Only to be greeted by the owner who was an excellent host. The title says it all. TACO LOUNGE! Because the tacos are delicious. As the gen Z would say- fire. They slay. They are serving taste! The guac is fresh. With chips that don't break every time I take a scoop. The tortillas are corn only and from what I can tell- made in house. The drinks are hand crafted from fresh juices! Apparently they have drag shows on Friday! They do have a moderate sized stage area for a restaurant. Def tons of potential here for this restaurant to do big things!

Predicting it now, El Alebrije is about to be all over your favorite Atlanta foodie's IG. Here's…read morewhy: First off, six (6) gargantuan made-to-order tacos in the main taco entree. But not 6 street tacos, 6 meals. I got the suadero, asada, and chorizo which were all phenomenal! My friends also added cheese, which comes quesadillas style, which I will certainly go for next time, as it looked amazing (see pic). Yes, the flavorful corn tortillas are handmade per order, so it takes around 15 minutes to get your plate. But it is worth it, considering only 1 of 4 in our party could conquer all 6 without taking a couple tacos home for a second meal. The drinks though!! We had a round of house margaritas, with an agave topper. Best I've had to be honest. I also had a tamarind michelada, which was so good I'll come back on a live band night for this weekly. Pro tip: the entrance is to the right side of the big steak house. Don't let the Speakeasy style entrance fool you, once you go down the long walkway, it opens up with beautiful lighting, a VIP area, a small dance floor, and a great sound stage for live Latin music and DJs. With the plethora of authentic choices on Buford Hwy, El Alebrije manages to stand out and the serving size and quality drinks will keep me coming back. Highest recommendation!

The suya was absolutely on point--perfectly seasoned with that authentic spicy, smoky flavor that hits exactly how it should. You can tell they respect the roots of the cuisine. It's one of those spots where you're not just eating--you're experiencing the culture. Great food, great music, and a vibe that feels warm and soulful. If you're in Atlanta and want a place that blends African flavor with a lively Afrobeat atmosphere, the Red Room at Mr. Soul is definitely worth the visit.

I feel like they need to upgrade their fries vendor. They tasted old and I was underwhelmed. There's better quality fries in this industry, especially just for the price point. It's overpriced and the quality is just not up to par. I don't mind spending money when it makes sense but this doesn't make any sense. It's probably other items on the menu that might be better quality. The suya it was dry in some parts tastes like it was heated up in the microwave and not fresh. The flavor just wasn't there. I've just had better elsewhere so I'm disappointed. I love the ambience of this lounge. It's always a good time. No complaints there.

I'm assuming the night we went wasn't African night because we left without hearing 1 African song. Nonetheless, it was a good crowd, and people were actually friendly, which is rare in these types of settings. The food took over 45 minutes to come once the crowd grew, and it became harder to locate our server. It seemed like they were understaffed last night. We ordered the lamb fries, which were bomb. Full of flavor and the portion were good.  I would definitely recommend it. My friend got the salmon burger, and her review was "it's ok, I've had better" .  I ordered the lamb and  mashpotatoes, and It was delicious. Chef kiss.  Lamb was cooked to perfection, and the potatoes were creamy. I would give this establishment another shot. I would visit on African night so I can really get the full experience of Ace.  It's worth a try, in my opinion.

Service was horrible. Nobody greeted or seated us when we walked in. We waited for over an hour before anyone took our food order. Took forever for the drinks and hookah to come out. We weren't given glasses of water or even utensils in a napkin. When the food came out, our waitress just walked over to us with a fist full of forks and told us each to take one. LIKE HUH?! I've never seen that before in a restaurant! And the food wasn't good. The Jerk Pasta was more like pasta soup with all the extra liquid it had. Plus it was lukewarm, almost like it had been sitting out for a while. Ultimately we just wanted to be done with the experience asap, so we didn't even send the food back. Just closed out and left.

Afrobeats on repeat, of course! This was everything to me because I've been to caribbean spots out here that play hip hop and r n b, constantly. Neon lights and leather seats paired with a chic backdrop does it every time. Service: The server and bartender was extremely friendly! I wish I got her name. We were greeted on entering and she came over immediately and helped us out. She even gave great suggestions about the menu and what to order. The young woman who is serving was also just as friendly! She came over, spoke to us, and checked on us, just as much as the server did. She also waited for us to get food before giving us the hookah because the timing between getting surfer both was very close for service 10 out of 10 would recommend lol #Keith Food I personally had the pepper soup with Jollof rice. The rice substitution was suggested by the waitress, and I am so happy I took her advice. My other friends had pepper soup but one and ordered the egusi soup and pounded yam which she said more than hit the spot lol! She said it was cooked and seasoned perfectly and had more than enough to take home. Jollof Rice: the rice was season to perfection and cooked perfectly. It was different from the jollof rice that you would get from a Nigerian or Ghanaian restaurant. You have to remember that this is Senegalese based food! So don't expect the same thing. However, it is just as flavorful and just as good. Pepper soup: The soup was full of flavor, and the heat from the pepper did not overcome the other seasonings. The meat fell off the bone although initially I thought I would need a bigger portion of meat , it was more than enough, when paired with the food. In fact, I was able to get two meals out of this one. As promised it opened up my pores but there weren't any tears . The soup is more of a broth consistency hence the reason it paired well with the rice. You could try it with pounded yam but I would imagine it would be too watery.
