New Mexican restaurant opened in Newport News across the street from Dodges on Jefferson Ave in the Denbigh area. I had a Chicken Quesadilla from the lunch menu, which comes with rice and refried beans. Not bad for $10.00. Weird charge I saw on my receipt was $.50 for takeout. Aside from that the dish was made to order, hot and pretty damn good. I look forward to trying other items on the menu.

Do you miss Papa Nacho? Are you looking for a great Mexican spot that isn't over crowded and super commercialized? Drive the extra couple minutes and come visit. The menu is fire! The vibe is perfect, and the drinks are flowing!

They're located right next to one of our favorite spots Amirtha Curry. They're only open past 5pm. Let's see how things went When we walked inside, one of the staff asked if we had a reservation. Turns out the place is small with probably 11-12 tables in total. But luckily, a table was available and we were able to be seated. The decor inside was spotless and a bar is in the middle. The next time we dine in, I'll be sire to take photos when I get the chance. After looking over the menu for a few minutes, we decided to order a Denbigh pizza, one of their red sauce items. The toppings were pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. Since they were out of sausage, we chose ham as the substitute. Very good stuff. The pizza was cooked perfectly and there were plenty of toppings before our very eyes. We ended up taking half of the pie home where it was still delicious when warmed up. There you have it. We have both found a hidden gem in our neck of the woods. Yoi know we'll be back soon :)

The Bread Board is a must! The focaccia and sweet corn muffin paired wonderfully with the homemade butters. Don't skip it. The cocktails are delicious with an interesting twist, too. Had a great time celebrating a friend's birthday here over the weekend. Initially we were told…read morethere would be a set 3 course menu because of the size of the dinner party but upon arrival they were out of many things on that menu. They were also out of the snake river Wagyu ribeye and strip steak. We were told they didn't receive a shipment of meat. The food was really good regardless of that, luckily they had three orders of lamb chops left so some of us ordered the rest of that. I like that when you order a steak it already comes with two sides. Other steakhouses you would have to order sides à la carte. The cocktails were amazing and service was great. Only thing that was a little weird was we had two birthdays and asked the manager if they happened to do a complimentary birthday dessert or something for the two birthday guest. He responded politely with we don't do any birthday desserts but you can order champagne since it's a celebration. Mind you it's a party of 12 and each couple's bill was at least 250+. Nonetheless, we had a great time and money was well spent, definitely worth trying out!

Our waiter, Alexa, provided above-and-beyond service throughout our experience. She was friendly,…read moreknowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and genuinely committed to making my wife Kim's birthday dinner special. The ambiance is lovely specially the see-cook kitchen. The food was seasoned to perfection, with portions that were completely satisfying. The wine pairing was exquisite, and Alexa's recommendation was spot-on. The house brownie-cheesecake was also outstanding--rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced without being overpowered by chocolate. Unfortunately, our experience was negatively impacted by a mistake with our appetizer, the Duck Confit. Alexa handled the situation professionally, courteously apologized, and did everything within her ability to address the issue. However, I was disappointed that the restaurant manager never came to our table to personally acknowledge or apologize for the mistake. To make matters worse, there was no acknowledgment or farewell from the host as we exited. This was my wife's birthday dinner, an occasion that deserved a higher level of attention and hospitality from the management team. Alexa demonstrated what exceptional customer service looks like, but the lack of management follow-through and acknowledgment ultimately affected our overall experience. For these reasons, Steak & Tonic receives 3 out of 5 stars from us. The food and Alexa's service were excellent, but management's handling of the situation fell short of the standard I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Very disappointed with the management Team. V/r, Eddie Velez evelez.131@outlook.com

But I still had this place on my mind to try... Well the Saturday before Christmas, myself and 5 others decided to go out for brunch and this was suggested. I did not know what to expect as I had only heard a few people mention this place, but I was eager to try it. I must say, we arrived right on time. This place seemed small inside at first glance, but from what I know now, they have more seating in the back of the restaurant, but we were able to dine in front near the bar without worry. Our waitress Ms. Vickie was an absolute pleasure! We ordered our drinks and meals... I cannot speak for everyone but for me and mine... My husband had the chicken plate with sides - tore it up! Now me y'all - I decided to order the platter because everything on the platter I liked. I must say in my 40+ years of life, I have never ordered a platter anywhere!!! It is always an item or two I want to sub, but this one here, give it all to me! Now I did ask Ms Vickie if I could get the shrimp steamed... OK fried it is :) For the wings and shrimp you can choose a dipping sauce or have the item sauced (I believe). I opted to have mine on the side. Yall...bomb!! Just bomb!! Everything on the platter was so so so so good! Before the plate reached the table, I told my husband he was gonna have to help me eat it. I didn't need any help if I wanted to be greedy or if I knew it would be that good... but he did eat a few things. He agreed, it was very good! My drinks were superb! Some of the fellas ordered mules - they were pleased! Overall just a great first time! I saw at least one other larger party (10 or 12) near us and Ms Vickie advised a head of time, there would be a wait before placing the order to the kitchen to avoid back up - super understandable, but mentioning that makes all the difference in the world. Now the ball is in our court to wait or leave, that's how I see it. Oh we waited. We enjoyed the atmosphere and our company! Oh no wait for the drinks - they were flowing :) Please hold on to Ms. Vickie - her spirit is amazing and the vibe inside is super high!! Plenty of parking. Have fun and enjoy life :)
