I like their carne asada, their costillas and the sopa de res. The place is not fancy at all, just a simple counter ordering and then sit to wait. Food doesn't come out very fast either, so be ready to wait a bit. Customer service is just there to do their job, not very friendly. The prices are reasonable and the food is tasty. Good salvadorian food for a good price.

El Rinconcito Del Sabor, located right across from CVS (Sterling Park Shopping Center)

Establishment: Hidden within Sterling Park Shopping Center right across from CVS. A decent size place with Chinese Take out protocol: 1. Order food at the counter. 2. Pay 3. Staff brings out the food to your table. 4. Chow. Food: Honestly, I have no idea what is Chicharrón, but after a few bite. I believe that it is suppose to be deep fried chucks of pork. It is ok, just ok. If they would cut the Chicharrón's chunk in half and make sure the cut of pork has a tad bit more fat, then it would be awesome. To the highlight of the meal, it is the Yuca. A little crisp to the outside, and just the right tenderness to the inside, the Yuca alone would bring me back to El Rinconcito Del Sabor. Note: These guys/gals at El Rinconcito Del Sabor speak very little English. Just FYI.

This El Salvadoran place is a little bit tough to find, but it's located right behind the CVS of that plaza. Very simple interior, but a bit on the dingy side. Soup seems to be the popular item here, unfortunately, we didn't get to try any because we were doing take out. Unsure of the reason, since there was no elaboration and there is somewhat of a small language barrier here. Most of the items are numbered and have pictures. We tried the pupusas, sopes, and the chuleta (pork chop). The pork chop entree comes with a small salad, refried pinto beans, rice, and a tomato-based, pepper, and onion sauce. The fried pork chops were overcooked and pretty much had the chew of jerky; hard and dry. I'm not really quite sure how anyone keeps all of their teeth while eating this pork chop. The accompanying sauce was good though. The pinto beans are of the runnier kind, but still filling. Sopes were good and topped with lengua (beef tongue), so had that nice beefy taste. However, the sope base itself was hard as a rock. However, the sopes were probably one of the better items. Th slaw for the pupusas were fresh, tasty, and crunchy. Do pass on the arroz con leche (rice pudding). While the flavor overall was nice, sweet, and full of spices, the texture was terrible. The rice was severely undercooked. Will be back to try the soup though. There's 4 types of soup available on the menu: beef, beef tripe, chicken, and seafood.

The picture is deceiving the box was small and so were the lemon wedges. This cost me $6.00 the limes weighed more then the Chicharrones.

If I could give less then a 1 star I would. Never get the chicharrones. Its way over priced $5.99 for 1/2 lb 10.99 for 1 lb for what they ASSume is the right weight. I ordered 1/2 lb and when I received the order there were only 5 tiny pieces that did not weigh anything. I think the two wedges of limes weighed more then the chicharrones. NOT WORTH IT!!! Went back and asked if the order was correct and the short mean looking lady was super RUDE and thew attitude to me and my 13 year old daughter. This seems like a great place but the people that work there should be a bit more friendly. They depend on us as customers because there are plenty of other places we can take our money to. I do hope they get their act together. One friendly advise maybe have a small scale next to the chicharrones so that people can see that they are getting what they are paying for.

    The full spread! soo good.

Was craving some south of the border style food and after debating what place to hit in the area, we decided to try this place out based on some yelp reviews. It did not disappoint! Being local to Sterling, I had no trouble finding the place, so half my journey was already in the bag. Upon entering we were greeted with smiles and we looked over the large picture menu. I was thankful for the picture menu, because I don't speak the native tongue there, so the big pictures helped steer me in the right direction. I went with a #1 combo and the gf went with a couple chicken tamales and a plantain empanada. The food took a little while to come out, but that was fine, because we weren't in any hurry and presumably they were making everything fresh, so we just sat there getting all hungry excited. The nice lady brought our food out. My combo platter had the full spread on it (see picture). Meat, eggs, generous slice of avocado, beans, cheese, plantains, sour cream and a side of plain pupusas or thick tortillas... not sure what they're called. Only thing I didn't really get too excited about was the refried beans. They were luke warm and a little more runny than I'm accustomed to. Still ate them though, so can't complain too loud. However, the star of the show was the chicken tamales; so moist and delicious with fresh chicken in them. if you could solidify all the goodness of homemade chicken soup into a corn wrapped solid, thats what it tasted like. The plantain empanada was fluffy, yet a little crunchy and sweet and delicious. Nice way to wrap up the meal. We raved about the food all night long, and even the next morning. Can't wait to go back and try some more things off their large menu.

    Pupusas & Carne Asada Tacos
    Dennis S.

These are some of the best pupusas yet. There's three other pupuserias in strip mall, and this one is a hidden gem. I could barely finish my plates. Me and my eating buddy ordered breakfast plates of steak and plantains, three pupusas, three carne asada tacos and two sweet (non-chalky) horchatas. This restaurant is squeaky clean, including the really, really blue bathrooms. I'm glad they speak English here, although I heard differently, because my Espanol is a bit rusty. I wish I had stayed in VA longer, just to try all the pupuserias in this complex, but I was happy with E.R.D.S

We initially decided to stop in after seeing some of the food my coworkers had ordered. While I wasn't able to identify exactly what they had from the menu, everything coming out of the kitchen looked fresh and appealing, which convinced us to give it a try. The smash burgers were excellent--cooked well, flavorful, and made to order. We also tried the lamb taco, which was very good and offered something a little different from the usual menu options. My daughters ordered the calamari and enjoyed it as well. For dessert, we sampled the churros. They were fresh and had a nice texture, making for a solid finish to the meal. One of the highlights was the fresh-squeezed juice. We tried the mango, and it was outstanding. You can definitely taste the difference when it's made fresh. My only observation is that the bottles are a little small, so it's easy to finish one quickly. That said, the staff was accommodating and even provided a couple of cups so we could enjoy fountain drinks as well. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly, patient, and eager to help. There was a small mistake with our order, but it was corrected immediately without any issues. That's often a better indicator of customer service than getting everything perfect the first time. Special recognition goes to Hector Ramos at the register. He was professional, courteous, and made a great first impression on behalf of the restaurant. The only minor challenge was an occasional language barrier, but it never impacted the friendliness of the staff or our overall experience. Everyone remained kind, respectful, and committed to helping us. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area has umbrellas and a nice atmosphere, although it was a little warm during our visit. The indoor dining area was comfortable and inviting. One thing to keep in mind is that much of the food appears to be prepared fresh to order. Because of that--and the volume of takeout orders--it may take a few extra minutes compared to a typical fast-casual restaurant. In my opinion, the wait is worth it. A little patience goes a long way when the food is being made fresh. For a first visit, this was an easy five-star experience. Good food, friendly service, fresh ingredients, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back, and I'll be interested to see if future visits are as strong as the first. Yelp Elite Reviewer

I HAD TO GO TRY IT! Upon entering I was immediately greeted and given a moment to review the menu on the wall. The cashier was super friendly and helpful and answered all the questions I had. I decided to go with a small order of chips and queso and the shrimp fajita avocado salad. I was given my chips and salsa and given a buzzer which would identify me when my salad was ready. In the meantime I visited the salsa and accompaniment bar where there were tons of fresh salsa and veggie options. The chips and queso were BOMB! My salad was ready in about 10 minutes and the cashier brought it to my table which was super nice. That salad seriously looked and tasted like something that should and would be in a fine dining Mexican restaurant ... the shrimp were plentiful and plump and tasted as though they were truly seared on a fajita flat top along with the peppers and onions. It came along w a side of ranch and for this ranch lover to not have even used the ranch tells you just how flavorful this salad was! Everyone dining in the restaurant was so so so into their meals that I had to giggle because I was too and we all had not one care in the world. For many of my friends, when we visit this area, Crooked Run is now a destination because of the tacos (as well as the beer). I do find them delicious and nicely spiced. For me, their price is slightly below average among places I visit, so I find them to be a good deal, especially since they come in slightly larger tortillas - and double layered at that. Their lamb tacos - now 2 styles - are incredibly popular among my group, but I've never had a bad taco there. But the tacos are very messy. Perhaps they have a little too much - even double layered, some of the tacos fall apart as I eat them. Also their method of delivery is a little inconsistent. Two of us ordered two tacos each at the same time. One got his on a tray, I got mine in a little cardboard holder. Maybe they have a limited number of trays? No matter, it's not how they're presented, it's how they taste. And for that, I say "Si Senor!"
