The rocks in our front yard had been there for 30 years and were definitely begging to be replaced. I wanted something more attractive and updated, and that is exactly what I got. Angel came out, measured everything, and within a couple of days sent me an estimate. I received three estimates, and his was not the least expensive, but after talking with him, I felt confident that he was honest, knowledgeable, and knew exactly what he was doing. It took me more than a week to make my decision, and then I had to wait my turn. About three weeks later, they were ready to begin my project. Angel was extremely patient with me because I could not make up my mind about the rock colors. My husband and I went to Cinderlite and brought home samples, but I still wasn't sure. Angel even made another trip to get additional samples and brought them to me. I finally found the colors I wanted! The crew worked in extremely hot conditions, yet every day they left my front yard clean and orderly. They did not install the rock until I had approved the design, which they first painted out on the weed barrier so I could see exactly how it would look. I was also concerned about my trees getting enough water. They checked each tree before putting the rock down and then checked them again afterward, which gave me a lot of peace of mind. Requested bids and designs to remove all the grass in the backyard, install sitting walls around trees with flag stone steps and zero scape setting. The rabbits and voles wreaked havoc in our backyard. We've had to replace our lawn twice. Jeff with Rock Solid Landscaping responded. We agreed to meet and walk the yard. We wanted 3 mounds with larger rocks around with native plants. The crew started everyday at 7am and worked until 4pm. They were always on time and worked a full day. This job was completed in 2 weeks. They delivered a porta potty, bobcat in front of our home. They put cones for safety. They are very organized, when dirt, rocks were delivered they moved to backyard. Then they swept the street and/or driveway to keep clean. Our neighbors complemented on the nice job of keeping street clean. Juan Carlos and his 2 workers were very well organized. They always cleaned up at the end of the day. So we decided to purchase paver material ourselves directly from Ewing and save the "up-charge" from Fernando. He seemed to be surprised that we didn't want to pay him the increased cost for materials (a couple thousand $$) Easy to order and $200 delivery charge from Ewings. He recently quoted $2500 for wall materials we could purchase directly from Ewings for $1300. I don't mind paying a fair price for installation labor, but not double for material costs. To me, not passing thru actual material cost and perhaps any potential "contractor discount" is not a good look for a business practice. It's very easy to obtain the cost of a pallet from any supplier and compare to a materials quote. Nobody likes the feeling of being "taken advantage of" If you decide to use Fernando, do your homework and price the material costs of pavers and walls. The pavers Fernando and his workers installed about a month ago have lost the poly sand filler on ALL the edges. He said it needed to "be taped", but apparently that was not done initially and now we will need to repair it. He did not offer to fix this as part of the project we paid for. All the other new yard work Fernando and his team did for us with installing irrigation pipes and sprinklers and DG on side yards was great and at price we agreed upon. We provided itemization edits of specific work on the invoices, otherwise they were "way too general". He or one of his workers made a decision of sprinkler valve placement in a different location than what was discussed. That issue was corrected after it was noticed. His business acumen has a bit to be desired and his attitude to being customer friendly waxed and waned, which was difficult to deal with at times.

I work with contractors for a living and I have never met anyone who works as hard as Fernando. He took a backyard that was nothing but dirt and turned it into my own personal paradise. I contacted Garden Design through Yelp and received a response the same day. Fernando accommodated my schedule to meet with me since my time was limited here prior to the close on my home. He provided photos of some of his work and even took me to see some of his completed projects. I was impressed with everything I saw. Getting my backyard completed was a priority for me since I have dogs. I closed on my house on a Friday and Fernando came on Saturday to finalize the scope of the work. He started the project that Monday and was finished within two weeks. Not only is Fernando the hardest working guy I've met, he is very nice, friendly and a pleasant person to work with. Creative Gardens has an actual retail store in Sparks so you can always find them. We dealt with the owner, CJ, who was very knowledgeable on designing a backyard. He listened to what we wanted and then produced a virtual reality model of it on a large screen right there in the office. He had the ability to make real time changes as we requested them. This is a family operated business with CJ being the 3rd generation owner. His mom is the office manager and his sister runs the retail operations of the store. From the minute we walked in the door, they put us at ease and made us feel very welcome. The fact that they could make real world changes on the computer sold us on going with them. It was that and how well they treated us from the moment we walked into the business. During the build we had multiple changes and additions. The field supervisor, Jeff, is awesome to work with and doesn't know the word "no". He always says "we can do that". Their work crews were also great. Their crew leader, Cruz, can build just about anything and runs a tight ship. We really couldn't be happier with our backyard and the relationships we built with the Creative Garden staff.
