I had the spicy cucumber margarita (sooo refreshing!) with a Baja fish taco and a spicy Baja shrimp taco. Both tacos were really good, but the spicy baja shrimp taco was my favorite. We also ordered the fresh chicharrones. The chicharrones were hot and still crackling when they arrived at the table. I especially loved the green aioli salsa that came with the chicharrones. Visited for the first time last night based on the awesome reviews. Ordering was a bit odd as the full menu was not up on the screen as you stand in a line for one employee to take your order. The complete menu was next to said employee who stood there patiently while waiting for you to decide on something all while not holding up the line. We settled on 2 taco combos: baja fish and baja shrimp, both on corn tortillas. Then we ordered another set of a la carte tacos, more baja shrimp and fish tacos, but this time on flour. The total came out to $52+ (including CAs seemingly mandatory these days tip). The friendly employee gave us our receipt, order number and beverage cup, and we waited. In contrast to other reviewers apparently short wait times, we sat waiting around a half hour for our take out order to be delivered to us at our table. We headed back home as soon as we got our order and the food held up very nicely. Id say the tacos were delicious and very filing. The battered fish and shrimp in each were generously portioned and the cabbage toppings on each were not only refreshing but eye appealing as well. Although the tacos hit the spot, I have to be honest about the rice and beans, as being an Angelo--if the spot has legit Rice n Beans, then everything else on the menu is spot on. Can't say this holds true for this spot, as it was quite literally the worst rice and beans Ive ever had from an establishment touting Mexican (style) food. I opened the takeout container of rice and was disappointed to say the least, it was just a helping of white rice-- the same as you would get at Chinese takeout. The beans? Even worse than the rice. The customer service is great, and the staff will take the time to walk you through the menu if you need help deciding what to order. Dang! Those were two of the best fish tacos I've ever had. This was my first time here after being bookmarked for months. Easy to find and easy to park. Short line and the menu offered decent choices. I picked one Baja fish taco and one blackened white fish taco. Both were on their delightful corn tortillas. Loved the texture of the tortilla and the fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The Baja was lightly deep fried and the white fish was grilled. Both were fabulous. Came here for dinner and it was so good! Don't let the lines fool you, they get your order pretty fast and finding seats was pretty easy. We each ordered the two taco combos and margaritas. But since Yours Truly cannot stand any type of seafood except for shrimp cocktails, our arrival at the crowded restaurant sent BOTH of us into a momentary spiral. My buddy couldn't concentrate with the standing room only crowds, fifteen-deep line to order, 6-deep queue to refill your drinks. So we quickly grabbed our silver plated serving trays and walked thirty yards west to the outdoor seating area at Panera. Yes, we faithfully returned both trays at meals end. My miniaturized "first world problem" was provoked by two realizations: A.) Urban Fish Taco specializes in fish or shrimp tacos. And I don't mess with seafood. B.) Their carne asada tacos weren't covered under their "Taco Tuesday" promotion, where $3.15/Taco gets you your choice of fish, shrimp two different ways or their chicken al pastor. If you wanted asada, you'd pay the menu-stipulated price of $4.99/per. "Relax, Willingham," I counseled myself. "You've grown to love Cabos Tacos in Glendora¹ so give this place a chance." ¹ Cabos Tacos, on picture-scenic Route 66 in Glendora, is another fish forward taqueria that happens to offer well made, thick asada tacos. My pal opted for a four-pack of Tacos, two each of fish, one shrimp and one chicken al pastor. Me? Went straight for a quartet of the chicken al pastor, tho I'd requested flour tortillas in lieu of corn. The ambiance at Urban Taco on Tuesday nights is comparable to a crowded Bronx subway station- No where to sit and the distinct threat of an armpit thrust near your face if you're not too careful! The decor is reminiscent of any newer Chipotle/Cava or Habit Burger place. White subway tiled walls, cavernous ceilings outfitted with corrugated metal fixtures and exposed pipe, a venerable tribute to the industrial, recycled chic that seems to dominate nearly all modern "Fast casual" restaurants. Once we'd pivoted down to the outdoor tables at neighboring Panera after we'd realized that even the walk up bar style seats were all occupied, we sat down and feasted. My tacos were sublime. So glad I'd gone rogue and requested flour tortillas versus the obligatory corn ones. UFT's flour tortillas are clearly hand formed, flattened in a tortillera then flash-griddled on a flat top to achieve a glassy, slightly crunchy exterior. The chicken al pastor is deliciously seasoned, with tiny diced segments of pineapple to provide a bright counterpoint. They're served with pickled onions, dressed with creamy avocado and madre cremas to distill a cooling contrast to the slight heat of the well spiced protein. Dave's order must've been pretty good, cause he quaffed the entirety of his meal in record time. The restroom was barely suitable for such a busy venue. I pegged it "barely" because the empty paper towel dispenser screamed "we need attention." My bill, including tax and nominal tip because we sat offside, was $14.83. read more

On a more recent visit, I ordered the two taco combo (fish taco and pork belly banh mi on corn tortillas), and both were bangers. I was shocked at how fuego the pork belly was: crispy, fatty, and flavorful in a way that rivals top-tier Asian spots. The fish taco? GTFO. Perfect texture, even better flavor. My wife ordered the grilled white fish plate with lemon butter, and it was rich, buttery, and kind of stole the show. Honestly couldn't decide which dish I liked more. We also split a side of fries, which were solid (4/5), but the mains are what make this place shine. This spot replaced Bruxie, formerly one of my favorite corner hangs here, and I think it's a worthy successor. Clean, modern interior and decent service round it all out. Ive been to this place multiple times. I brought a friend who's has specific allergy requests. I asked specifically if any of the sauces contains the ingredient and they said no. Received the taco and the sauce did have the allergen. Asked to have it remade and the person assisting me seemed more annoyed than anything. Really liked this place but if you have any allergy restrictions dont invite your friends or come as they dont really know what's in their food and will just treat you as an annoyance. read more
