We picked up our dinner here tonight. First of all the food looked rushed and one of the lids or more were not secured properly. Food leaked all over the car and then the bag busted all over our driveway. When we called the restaurant back, they only offered to replace our food. We were coming back from somewhere and this was too far to go back and now we're having to order another dinner so we're out $65 plus what we're going to pay for additional food. Big fan since 2017. This unassuming spot is between work and home, so it's perfect for a quick bite and a margarita, or a take out order. The staff is well organized, friendly and efficient so the place runs so smoothly. The standard of food remains good, and they've recently renovated the bar area so it feels much brighter and more modern. The dining room is huge - I've never had to wait to be seated, and have seen several enormous groups (sports teams, after-school groups and big family/friend groups) on multiple occasions. It's impressive how they keep everything running so well that they can accommodate groups at short notice. The menu is exactly what you want when you think of Americanized Mexican food; a fold-out, multi-page wipe-clean book with accurate photos and great specials. In addition, a blackboard out front advertizes daily specials like a 2-for-1 Fajita Monday. The food comes out super fast on steaming hot plates; the free salsa has a great kick to it, and the chips are perfectly salted and fresh. Don't miss the bean dip or queso with jalapeños. My go-to is the Quesadilla Relleño, and my hangover cure craving is the Bravos Plate of cheesy rice and chicken. The house margaritas are cheap and really good. Los Bravos is a real neighborhood gem (I've bumped into my actual neighbors here multiple times!) and easy to access from Dunwoody/Perimeter, just off Johnson Ferry. The new Publix next door is already bringing in new diners and it's wonderful to see the place buzzing and busy. Give it a try when you want good quality, basic American-Mexican food and fast/friendly service, and you won't be disappointed. read more

this is the Brookhaven location. The food was very salty. The rice was salty, the chicken was salty, the cheese dip was salty. The salsa was spicy so some of us could not eat it. The food is very American Tex-mex but they seem to use a high amount of salt on everything. The mexican restaurants on Buford Highway are far better and the food has lots of favors. I ordered online and the food was delivered via Uber Eats. The Carne Asada tacos were amazing, seasoned to perfection. The California steak burrito though was slightly disappointing. Not sure what cut they use, but it was tough and chewy. I looked at a piece of the meat and it was still pink... that part was fine because usually at other places I get my steak medium or medium rare depending on the cut, but no way steak in a burrito should be tough and chewy. So if if I had any advice for this restaurant in Decatur, either use the same meat you use for the Asada tacos or choose a different cut for the steak burritos. read more

Solid local Tex-Mex in the family owned tradition. This is located in a strip mall near Blackburn Park that has been in decline since the grocery closed, but is very accessible to the area. It seems to have gotten some poor reviews lately based in delivery/take out services that the restaurant really has no control over. The outside is non pretentious, the interior clean and traditional. They have a full bar service with an emphasis on margaritas and imported beers. I have eaten here twice now and am very glad I gave it a second chance as the second experience was much better than the first. The first time was a late lunch and I was the only customer in the place. I got the lunch fajitas special and it was just ok. Stale chips, slow service, on that visit alone, I would have probably gone 1-2 stars. Well I came back and it was much better. I went deeper on the menu this time with the Burrito Tipicos. They have a really extensive menu but the portion size and cost seem beyond what I need for lunch when I have to get back to work. I would really like to explore some of their more traditional items when I can save the leftovers. So on my second trip the service was excellent and the food hot and fresh. I may have gone 5 stars if not for my first visit. So give this place a try although I do recommend skipping the lunch and combo dinners and going for something a bit more adventurous. Mexican themed restaurant that serves tasty, some close-enough to authentic Mexican items. I was especually surprised on the great quality of the tacos al pastor, and it reminded me a bit of the same on Mexico City streets. Nevertheless, as usual, the wheat tortillas are very different and far away from the real thing. In this specific case of al pastor, corn tortilla is the way to go in any case and it provides the most authentic sensation. I love Mexican food, so I decided to go all out, try something different and get the Hawaiian Chicken Fajitas. This dish comes plated in an actual Pineapple. The food arrived quickly and looked like the picture on the menu. I started digging in and noticed more Chorizo than Chicken and/or Pineapple. It was good, but tasted salty. I'm seriously puzzled as to the 3 star average for Los Bravos. I've ordered from it more times than I can count. Well, at least more than I can remember. It's always good, mostly-authentic Mexican food (the default on soft tacos is a wheat tortilla, my personal preference, over the more traditional corn tortilla). The tacos - on a hard shell - are very high quality. I usually get the Barbacoa, which is excellent. The rice and beans are exactly what they claim to be - yellow rice and refried beans - but they're there to supplement the meal, not dominate it. With the Barbacoa, the pork comes in chunks that fall apart deliciously. The onions, almost the only other component of the dish, have a perfect level of crunch and taste amazing. The chips, which you get for free, are quite good, and their salsas aren't there to adorn the table, they're there to take a dish from good to great. Look, the place is simple, unpretentious. I've never sat down inside, but it's great delivery. I haven't found another Mexican place in Atlanta that approaches the quality here, and I'm always looking for new spots. I absolutely recommend Los Bravos. It's not trying to be something it's not, it's trying to be authentic, and it's doing a damn good job. read more

I see this place has a lot of negative reviews, but for my experience yesterday it was nothing but positives - at least for what we were getting (knowing it is pretty Americanized Mexican food). I went with a group of nine and we were seated immediately. A few of the group had been there and were excited to get our waiter, who was fantastic. We quickly got lots of good chips and waters all around. We decided to order two margarita towers which was a thrill. The margarita was decent, quite sweet but definitely strong. I got the tacos al pastor, which I devoured. They are very stuffed and come with cilantro and onions to add to one's liking. The rice and beans were hearty and solid. I came here today for lunch with my partner after he previously ate here. Los Bravos is located in a little strip mall with lots of parking. Upon entering at noon, they had a pretty full seating in the main area. We were seated immediately and this is definitely a lunch place you can get in and out of within an hour. They have a pretty extensive menu and the lunch menu is very reasonably priced. He ordered the Lunch Chimichanga with beef tips ($7.95) and I ordered the Lunch Steak Fajitas ($10.95). The complimentary chips and salsa were also super yummy! The salsa has a nice kick, but still mild enough to enjoy. He opted for rice instead of the guacamole salad on his chimichangas and enjoyed the amount of beef on the inside and the queso it was doused in. The steak fajitas came with 3 tortillas which I found to be more than enough for me and a decent serving of steak. I personally didn't care too much for their rice, but I thought their beans were pretty much on-par compared to other Mexican restaurants. Our lunch combined after tip came to around ~$24 which is pretty good. I would come here again for the food. Note: There is a sign on their entry door saying to not ask waiters to wear a mask or their vaccination status or you could be asked to leave. Starting off, the chips and salsa are free, which is great! The waiter was also very nice and gave us great service/refills. The salsa is on the spicier side of medium, and tastes pretty good. I got the #18 combo, which comes with an enchilada, burrito, beans, and rice. By default, it comes with ground beef, but can have other meat subbed in. The red sauce was tasty, and the beans and rice are the standard Mexican restaurant beans and rice - exactly what I want out of beans and rice. Inside the burrito & enchilada was just meat, nothing else which is alright. I guess the difference is really just the corn vs flour tortilla, and the burrito being ever so slightly larger. The ground beef was "alright" and that's about all I can say about it. It's nothing special, not super flavorful, but didn't taste bad or anything like that. It's about the consistency of taco bell ground beef, but not quite as "soupy" as taco bell beef is, and also a little less flavored. I probably wouldn't get ground beef again, but I would try a different meat, maybe steak if they allow that. Overall, they've got a lot of menu options, and I'd come back again! read more

I stopped in for lunch. It was so quiet there that they didn't really have anybody at the front. So the bartender had to seat me, which I thought was strange giving the fact that it was about 1:30 in the afternoon. Which is prime lunch time. Got to my seat, everything was pretty okay though. Can't complain. Went ahead and tried the chips, they were good. Ordered the Texas fajita, and two chicken tacos. The chicken was pretty good. It had a lot of flavor in it. Although I needed the salsa because it wasn't the most moist, but it was still good though. The fajita, had chickens, steak, and shrimp. It didn't really have as much steak as I would have liked, but the shrimp was huge. It was nothing I would run back for, but it was filling. If I was in the area, I would probably stop back again. But it would be nothing that I would rush and run toward as if I missed it. But I would definitely go again to maybe try something else, just to make sure! I have ordered from them many times in the past few months and every single order has been wrong. Missing items, and jalapeños everywhere -- even inside items on combination meals where they never were before! The chef here apparently loves jalapeños and will put them on and in everything, even if you ask specifically for mild because it's for kids. Sadly, I can't recommend them any more. read more

Haven't really been out to the Brookhaven area yet, due to still being in quarantine. However, we got to try some food from that side of town yesterday. We saw this option on Uber Eats with a pretty high rating and decided to give it a go. I love Mexican food and haven't had anything other than Taco Bell, Chipotle, and store-bought tamales for the past couple of months. So I needed to fix that and get my authentic craving handled properly. We ordered several things... Well, I ordered several things I should say lol. My fiance got the steak quesadilla and nachos. I got the supreme enchiladas meal, a tamale, side of rice, and side of guacamole which comes with chips. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal. My favorites were definitely the guacamole and rice. The guacamole was perfectly creamy, just the way I like it. I've never been a huge fan of overly crunchy guac, so this was great. The rice was also perfectly cooked and seasoned. (I can't stand when a restaurant dries the rice out). Honorable mentions were the enchiladas and steak quesadilla. I enjoyed that they have four different kinds of enchiladas in the supreme meal - bean, cheese, chicken, and shredded beef. I wasn't a big fan of the ground beef sauce they put on the enchiladas or on the nachos, mostly due to seasoning. I'm not sure what it is, but this is the second time I've had ground beef or sauce from a Mexican restaurant that had an underlying smell/aftertaste of dog food. I kid you not, if you open up a can of Alpo and that smell hits your nose, that's what I'm talking about. Not even trying to be mean or anything, and not sure why I've experienced this twice from two different Mexican restaurants about 5000 miles apart, but it's not very pleasant when you encounter it. In any case, the other enchiladas were pretty tasty, and I appreciate that all the dishes were packed in aluminum containers or solid plastic reusable ones. The steak quesadilla also seemed to be a solid option. I had a small bite. Good amount of meat. Note to self though: order sour cream next time for quesadillas or nachos. I always forget that it's not traditionally served, but my fiance and I love our sour cream. I guess the least favorite items would have to be the nachos and tamale, mostly due to the use of that funny smelling ground beef again. The tamale was basically plain it seemed, but it was covered in the ground beef sauce. The nachos of course were covered in ground beef, but I think what I liked least about it was that the dish was soggy because the topping was already on the chips. Granted they have a generous amount of chips on the side, but I think they should've packed the meat and chips separately in entirety. I've seen other restaurants do this for delivery and it definitely makes the most sense. My delivery driver had a stop before our place too, so that's even more time for food like that to get soggy. Overall, I probably would order from this place again, because I really love a good guacamole and appreciate moist rice - which believe it or not, a lot of places bungle. This is the perfect neighborhood restaurant. I have never had a bad meal here. As soon as you sit, they bring you the best chips and Salsa without charge...just excellent. The wait staff is right on it all we love the menu.... This restaurant is very fair priced and old school Mexican. Los Bravos is the best local go to Mexican spot! I've been going to Bravos for years now and I come for the food and stay for the stronggggg margaritas. Good luck finishing a jumbo and walking out of the restaurant on two feet. The atmosphere is great and the service is attentive and pleasant. There's a ton of parking and it's in a great location of nearby eateries and attractions. Again, love their margaritas so definitely recommend those. They've got strawberry, raspberry, mango, lime, etc. Try it! As for food, they automatically give you pretty decent chips and salsa. For dinner, I've had the chimichangas, quesadillas, and plates. They're all yummy and tasty and very well made. The flavors here are addicting. Recently I got the burrito tampiqueño as I was in the mood for steak. It was a lot of food and there's jalapeño peppers in it so beware if you don't like a good kick and it was very good! Also beware, the plates are massive so expect leftovers! Trust me, it's even better the next day! Overall, Los Bravos is a go to staple in the area. I don't think you'll regret it and I highly recommend trying it. read more
