matter you you? Then as they are making it asked 'do you want beans because they have Lard?' They took forever making which was ok since we really wanted the burritos but the employees kept saying little jabs which I believe is horrible customer service. I've been coming to Tacos El Rey for a long time. The tacos al pastor meat is really good, The selection of salsas and the beans are not too bad. This place was always full but tonight, friday night around 9:30 pm there were only couple people in there. I have to assume that the overpriced menu is causing no business. I love this restaurant!! All foods I have ordered are rich in flavor, they offer free sides such as unlimited beans " which taste amazing" multiple sauces, chopped onions, cilantro, carrots, radishes, they even give you free chips with your order. We eat here at least twice a week. If you are in the city of chino you should give them a try. read more

By far, the best tasting carne asada anywhere. They marinade it and season it really well. Rice and beans are authentic. Salsas are good, but mostly spicy. I especially like the green creamy salsa. They have a huge menu and vegetarian options. They have freshly made aquas frescas and bionicos. If you want real mexican food, try this place. Our family has been going there for years. It is a small place, not really decorated like a nice restaurant, more like what you would expect from a taco stand, but don't let that fool you. The food is delicious! read more

I had the alpastor tacos and I was too dry the asada tacos were also. 2nd time back I decided not to get tacos since I really didn't care for them and ordered chicken taquitos, I had seen a man eating them and they looked appealing. If you are reading this review chances are your food was bad or received inadequate customer service. That's what happened to me. I had went in to buy a torta with my boyfriend and i did not want certain ingredients in my torta and so i requested that, but prior to removing the ingredients we had asked what the torta came with. Then my boyfriend asked again what came in the torta "TWICE" and it seemed to have bothered the cashier to the point of rudely repeating herself and causing an awkward moment and a ruined experience for us. It's hard to distinguish between a lot of Mexican cuisine restaurants of this nature in Southern California, there's one on every corner, most serve identical menus for a pretty low price. El Rey is different, it is The King as its name states. It's located next to a 7-Eleven, almost no parking lot space, but once you get in be ready to eat heavy. The food prep staff is insanely fast at making your meal, they have it down to a science, there is a complimentary salsa bar with refried beans and veggies soaked in jalapeño juice that make a great side for your choice. If you have a large appetite or want another meal for tomorrow, get the Torta Cubana, which literally has everything on it, but you can still taste the individual flavors as you bite into it and just enjoy. I do occasionally veer off into the burrito section and was pleasantly rewarded with quite large burrito filled with everything I wanted, and it didn't cost me $9 (cough Chipotle cough) read more

Nastiest Asada taco I have ever eaten. The meat is cut into strips instead of fine meat. It was greasy and had absolutely no flavor. One taco and Asada fries for $16. Well people I don't know where to start or how to since it seems like the locals here love this place and for good reason. Let's talk about the good. I love their salsas and even their stand alone unlimited pinto beans are pretty cool if you can not think too much about the sanitation aspect of it. The size of their burritos are pretty impressive and if you think street tacos are too small , you'll love this place because they use 3/4 size tortillas which are almost full size however the price reflects it too! And now the negative....This is hard part because although the locals might think this review is a little harsh, I can't really blame them because technically it probably is the best taco stand within 20 miles so I get it. The problem is that there are very few places I've been to that are great taco stands and I've been to many that had lines out the door and weren't half as good as El Rey but that said, I've been to GREAT ones too and once you visit a great one, you become ruined and the bar is set and you become a battering ram for those who aren't. Here's the problem I have with El Rey.... Their food is sitting in food warmers!!! God I hate food warmers and if I wanted food warmers I'd go to McDonalds!! Great taco stands don't do this!! Their Buche is sitting in a plastic bag for god knows how long and everybody knows good Buche comes straight out of a giant 1/4 pot and is chopped up in front of you and placed on a hot tortilla. (Plastic bag?? Good grief!!). The same goes for El Pastor and although it wasn't sitting in a plastic bag it might as well have been. Pastor is suppose to be cut directly from the carousel and onto your hot tortilla because if it isn't , iT SUCKS!! I can't tell you how disappointed I was with these meats and it left me wondering why people love this place? Maybe they just don't know better? To add insult to a hungry person, the Pastor was greasy and I had enough oil left in my aluminum foil to cook fried rice! El Rey has the potential for greatness but they aren't there yet and therefor I have to rate this place a solid 3 star. I hope the owners read this and make their adjustments.
