a variety of tools laid out on a concrete surface

(They also DBA LandArt) They charge a premium price for average performance. And on top of that, they are like most any contractor today...generally, most of the workers don't care and they don't respect the customer. Our project was concrete work and it was okay; the entire process was nothing special. But there were several instances where their condescending attitude towards the customer's property were very evident compared to the performance of a truly good contractor. They were to install new drainage pipe from the existing gutter downspouts down under the new concrete pad (which they did) but they don't make any connections. (picture) And why do they do this...because they don't care. The new drainage was terminated with pop-up drains which do not work because they don't receive enough flow and they are on level ground. Plus they leak since no one glued the connections. And why do they do this...because they don't care. When they removed the wooden form boards after the pour, they tossed the nails into the lawn so that, apparently, they could become shrapnel when I ran them over with the mower. (picture) And why do they do this...because they don't care. When excavating soil in the middle of the lawn to set the forms, a good contractor would put the soil onto a tarp to preserve the lawn. But they, of course, tossed the excavation directly onto the lawn, walked all over it and tamped the soil into a hard pack. And why do they do this...because they don't care. When pouring concrete very close to a house, a good contractor takes some time to protect the structure from splash-over. But they, of course, don't so now I get to repaint the newly painted bottom trim of the patio area. And why do they do this...because they don't care. They moved some sprinkler heads but when reattaching the heads, they glued them into a fixed position...sprinkler heads are supposed to be installed on swivels so that you can shift/raise/lower them to their finished height. One sprinkler head was left almost three inches too high. (I had to correct that so that the mower didn't cut it off.) And why do they do this...because they don't care. I do not recommend this organization.

    Sad shrub

They generally know their stuff, but are expensive. The design was pretty nice, and they coordinated with the subcontractors. The planning and work took forever. Details I requested were ignored. Some plants chosen were not correct for their location. Once the final payment was made, no one answered my calls. I am still trying to get some dead plants replaced.

Top fence rail installation incorrect. In neighbor's yard out of our sight.

We decided to switch from a yard full of grass to a mostly-xeriscaped yard. The project included removing the existing grass, shrubs, sprinklers, concrete walkway and water lines and replacing them with pavers, rock, creek bed pebbles, shrubs, boulders, decorative lighting, drip system, electrical lines attached to timers, a mailbox pillar, and an additional step added to the entryway. After researching many companies and interviewing four, we ended up choosing Nevada Pavers & Stone. Rafael, the owner, spent a lot of time with us to determine exactly what we wanted and he was also very patient as we requested changes both before the project started and during the renovation, clearly stating if a change was included or if it would be an additional cost so there would be no surprises. Once he and his crew started the job, they did not want to stop until they finished. I mention this because often contractors will start a project, only to leave in the middle of it to work on someone else's project then return at a later date. We appreciated that this was not the case with Nevada Pavers & Stone. The crew was ready to work by 8 a.m. every morning, sometimes earlier. They worked hard all day, every day (at times they were actually jogging when transferring materials from the truck to the yard) and were respectful of our property and our neighbors' property, cleaning up as they went and at the end of each workday. They were also professionals - they knew what was expected and how to do it, and we never heard loud voices, questionable language, or loud music (in fact I did not hear any music at all, which I would not have minded). The project included many drip lines and electrical wire being run for shrubs and lighting, all of which are nicely hidden as they were buried under the new ground cover. Rafael also built a pillar for our mailbox, to which he added a decorative light on top and lighted address numbers on the front. We are very happy with our front yard. If you need a landscape design company, Nevada Pavers & Stone, LLC should be on your very short list of companies to contact.

I can't stop recommending Longhorn to anyone who will listen to me…read more I started my backyard remodel project with a general idea of what I wanted to accomplish - we needed to level the yard, replace and extend a caved in patio, build a retaining wall, remove rock and dirt and replace it with grass, and build benches around trees. Like most people do with major projects, I had a few companies come out to discuss and provide quotes. I was generally underwhelmed and started to think about delaying the project until we met Alfredo. Not only did he listen to my ideas and talk about how to accomplish them, but he came up with additional ideas that were even better suited to our ultimate goal of a family-friendly yard. And then he patiently explained material options so we could make a project that fit within our budget. When it was time to start construction, Tito led an amazing team. They were incredibly professional, and so accommodating to my requests for project tweaks and attention to small details. I really feel like we were given the all-star team. They took their time, and did beautiful work. My small family now has an incredible backyard to grow and play in. I'm so glad we didn't rush this project, and I can't thank Alfredo and his team enough.
