    Tripe taco

The wife and I first visited El Rey del Taco on a Friday night. Line out the door? Check. Staff barely speaks English? Check. Twenty minute wait to sit down? Check. As soon as we were finally seated we were given a bowl of fresh chips and homemade salsa. Starting off strong with a Michelada and margarita, we perused the giant menu while our appetites only grew. The tacos are the main attraction here. Al pastor started off strong at 5/5 with a perfect sweet and smoky balance. The tripe tacos were a solid 5/5, grilled perfectly with the right amount of char. The homemade tortillas are the crown jewel here, turning good tacos into great ones. The guacamole is exactly what you expect, simple and comforting while the charro beans are the best I've ever had, seriously. Service is top tier and food is served quickly, which elevates the whole experience. I've been twice and I'll be back for another marg!

The tacos here are excellent! I got the beef check, tongue, and tripe on their homemade corn tortilla. Their corn tortillas are the best I've ever had! They're not dry at all which is an issue I have with corn tortillas. The meat in the tacos are super juicy and flavorful! The service was also great, our server was super nice and had good recommendations. The price of the tacos are very reasonable I think for the size. The margaritas were pretty meh, they weren't really anything special. Parking can definitely be tricky on weekends but you might just need to circle a bit. Definitely recommend!

A year ago I wrote about El Rey del Taco, and coming back feels like revisiting a classic that only got better with time. The first thing on the table was hot chips with a spicy salsa that still hits just right. The homemade tortillas are the crown jewel here, turning good tacos into great ones. The tacos lined up like a greatest hits album. Steak tacos landed a perfect 5/5, rich and full of flavor. Al pastor stayed strong at 4/5 with that sweet and smoky balance. The chicken tacos with cheese surprised me again with a knockout 5/5. The cheese dip is exactly what you expect, simple and comforting. Service is top tier and the food comes out fast, which makes the whole experience even better. They stay open until 2am on Saturdays, so it is the perfect late night stop after being out. Compared to last year, the experience holds up and then some. El Rey del Taco is still one of those spots where you walk out already planning the next visit. Compared to last year, the experience holds up and then some. The food remains phenomenal, the atmosphere is easygoing, and El Rey del Taco is still one of those spots where you walk out already planning the next visit.

Outstanding late night hours and great tacos, is there a better combination? They offer 2 sizes but if you're there late night then there's only 1 option, go big or go home. They have all the usual suspects when it comes to taco options. They have a ton of beverage options to choose from as well. I believe seating is open but don't quote me. Don't be tempted to order delivery. You must eat the food here. It's the best way. It's the only way...

First time having Mexican food in ATL after growing up in CA. This spot was really good! The portions are huge. They start you off with a basket of chips and salsa. The menu is huge and a little confusing but we didn't mind lol My husband got a super burrito with asada and we didn't realize it came with a side of beans and rice. I got a couple tacos to try - asada, carnitas, fish, and shrimp w/cheese. The seafood ones came with a side of salad which was refreshing! We were shocked how large the tacos were lol we are used to smaller ones. Love the handmade corn tortillas. My fave was the shrimp and cheese - juicy, tender yet crisp, tasty shrimp and cheese. Everything else was pretty good. The asada was a little dry. Enjoyed the toppings on the tacos. We were so full we had plenty of leftovers to bring home! Great value meal and staff are so nice. FYI you get a slight discount if you pay with cash.

Tacos piled around the plate. It's like Taco heaven! The red sauce is delicious and spicy.

I asked Google what the best tacos were on Buford highway and this place came up. Parking was easy and we didn't need a reservation. We walked in and were seated immediately at a booth. They have a kids menu, so that always helps. The artwork and what seem to be a theme was Dios los muertos paintings and decor. The server came up very quickly, brought us chips and salsa and asked if we wanted something to drink. We ordered the mango and also the pineapple agua frescas, which we're both delicious. My wife ordered fish tacos and I had carne asada, cabeza, carnitas and barbacoa tacos, which came on one large plate overlapping each other, it was wonderful. I also ordered a carnitas burrito and a pork quesadilla. After all that food, I ate most of it but took the burrito home and it was delicious all over again at home. There were a couple of salsa options on the table, one red, one green and also some hot sauce. They also brought over some salsas that were on the plate which were different. Every taco that I tried was delicious, but my favorite had to be the cabeza. The red sauce with the tacos was fire in more than one way. I don't know if these are the best tacos on Buford, but I haven't had any better. This is a great place for everyone to enjoy!

Wanted to try this place after hearing great reviews. Was very disappointed though. I ordered 4 mini tacos to go- 2 carne asada, carnitas & adobada. It was ready right away. It was around $14 for 4 mini tacos. Food was not good. Both red and green salsas were way too spicy and I like spicy food but it wasn't enjoyable. Parking lot is small for the amount of shops/restaurants there. Would NOT come here ever again.

El Rey del Taco came highly recommended by Reddit lol. I ordered a pulpo taco al Pastor and 5 mini Tacos (lengua, tripa, buche, cabeza, y barbacoa de res y chivo). That's tongue, tripe, pork stomach, cow cheek, and beef/goat. I don't see pulpo tacos offered in taquerias very often so I was pleased to see it here. The pulpo taco was excellent. I am a big fan of octopus and it was cooked well in this instance. Octopus can get chewy and rubbery but not here. It was seasoned well and the al pastor flavor came through without overpowering the octopus. I really liked this. I'm an adventurous eater and I know a lot of my mini taco choices will probably turn off some people, but they were really good. Some taco places don't always offer these meats but I'm glad El Rey del Taco does. I won't break it down by each taco, but the different flavors and textures that each meat brings to the table is awesome. If you've never tried any of these meats before maybe a taco is the perfect vessel to do so. My brother really doesn't like tongue, but he loves them in tacos. Maybe that'll be the case for you too! Since I'm not a local I don't know what the going rate is for tacos like these, but they seemed kind of pricey at $3+ each. Back home in NJ I can get similar tacos for under $2. But overall this place is good. Food is great, service is good, and it's clean enough. I can see how parking can get dicey as it was difficult for me at about 5PM on a very rainy Monday.

I came here once with a friend to catch up and was instantly teleported to an authentic Latin experience! The servers are so welcoming and the place is stemming with vibrant music and the smells of amazing food. Everything on the menu is excellent!

Food was delicious (as usual) with outstanding presentation. The avocados were cut and designed to look like flowers. Everything was cooked perfectly. Shrimp ceviche had great flavor. The service was great and efficient. Another great meal at El Rey del Taco.

We were there on Saturday with small children and never even stayed long enough to order food because the odor was that bad. I used to visit this restaurant years ago and had already noticed signs of decline, but this latest visit made it clear that the conditions have become significantly worse. The bathrooms were dirty, with broken fixtures and obvious signs of neglect. The entire place looks outdated and poorly maintained, as if renovations and upkeep have been ignored for years. The strong smell of mold throughout the building was alarming and made us question the overall condition of the property. It is difficult to understand how a restaurant can operate while allowing customers to be exposed to such an unpleasant and toxic environment. It's disappointing because we love colombian food. Sadly, it now appears that providing clean, safe, and quality facilities is not a priority. We left immediately and chose not to eat there. Whoops! This is an overdue review from December…read more Xela Pan Cafe is a Guatemalan restaurant/bakery/convenience store on Buford Hwy in Doraville. Just a quick warning that, depending on which employee helps customers, there may be a slight issue with their understanding of English. They absolutely speak and understand Spanish. Xela Pan Cafe is in a small strip mall that is next to the strip mall where Kung Fu Tea is located. There is limited parking in front of the storefronts. This small business is made up of a restaurant, a bakery and a convenience store all run by the same employees. The convenience store sells a lot of seemingly random items, just about all in glass display cases. I noticed a lot of things to help with digestion and upset stomach, and hoped that this wasn't an indication of their food (Thankfully, it turned out that it wasn't!). The bakery items were in a separate area of display cases, but customers are free to self-serve themselves by using a tray to place whatever they choose, using either tongs or disposable gloves (I can't remember which they use) to take the items out of the cases. R and I came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning just before 9 am. There is an order counter, but that's for customers who are ordering items to go. Once the employees found out that we were going to eat breakfast inside the restaurant, we were told to seat ourselves and an employee would be by soon with menus. The restaurant area contains mostly booths, with some tables and chairs in an area between the order counter, convenience store and bakery areas. A very helpful and knowledgeable server came by our table, bringing a couple of glasses of water and menus. For a small restaurant, there were many items on the menu. We both ordered the scrambled eggs, rice, black beans, plantains and cheese. We didn't wait very long, in spite of other customers lined up at the counter to order takeout meals. The scrambled eggs with tomato and onion in them tasted a little bland, but I dressed it up with some bottled red hot sauce that was on the table. The plain tasting white rice, which had peas, carrots and corn in it, was pressed into a heart shape. The black beans in its watery sauce were very good. The plantains were cooked to a perfect firmness, and had a perfectly matching natural sweetness to them. The small block of slightly salty cheese also had a nice firmness to it. The price for each meal was very reasonable. Overall, this was a good dining experience.

Tender, juicy, melted in my mouth. I had grilled vegetables and baked potato for sides. The vegetables were a mixture of broccoli, cauliflower, pea pods, carrots, and zucchini. They were cooked well and flavored with garlic. The foil packet of potatoes contained three small round potatoes also perfectly cooked through not seasoned at all. The meal came with three small dinner rolls and a few packets of butter. Everything was flavorful and delicious; garlic was quite strong though which I loved but might not be everyone's liking. I also ordered Alfajores from the bakery section for dessert. These are little sandwiches with soft shortbread cookies on the outside and soft dulce de leche and coconut filling between them. This Caribbean restaurant and lounge - Dominican food to be specific - opened in 2018. The food we had hit the spot. It was fresh and tasty, cooked and packed to order. For a place that's primarily a Latin nightclub, our Sunday lunch on the patio here was surprisingly delicious. N3dos is located on Buford Highway OTP (outside the perimeter) in the former Shooter Alley building: https://bit.ly/382CSeQ. The shopping center it's located in, Treasure Village, has cleaned up in recent years. Gone is Shooter Alley, the sketchy spa, and Buford Hwy Twin Cinema: https://bit.ly/382LKRC. N3dos renovated and opened up the old Shooter Alley space. It now features a long bar with TVs, elevated booths, tall tables, lounge seating, a DJ stage, and a game nook with gambling machines. They also added lots of windows to let some natural light in. Due to the currently raging COVID-19 pandemic, we dined outside on the makeshift parking lot patio. It's amazing how many tables you can fit onto three parking spots. The outdoor patio was enclosed with cinder blocks and wooden beams. The tables weren't exactly level, but that was OK. At least the furniture was in good condition and looked clean. When I called N3dos before our visit to confirm outside seating, the lady who answered told me that outside seating availability is subject to the staff and volume during each particular shift. Weekends are busier than weekdays and outside seating is more likely during weekends. Also, I was told only two servers work per shift. The patio is completely uncovered so it's also available weather-permitting. During our extended lunch stay from about 12:00-2:30pm on a Sunday, we were the only walk-up "dine-in" customers. I noticed one pick-up takeout customer and another solo customer enter the building. When we visited, there were no other customers and we saw only three workers inside: a man and woman up front (the latter took our order) and an older lady in the kitchen. There was a language barrier, but we were able to order successfully. I discerned that the entire menu wasn't available during the daytime, but instead at night, which was understandable given the bulk of their business is in the evenings. Our server, Katherine, immediately directed us to several specific items on the menu. The menu was spiral-bound, laminated, sturdy, and colorful, filled with helpful pictures and descriptions in both English and Spanish. She pointed out a few chicken dishes, but when I asked her about other dishes, she also suggested beef. Note: Katherine said if we wanted true dine-in service, we had to eat inside. If we wanted to eat outside, we had to order to-go. Our food was served in disposable containers -- aluminum foil plates with paper tops, plastic bowls with snap-shut lids, and flimsy foam boxes. Menu items were affordably-priced with most entrees, except for the seafood entrees, under $15 each. Entree categories included salad, soup, sandwiches, Mexican, Dominican, chicken, steak & pork, stew, pasta, and seafood. Examples included menudo (tripe soup, small $6.95, large $10.95), a Cuban sandwich ($8.95), churrasco (grilled beef with chimichurri, $18.95), and a two-person paella (Spanish rice with mixed seafood, $40.95). They had a variety of apps and sides too. Examples included picadera (small $12.95, large $21.95) which is an assortment platter of party/finger foods, ideal for the club environment, and pastelitos rellenos (savory chicken and beef pastries, $4.95 per order). I didn't ask for or see a drink menu, but it's safe to say they have a full bar. After a little back and forth with the server, we settled on a few dishes: * Rabo Guisado ($13.50) - stewed oxtail * Bistec al Caballo ($14.00) - steak and eggs * Tostones ($3.50) - fried green plantains * Nestle Pure Life bottled water ($2.00 each) We received more food than we were expecting because each entree came with a *generous* portion of white rice and red beans and a salad consisting of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and a delectable salsa made of chopped red onion, cilantro, and tomato. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The rice was nice and moist, the beans were hearty and satisfying. The oxtail was served in a rich, oily stew that was absolutely packed with mouthwatering flavor. The oxtail meat itself was wonderful; excellent consistency. The steak was a cheap cut that had been cooked well-done, but what can you expect for $14 steak and eggs? It was fine and served its purpose. The steak was topped with two eggs, sunny side up. The tostones were good quality; thick and appetizing, but they lacked flavor. They should've had some seasoning and/or come with a sauce or something. Still, not bad though. Payment was handled via the Clover POS system. Check out N3dos on social media at the links below. Facebook: https://bit.ly/3elm7N5 Instagram: https://bit.ly/2HOaW3U

My family and I have been loyal customers of this restaurant for many years. However, our loyalty…read moreended today due to a horrible experience. The food was unacceptable. The ceviche was so excessively salty it was inedible, and the chicken was undercooked (raw) and completely flavorless. To make matters worse, the service was equally poor. When we complained about the quality of the food, the staff refused to replace the dishes or remove the items from our bill, stating dismissively, 'They tried it and it was fine.' We were charged for food we literally could not eat. Because of the atrocious food quality and the unacceptable response from the staff, this restaurant has permanently lost a client of many years. We started with toastones, mussels, and papa a la huancaina. All of which were great! The toastones were nice and crispy. They came with great dipping sauces, personal favorite was the green. The mussels were very light and refreshing. The papas were nice and creamy from the sauce. I liked using some of the green sauce on this dish for a little kick. I got the lomo saltado and it was full of flavor! I would definitely have it again. The service was good and experience was as well. We plan to come back!
