Was looking for Sunday dinner and decided to try this place for the first time. I went for the 2 taco combo with one shrimp taco, one fish taco, both breaded. The combo came with rice, beans, and a fountain drink. After I paid i noticed that they have fountain Pepsi, but only canned coke. Not sure if you can ask for canned coke instead of a fountain drink without an additional charge but I personally prefer coke over Pepsi. I decided to get dr. Pepper since I had a fountain drink cup. What I do like is you can get some lemon, onions, and chili peppers from the condiment bar. I like chili peppers and appreciate these are free whereas I have had to pay extra for a bag of 3 elsewhere. There are also an assortment of packaged sauces as well as their prepared sauces such as Chipotle and green/red salsa. The portion sizes here are good. I took the food home to eat and was pretty full by the time I ate one taco. The condiments enhanced the meal. Rice and beans were fine. For $14 total its not a bad deal. I think if I didn't do takeout and ate at the restaurant, my breaded fish would not be soggy. However, the flavor was there. Ensenada Surf n Turf is a bit of a hidden gem -- literally. It's tucked just off the 71 freeway, behind some of the more popular shopping centers, so much so that when we pulled up, we genuinely wondered if it was open. Just 1 day ago a review was left saying they got sick...but we went anyway. That worry didn't last long. The place was very clean, the staff was friendly, and since it was our first time, they walked us through the menu and helped us pick. As soon as we walked in, we felt that cool beach/surf, ocean-inspired theme throughout the restaurant. We ordered the battered shrimp tacos, which were excellent, and tried the stingray tacos too -- not something you get to eat just anywhere, and they didn't disappoint. There were multiple house-made salsas and sauces to go with everything. We also got a burrito, which ran close to $20 -- on the pricier side, but it lasted me two full days, so you can judge the value for yourself. It's a seafood spot, so the higher prices make sense once you're there. Overall, this is one of those places you really have to experience in person. I recently met my best friend here for lunch. I ordered a Grilled Fish Taco and a Hardshell Potato Taco. She ordered the #3 Combo, which included one shrimp taco, one fish taco, rice, beans, and a soda. I was in the neighborhood for a conference and wanted to dinner to bring home. I ordered to go a shrimp bowl and grilled fish burrito. The damage on that was $40. For that price I wanted better grilled shrimp in my bowl. The shrimp didn't have good grill marks or all that flavorful, although there was a good amount of it. She ordered two fish tacos fried, I ended up ordering one fish taco, one shrimp tacos (both fried) and one mango shrimp ceviche tostadas. The fish and shrimp tacos are hands down very tasty and delicious. One of the best in town. The mango shrimp ceviche was also excellent. My only thing is that the bottom tostada got soggy from the juice. No worries we still ate all of it. Next time I order it I will ask for more tostadas. Such fantastic fish tacos. I used to be a big fan of Rubio's when they had plenty nearby me. But now that they closed the two closest to me it's slowly dropped off as being a regular place to go. Yet I never forgot how much a good fish taco hits the spot. Ensenada has those good fish tacos that are impossible not to crave more often than not. The fish is fresh, flaky, and firm where i t needs to be instead of a mushy mess. Both tacos I had were simply amazing and I was this close to order one more. The service was great. Everyone was so courteous and answered all my questions as a first-timer. And the space is fantastic, so much room and you don't feel on top of each other. I even had time to put a good dent into the book I brought along. My only gripes were the rice wasn't the best, containing some sub-par veggie elements in the corn and peas. This is especially striking because I liked the refried beans. I'm tempted to just ask for all beans next time. And the cookie I added as a treat was just kind of foul, more demonically hard and full of trail mix additives like dates, pecans, anddried coconut than more tasty elements like chocolate, caramel, or peanut butter. The cookie ruined my meal completely. Gladly, I know for next time to stay away from those evil baked items and just fill up on the goodness and joy that are the fish tacos. I feel comfortable writing this review because I've been here more than 20 times over the years and have recommended this place to many friends. Sadly, I now hesitate when people ask me about it because the inconsistency has become too frequent. At its best, the fish taco is excellent: crispy on the outside, tender inside, flavorful, and satisfying. But more and more often lately, the fish isn't coming out crispy, and without that texture, it honestly becomes just a mediocre fish taco that doesn't feel worth the $4.99 price tag ($2.99 on Taco Wednesday). The portions are still generous and the flavor is still there, but if the frying consistency cannot be maintained, longtime customers like me may slowly stop coming back. I was honestly surprised there was virtually no line today between 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. on 5/13/26. I don't know if the owner will ever see this review, but I genuinely hope the restaurant can tighten up the process and return to the quality that made people love these fish tacos in the first place. Came here for the first time last night after living down the street for 3 years. We came in for a late to go dinner. My immediate reaction was shocking. Lol I didn't realize how big it actually was. I ordered a combo with a fountain drink, rice, beans and 1 fish and 1 shrimp taco and a large shrimp cocktail. 1 extra fish taco also. We waited about 10minutes. Asked for extra salsa at the counter. Got home and was delighted to see how tasty the cocktail was. The portion does seem small for $21 but it is packed with shrimp. Happy to say the fish and shrimp inside the batter was seasoned well. The rice is buttery with peas and carrots and the beans are house made which is always a plus! The 4 stars is for the prices of everything. The prices are up there. Another location we also love is Señor Baja in Chino. This location has specials during the week so we definitely will be back. We ordered lunch from here and our experience was pretty good. The business doesn't have online ordering for the Chino Hills location, so I called to order for pickup. The food was ready within 15 minutes and was hot and fresh when we picked it up. Servings were very big, especially the carne asada burrito, but also the fish tacos.
