Fresh fried masa flour with beans and the protein of your choice. I went with chicken but they have other options including cow tongue. This is a very authentic place. I was the only Anglo there and much of the staff struggles with English. Not a bad thing, but be prepared. I love that the full kitchen is visible from the dining area. I have been here before they change the menu. It of course has gone up as other places have gone up in price. I sat in the front area and the seats definitely were overdue for cushioning/repair. It was very uncomfortable to sit on! I don't remember them being this uncomfortable before when I sat on them! The food is still good. But the quantity of food has gone down. I ordered the Carne Asada. I used to get two Steak strips I only got one , although still very tasty. I also ordered the Torta Toluquena. Which is a sandwich with tasty combination of chorizo and roasted pork and other ingredients. The service is very very slow so if you have lots of time on your hand this place is for you! So glad a friend showed me this spot that has some legit tacos. You can tell by the folks that work here that they have traditional Mexican food. As in street tacos, not the overpriced $5+ tacos in fancy restaurants. I got a fried fish and al pastor taco ($3ish per taco). They were both delicious. They had Valencia hot sauce here, which is a bonus. Warning: when you get home, you might want to let your clothes air out. I didn't smell it while I was in the restaurant, but I made the mistake of putting my clothes in my closet; the next morning I walked in and it smelled of onions...yikes! Came here last night during Covid to try out some new tacos and wasn't disappointed in the food at all. Great pico (thanks Brittany for the recommendation!) and decent tacos. I really wanted to love this place but it just left me with a stomach ache. Ambiance: The major qualm I have about this place is that it is NASTY. The floor was literally in a film of grease throughout the whole place. So many tables were not cleaned and tbh, it looked like a 90s McDonald's in there (a greasy wreck and not the new modern hotel looking McDonald's lol) I'm not a picky gal about cleanliness on buhi and hole in the wall places but bruh, at least clean off the tables? I should've walked out after I saw how dirty the restaurant was but I shrugged it off as just the charm of Buhi and now I'm paying for it the next day. The bathroom was out of paper towels as well so if you like to wash your hands before you eat (especially during Covid), just bank on air drying your hands by waving them around. Food: I got the pastor, steak, and shrimp tacos and they were huge. We also got cheese dip and pico. Both dips were fantastic! The pico really does taste super fresh. The steak tacos were too fatty and gristly for my liking but the corn tortillas were delish. I was brought here by a Mexican friend who hates Tex-Mex and only tries to find very authentic places to eat so that says a lot. Some stuff they offer, that isn't as likely to be found as often, are the Nopalitos, Mole, Menudo, Pozole, and they also have a lot of Seafood Dishes. I ordered Fajitas Mixtas because that's usually what I get. The Mixtas comes with steak, chicken, and shrimp and are served with sautéed veggies. I loved the homemade tortillas as well. The food was good. Only concern I have was with the staff, and how dirty the restaurant was. I think they could work on that and maybe the experience would've been better. Solid place for tacos; tacos are a decent size, more-so "normal size" as opposed to the small street tacos. I got the lengua and pastor taco and both were decent. The lengua was tender! Alone, the tacos are a bit bland, but the salsa verde is good - adds some flavor and a subtle kick. I believe the pastor was $3.49 and the lengua was $3.69, or something along those lines. I usually order the carne asada tacos, which are simple, tasty, and dependable. They come topped with traditional accoutrements - onions and cilantro :) You order the nachos however you want them and they make them perfectly every time! DO NOT ORDER from this place, whatever you do. In our case, they only delivered two meals -- after we ordered three and have the receipt to prove it. Calling the restaurant and explaining the matter was akin to trying to explain quantum physics to a chimpanzee. Yes, there was a language barrier, but it went well beyond that as both my wife and I speak Spanish, while listening to them attempt to blame the problem on Grubhub -- who delivered everything they were given. To add insult to injury, after they told us they would make good and deliver the third meal to correct what they f_cked up, they did not. Consequently, we had to dispute the charge after 3 1/2 hours from the time we ordered the original meal and received nothing, despite being told otherwise. The worst part of all of this is that we were loyal customers, ordering from this place on a regular basis. My point: it all went well, until it didn't -- and this is how they treated us after they screwed up absolutely everything, and then did it all over again, when supposedly trying to fix what they initially screwed up.
