I ordered a takeout dinner. The restaurant is one of several in the building on Buford Highway and the parking lot was nearly full. It was early so the dining room had only two or three occupied tables and no one at the bar in the back yet. I was greeted immediately and waited a short time for my order to be ready. All the way home I could smell delicious odors from the bag! I ordered Churrasco de Entrada which is grilled skirt steak with chimichurri sauce and two sides. The steak was amazing! Tender, juicy, melted in my mouth. I had grilled vegetables and baked potato for sides. The vegetables were a mixture of broccoli, cauliflower, pea pods, carrots, and zucchini. They were cooked well and flavored with garlic. The foil packet of potatoes contained three small round potatoes also perfectly cooked through not seasoned at all. The meal came with three small dinner rolls and a few packets of butter. Everything was flavorful and delicious; garlic was quite strong though which I loved but might not be everyone's liking. I also ordered Alfajores from the bakery section for dessert. These are little sandwiches with soft shortbread cookies on the outside and soft dulce de leche and coconut filling between them. Four came in the box. This meal was at least two servings for me and it was a wonderful experience. I look forward to eating in the restaurant next time. read more

I have mix feelings about this restaurant, I came because I wanted to eat some Argentinian steak in a grill. The location is in a small plaza with hard time to park because of the amount of businesses around. The restaurant is big with a lot of tables and good for big groups but too dark for my taste, the windows are so dark from outside that if it wasn't for the " open" sign you would think it is close. The food is good, I liked the quality of the chorizo and the skirt steak was grilled properly. I wished the fries were "fresh-cut", I understand that frozen fries are easier but a good steak deserves good fries. Another thing that lowers the experience is that the condiments like ketchup and mayonnaise are in packets like a fast food chain. Great food and great service! We've been here a few times and tried several dishes, but the PICANHA and the GARLIC FRIES are definitely our favorites. The restaurant's menu is inspired by Argentinian and Uruguayan flavors. As a Brazilian, I love it because the food reminds me of home. It's casual, relaxed, and we've never had to wait for a table on Sundays at lunchtime. The PICANHA plate comes with two sides and we usually go for double fries. Definitely ask for it with their garlic herb sauce, it makes the dish even better! They also serve bread when you sit down, and those little rolls with butter are seriously amazing. I've also tried the CHURRASCO DE ENTRAÑA, which was delicious, though the picanha still wins for me. The BEEF EMPANADA is another solid choice, crispy outside and flavorful inside. If you're looking for a fun, cheaper steakhouse in Atlanta, Sabores is the place to go! We went for a small group dinner and it was soo packed but we lucked into a table from a canceled reservation. Our waiter was great and everything came out super quickly. I had the churrasco for my entree and it was massive! The meat was cooked well and we all really liked the chimichurri, the only thing I would critique is that the flavor could have been a bit stronger. We then had some chaja to share and it was really good too! You can find Sabores Del Plata at 6200 Buford Hwy, Norcross, GA 30071 - this is the stretch of Buford Hwy that has major construction so much of the center is blocked - you may need to make a U-turn depending on which direction you're traveling - just an FYI. The parking lot is a bit of a mess as there are many businesses - coming during slightly off-hours is best. Sabores Del Plata is an Uruguayan-style steakhouse - that means meat and a lot of it, as the restaurant's signature dishes. The interior is low and a bit dark, perfect for the consumption of massive amounts of protein. I met with Laura C. to try the place out (as an aside, I couldn't make Daniel B.'s UYE when he had it here years ago). We arrived slightly before the lunch rush so seated immediately. The place filled up quickly so we placed our orders right away. We started with a couple of empanadas, which went quickly. I preferred the beef over the ham. For entries I ordered the choripan filled with delicious sausage. Laura got the Bandeja del Plata with vegetables and mashed potatoes (which sounded intriguing to her). Neither Laura or I was a fan of the potatoes although I'm sure others would like it. We finished up with the Chaja cake - three layers of caramel, peaches and cream. We both liked it a lot. Service was good with prompt staff and quick refills. In all a good experience - next time I'm getting a "death by meat" plate though. The Churrasco looks devine. read more

Dropped by with three friends for a casual meat-fest and honestly? It was a vibe. The place carries that authentic South American energy you can't fake -- warm, a little rustic, and the staff? We got there at 9pm Saturday 26 after a 3hour drive from south carolina! We got a table right away and our server recognized my wife and I from previous time we have been there. Right of the bat that is awsome. She made us feel at home right away. She was not a robot but rather chatting with us about our drive thanking us for coming by and talking with us like we where home. The meat itself was bland, overcooked, and overly salty in parts like the ham and bacon. The ham and cheese empanada was fine, but nothing special. The mango juice tasted overly sweet and artificial, not like real mango. This place Ive been wanting to go to for over 20 years. Even though I drive by a lot it just never happened. So the other day I went. It was full except for 1 table. It seems to be a busy place and clientele mostly Latino. I ordered the Entrana. I know you can never expext any Uruguayan or Argentine restaurant to be as good as down there. The beef does not get enough green grass, and good grass is just one of the reasons. The dish was good. I opted not to get the fries as they dont use sea salt. I have no idea why but I asked if its sea salt and waiter was honest and he said no. Sea salt makes fries so much better. I may go back for a Chivito, Uruguays national sandwich! I have a second home and across the street is a big Uruguayan restaurant and I asked for one there and the didnt even know what it was. Granted that is far from here but just shows dont expect the same. Here though the waiter knew the food. For those that dont travel you should like this place. read more

Got a table for 6 with no reservations on a Saturday afternoon, pretty quick. Service was swift and effective. Ordered the medium size parrilla and it was more than plenty for a table of 6 with 2 hungry men. The server tried to upsell to a large size during his recommendation, understandably so. His recommendation felt misleading when the medium size arrived. The tower of food, again, is more than enough for a large group when ordering the medium parrilla. We ordered parrilla only with meat chicken and chorizo. Meat was cooked perfectly and not overly salted. Chorizos were delicious too. Chicken breast was dry as per all guests. Biggest disappointment was the tiny chimichurri serving size that arrived with the entire parrilla order. When we - naturally - had to order more.... the server said it would be an additional fee. "yes, it's new". Laughable. Bottomline, meat is good, share your orders, know chimichurri isn't free. read more

Drink selections were vast and selected a savory Vinito. It was a mixture of sangria and Malbec and complimented nicely with dried blood orange. Libation also paired well with the churrasco skirt steak, Provençal fries & salad. Yummy rolls and butter were also provided for table - my kryptonite! It was not full on the rainy Tuesday, but still had patrons at bar, a group that appeared to be reuniting or celebrating also, families and couples. We went there on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed so there was a wait. We put our name on the waitlist and they texted us in about 30 minutes. When we sat down our waitress was nice we ordered our wine and dishes. The wine bottle came out really quick and when she poured it we realized it was the wrong bottle. We had ordered a different bottle, but did not want to make a big deal so we didn't even tell her. The meat was tasty and filling, we definitely took some food to go. It is located in a plaza with many other businesses so that is definitely a plus. Inside is very open and clean. The service was amazing as well. Everything went well until we asked for our bill, no paper to see what was on the bill and when server told us $106 something didn't add up. 3 kids meals 2 adults. I asked for the itemized bill and was sent to email. They charged us $26 per 2 kids meal and the other was $7. Menu says kids spaghetti $5.99. When I when to talk to server she did not want to speak because she was too busy and the other server that was helping told us, "oh well you saw how big the plates were". So our server charge my tiny kid an adult meal. A normal experience server would have thought, oh they want kids meals for their kids for sure. Sure now seems like a scam. So disappointing because we always look for Argentinian restaurants. There was not a single attempt to make things right so we will never come back and for sure will spread the word. read more

My brother and I wanted to feast on some steak so we decided to check out Sabores Del Plata. Let's start off with the good first!! Fun environment with good music and wall art. The menu is fun and the team is friendly. We ordered their PARRILLADA which will set you back $90 bucks for the following: picanha, filet mignon, skirt steak, bottom sirloin, short ribs, chitterlings, sausages, blood sausages, sweetbreads, and chicken. It also came with an option of 3 sides so we picked their rice, potato salad and fried eggs. We started off with their PROVOLETA which is their grilled provolone with oregano, olive oil and a bread basket. Personally I thought this alone was not worth it HOWEVER once your meat plate comes out, it pairs up perfect!! Now for the things I wasn't a fan of... after we got through their picanha, filet mignon and bottom sirloin, the rest of the meats were... either tough to chew or lacking in flavor Their chicken was OK but nothing special but we did enjoy their sausage. Their chimichurri sauce does save the day though and if you cover the meat with enough of it, it's still good. With the amount of food we got I was hoping for better beverage service but unfortunately if you order a soda you get it by the can, and although service was very friendly, it did fall behind a bit on the timely part of the service. Once I was able to catch their attention for a refill I just got a second can of soda... I think a location like this needs a soda fountain. One more thing... their rice and eggs were perfect but their potato salad was lacking any flavor, just a normal potato salad. All in all, awesome experience with some unique flavors. Their individual plates and entreesook amazing so I'll have to go back and try a few different things from their menu. I had been wanting to try this place for months after seeing a food review on YouTube. I'm sad to say that I was let down by the taste of the food I had ordered to go. I ordered the PARRILLADA PARA for 1 with fritas (French fries). To start the fritas were cold and just tasted like they came from the freezer. The meat selection (Parrillada) smelled really bad. There were 4 of them that I had never tasted before (chitterlings, argentine sausage, blood sausage and sweetbreads). I think the reason why is because they are an acquired taste. They didn't taste good at all and I think they were the cause of the bad smell coming from the to go box. The sirloin steak was like sawing a leg off a cow and chewing leather. My dog would have even had a problem chewing it if I fed it to her. The chicken was tender but not really seasoned well with little salt and pepper. It did have a nice smokiness. The short ribs were probably the most flavorful but again chewing leather and sawing a leg off of a cow. The chimichurri was very oily and I could have greased my body with it. It's all you taste. Crossed paths with this Buford Highway South American restaurant in Norcross while surfing around Yelp. Argentinian/Uruguayan cuisine? Not a combo to readily be found in the Atlanta area--I'm there. We came on a Saturday night, and Sabores del Plata was bustling with several large parties. We were seated after a waitress cleaned off a smaller table for us. The decorations were conversation starters: a massive wall of caricatures of famous folks, unfamiliar license plates under the wine. Eventually, we went with an order of beef empanadas (2 pieces for $4.99, ham & cheese was another option) and the Chivito al Plato for Two ($29.99). The empanadas came out in a reasonable timeframe and were hot. Nice pie-like crust! There was a small container of oil and herbs for dipping/pouring. The chivito was immense! Some quick Googling tells me that this is the national dish of Uruguay, or the sandwich version is at least. It's "thinly sliced top sirloin topped with mozzarella, ham, bacon, and two fried eggs all laid on top of French fries. Sides include potato salad and green salad." Hope you're hungry and that you have a robust cardiovascular system. We wished there was a little more sirloin and less French fries which were the dreaded crinkle-cut and all soggy since they acted as a cushion for the meats and cheese. They were seasoned with herbs. The potato salad was heavy on the mayo. Even the tomato in the salad was drizzled with mayo. Beware if you are mayo-averse. Our waitress started off attentive but then did that thing where she barely came by after we had placed our orders. She later apologized and mentioned how busy it was but when you're ready to go and it's been a while.... Parking was fine in the small shopping center, though many of the other businesses were closed for the evening. The bathrooms (3 stalls for women) were old but clean. Probably more like 3.5 stars. I'd return to Sabores del Plata, but I would aim to show up at a less busy time and would try a different dish! read more
