Honestly, this is a fair spot to go to get some thing quick and you're hungry, but I wouldn't deliberately choose to come here. The reason why is because the food is dry and the meat was stringy and hard and the sides were a bit too burnt. The plantains were dry and a bit too bland. The pupusas were pretty good and cheesy but they were very oily so make sure to dab the oil with the napkins. The music is loud and it's a very quick and easy fast food type restaurant. The tables were kind of dirty, but I think they do the best in regards to making sure things were clean. The front cashier really only understands Spanish but I came with a friend who is from PR, so the transaction was fast and easy. We didn't really know what this white sauce was though; it tasted like a garlic mayo, but it didn't really go with the dish itself. Ordered 3 tacos take out. By the time I sat down to wait my food was ready. Steak tacos were overcooked so the meat was chewy. The chicken in my chicken taco half of the meat was probably a day old. Staff brings out the food to your table. 4. Chow. Food: Honestly, I have no idea what is Chicharrón, but after a few bite. I believe that it is suppose to be deep fried chucks of pork. It is ok, just ok. If they would cut the Chicharrón's chunk in half and make sure the cut of pork has a tad bit more fat, then it would be awesome. To the highlight of the meal, it is the Yuca. A little crisp to the outside, and just the right tenderness to the inside, the Yuca alone would bring me back to El Rinconcito Del Sabor. This El Salvadoran place is a little bit tough to find, but it's located right behind the CVS of that plaza. Very simple interior, but a bit on the dingy side. Soup seems to be the popular item here, unfortunately, we didn't get to try any because we were doing take out. Unsure of the reason, since there was no elaboration and there is somewhat of a small language barrier here. Most of the items are numbered and have pictures. We tried the pupusas, sopes, and the chuleta (pork chop). The pork chop entree comes with a small salad, refried pinto beans, rice, and a tomato-based, pepper, and onion sauce. The fried pork chops were overcooked and pretty much had the chew of jerky; hard and dry. I'm not really quite sure how anyone keeps all of their teeth while eating this pork chop. The accompanying sauce was good though. The pinto beans are of the runnier kind, but still filling. Sopes were good and topped with lengua (beef tongue), so had that nice beefy taste. However, the sope base itself was hard as a rock. However, the sopes were probably one of the better items. Th slaw for the pupusas were fresh, tasty, and crunchy. Do pass on the arroz con leche (rice pudding). While the flavor overall was nice, sweet, and full of spices, the texture was terrible. The rice was severely undercooked. Rinconcito del Sabor is a Salvadoran and Mexican spot. This is definitely the best that you'll get in Loudoun, by far! However, I am not from Loudoun and I must say that I know better. This is far from the best I've had. The main issue that I have is that the they cook their meats DEAD. The meats are cooked far too hard for my taste. On the positive side, the tacos are awesome and very authentic. The curtido (pickled cabbage slaw) is pretty good too. The homemade hot sauces are tasty too. And yes, the place is super tough to find. It's in the Sterling Park Plaza (with the Big Lots), but you have to either park in front of CVS and walk through the plaza or go around CVS to the back of the plaza where, surprisingly, there are like 4 Salvadoran restaurants and a couple of other businesses. read more

Was craving some south of the border style food and after debating what place to hit in the area, we decided to try this place out based on some yelp reviews. It did not disappoint! Being local to Sterling, I had no trouble finding the place, so half my journey was already in the bag. Upon entering we were greeted with smiles and we looked over the large picture menu. I was thankful for the picture menu, because I don't speak the native tongue there, so the big pictures helped steer me in the right direction. I went with a #1 combo and the gf went with a couple chicken tamales and a plantain empanada. The food took a little while to come out, but that was fine, because we weren't in any hurry and presumably they were making everything fresh, so we just sat there getting all hungry excited. The nice lady brought our food out. My combo platter had the full spread on it (see picture). Meat, eggs, generous slice of avocado, beans, cheese, plantains, sour cream and a side of plain pupusas or thick tortillas... not sure what they're called. Only thing I didn't really get too excited about was the refried beans. They were luke warm and a little more runny than I'm accustomed to. Still ate them though, so can't complain too loud. However, the star of the show was the chicken tamales; so moist and delicious with fresh chicken in them. if you could solidify all the goodness of homemade chicken soup into a corn wrapped solid, thats what it tasted like. The plantain empanada was fluffy, yet a little crunchy and sweet and delicious. Nice way to wrap up the meal. We raved about the food all night long, and even the next morning. If I could give less then a 1 star I would. Never get the chicharrones. Its way over priced $5.99 for 1/2 lb 10.99 for 1 lb for what they ASSume is the right weight. I ordered 1/2 lb and when I received the order there were only 5 tiny pieces that did not weigh anything. I think the two wedges of limes weighed more then the chicharrones. NOT WORTH IT!!! Went back and asked if the order was correct and the short mean looking lady was super RUDE and thew attitude to me and my 13 year old daughter. This seems like a great place but the people that work there should be a bit more friendly. They depend on us as customers because there are plenty of other places we can take our money to. These are some of the best pupusas yet. There's three other pupuserias in strip mall, and this one is a hidden gem. I could barely finish my plates. Me and my eating buddy ordered breakfast plates of steak and plantains, three pupusas, three carne asada tacos and two sweet (non-chalky) horchatas. This restaurant is squeaky clean, including the really, really blue bathrooms. I'm glad they speak English here, although I heard differently, because my Espanol is a bit rusty. I've only had takeout from here. My husband loves their carne asada and they give a very large portion of the carne. I had the pechuga guisado which is grilled chicken breast. The chicken was good and plentiful. It came with a sad side salad, rice that was relatively plain and very tasty beans, but a very small portion of beans, like half the size of a chipotle guac container. Very small which is disappointing. We also had an order of fried yucca which was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. read more

The suburbs are mostly vacant of culture, but it's local places like this that prove that Northern Virginia has DC beat on cheap ethnic foods. Adams Morgan's Super Tacos doesn't hold a candle to this place. The carne asada taco is packed full of beautiful seared steak (probably bought fresh from the nearby butcher in the Hispano Mercadito II), with a thick wedge of ripe avocado, a handful of chopped cilantro, and a sliver of radish. On the side are as many lime slices as you have tacos, and a watery green salsa with little flavor, but the slow-building heat of a habanero base. The home-made tortilla has heft -- corn-based and thus slightly brittle, it soaks up the red luminous grease of the steak. A taqueria is usually as good as it is hard to find. As mentioned in another review, El Rinconcito is indeed "across from the CVS," but not on the side near Sterling Blvd that has the open parking lot and el Mercadito. (As I discovered when a group of giggling Mexican schoolgirls gave me a pamphlet for their Pentacostal church, and directed me to El Sabor.) It is on the other side, in a cramped shopping center next to the Sheriff's office. They do not speak any English here. I wanted to order more tacos, but I felt awkward because I couldn't remember how to say "What other kinds of tacos do you have?" I guess four years of high-school Spanish were effectively erased by five years of drunken higher education, but this place gives me an incentive to brush up. After reading several favorable reviews on Yelp, I really wanted to like El Rinconcito, but unfortunately I can only give it two stars. I will give them credit for good service - the gentleman behind the counter spoke perfect English and handled my order efficiently. Unfortunately, as I waited for my order, I started to smell an unpleasant odor. Shortly thereafter, my order was announced (pupusas and taco) and I suspected the odor was my food. (The odor overpowered the awful smell of cleaning chemical mentioned by another reviewer.) My worst fears were realized when I got into my car with my carry-out order - it stank. About five minutes later, I tried to enjoy my meal. The taco was marginal; a little bland, but no offensive flavor. The pupusa (singular, as I only attempted to eat one) was the worst I've ever tried. It was soggy and fragile, and so hot that I'm convinced it had been microwaved. I think the pupusa and condiments were the source of the odor. I didn't even touch the condiments, and lost my appetite before eating half of the first pupusa. I wish you good luck, El Rinconcito, but this customer is unlikely to return. read more

I stumbled upon this place while trying to ship something via FedEx, and then needing to feed the growing hunger in my gut. I quick perusal of the the surrounding area lead me to a few options, but this one stuck out for its obvious hole in the wall characteristics, combined with sinage that was only in Spanish, and a clientele that seemed to be all native Spanish speakers. Figuring this to be one of my better options, or at least more authentic, I wandered in and attempted to utilize my Latin major to speak some Spanish to the lady behind the counter. This failed me quickly as Spanish is technically based on Latin, but then again so is English. I ended up doing a whole lot of grunt and point, but ended up with exactly what I wanted. Upon receiving my food, I opened the styrofoam container, to have my senses literally assaulted by all things beautiful. The smell was perfect. The look was amazing, and my palate began to water even more than before. I squeezed a little lime on my taco and tossed a bit of their salsa on it and bit in to have a bite of one of the more perfect tacos that I have ever tasted. Since this point, I go back at least weekly. I have also tried their papusas, and since I am far from an expert in papusa gastronomy, I can only say that I enjoy them immensely, but have no idea how authentic or perfect they are in that regard. I tend to have a hard time convincing my workmates of this places beauty, mostly because they are a tad more uptight about things such as cleanliness, etc. Me... Four stars for a place in Sterling (no disrespect to Sterling, but in a bigger town this might be closer to the average). This place has great food and tons of comfortable seating at a very low price. The red sauce served with the pupusas is delicious on them. Sopa de Mariscos is probably the best soup I've ever had. A huge portion of tasty broth consisting of a decent size piece of fish, a full crab, 4-5 jumbo shrimp, a handful of scallops, a muscle, and a piece of squid for about $12. It also came with 2 tortillas. This soup is big enough to give you a food coma if you eat the whole thing at once but can definitely last 2 meals. I am new to Salvadorian food, but this was my favorite so far. Pupusa was filled with cheese and a good cabbage and cilantro slaw on the side. I got a corn tamale - crispy on the outside, and sweet corn in the inside - a little plain but a nice side dish. Sopes - may be Mexican vs Salvadorian, carne was in tender small pieces with good seasoning a little beans, cheese, and avocado. My family and I were craving tacos and searched yelp for a good taco place. We decided on this place since it was close and the reviews seemed ok. I'm really glad I took my daughter who speaks fairly good Spanish with me to place a take out order. Truthfully, you need to be a native Spanish speaker to really order well here. That said, my daughter managed to communicate well enough. These tacos are absolutely the best I've had here in northern Virginia. We ordered both beef and chicken tacos. The place was packed so it took a little bit of time to make our order. Honestly, they made it very quickly given we ordered 7 orders of 3 tacos so I wasn't surprised. The tacos come in an order if 3 tacos with a lovely fresh, spicy green salsa and limes wedges. They use corn tortillas that are very fresh and a nicely seasoned meat with a little fresh grated radish and cilantro. It was wonderful! Had the beef tongue tacos (tacos de lengua) and beef soup (sopa de res) and both were exceptionally good. The meat in the tacos was a bit tough at times, but flavored very well. The soup was heaven. I think the best description would be to say that it was like having the "Mexican"-style version of pho. One thing I love about their soups is that they're rustic -the meat is still on the bone in the soup. You get a chunk of corn cob and yuca. The bubbles of fat are sliding over the surface of deliciousness. There is literally nothing better than eating a delicious hot bowl of soup on a cold day. PLACE: If you love authentic mexican food, this is the place to go. The cafeteria type setting and telemundo on tv gives it that feel according to my friend who knows alot with mexico and mexican food. FOOD: I went here for lunch a few times and I'm always satisfied. My favorite are the three soft carne asada tacos and bit of lime and green salsa. I've also tried their papusas for the first time and I gotta say it was really good. My friend who brought me here always get the papusas. "...this is the closest food from mexico [you'll find in this side of town]". i also tried their other porkchop and it was also tasteful. OTHER: Went there today for lunch and their green salsa was gone and they had texas pete out (wasn't as good salsa but it gave it more spice); even their coke was regular corn syrup coke not their usual imported coke with sugar. I want to start by saying this is the worst customer experience I have received!!!! They charged me $150.00 TWICE for a simple order of 4 Pupusas ! I placed my order over the phone and they told me it was going to be 15 minutes I showed up to the store. They make me waited 30 minutes for my order!!! Not only they charge me the wrong amount $$$ for my order as well they gave me the wrong order! I went back to the store the staff are Helpless the manager is no help as well ! This is a very good place to eat very good food. We being going there for years. The owner is an amazing person. Unfortunately, can't say the same thing about the employees. Their rude, never smile and when you have a question they will reply by saying " look at the menu the picture will tell you what's on the plate." We usually get tamalitos de elote at first tasted good everything amazing now, we get them burn and bad smell and taste. Pupusas are all put together by the time I get home there stuck to each other that instead of pupusas I am eating soup of tortilla. Hopefully he could fix the issues to make his place better read more
