Our dough is ready to press

We had such a tasty and enjoyable lunch at La Prensa last month that we were really excited to find out they offered cooking classes.  This afternoon we went back and learned how to make our own corn tortillas.  We were then able to choose whatever delicious filling we would like for two tacos plus, we also learned to make tostadas.  Chef turned these into another amazing dish for us to enjoy.  After that, we were taught how to make two super salsas.  This was in addition to the salsa and guacamole and warm house made chips which greeted us when we arrived.  Plus, a cocktail of our choice.  It was such fun and a great meal!  We are truly looking forward to returning for another one of their classes or tequila/mezcal tastings.

Vamos à la Playa

If you're looking for a place where the margaritas are strong, the food is unforgettable, and the staff can handle a table of rowdy adults + loud kids without blinking... this is it. First off -- the spicy margaritas. Absolutely elite. The perfect balance of heat and citrus. Dangerous in the best way. I would go back for those alone. Now let's talk about Anna. She was an absolute rockstar. Drinks never hit empty, she kept the energy light, handled our chaos with grace, and made killer recommendations. She convinced me to order the "Vamos à la Playa" -- a carved-out pineapple stuffed with al pastor and served with 10 corn tortillas. Ten. Corn. Tortillas. Challenge accepted. I ate the entire thing. Every bite. No leftovers. Anna seemed impressed. I felt like I had just completed a televised food competition. Zero regrets. The al pastor was flavorful, juicy, and perfectly balanced with the sweetness of the pineapple. Honestly one of the most fun and delicious presentations I've had in a long time. If you want great drinks, creative food, and service that makes you feel like the MVP of taco night -- this is your spot. Ask for Anna. And maybe stretch before ordering the pineapple.

We were there for lunch. This is really a Tapas place for Vegetarians. We ordered an appetizer and a few Tapas Vegetarian dishes to share. The dessert was good and substantial for two people to share. Good food, great ambiance. Will be back again.

First off the service here is absolutely stellar. From the owner, chef, to waitstaff you are meant to feel welcome and helped pretty much immediately. I can see how well the staff treat each other and it makes the restaurant feel super welcoming. The food is also very good! I loved the textures and flavors in the élote. Although a little sweet the Korean bulgoli taco and horchata were good options. I think it enjoyed the potatoes gratas the most!

We're in the area for a soccer tournament as is my cousin and her daughter. They went to La Prensa two nights ago and recommended it to us so after a hot day out on the fields we took them up on their recommendation and, boy, are we glad we did! We started off with the chips, guacamole and salsa which was a great way to kick off the feast. The salsa had the right tough of spice and the guacamole was next level good! It was Happy Hour which featured some really nice options that were too good for me to resist. I ordered a pulled pork empanada and then the pork al pastor taco and a carnitas taco, both without onions. The empanada was one of the better ones that I have had and the salsa served with it paired perfectly. The al pastor taco was my favorite of the two with a nice heat profile present cooled off by the pineapple chunks in the taco. Excellent stuff! My wife went for the al pastor rice bowl which was an expertly crafted and looked almost too good to eat. We both don't drink alcohol but not to worry because the mocktail list is plentiful and the two that we selected were perfect and balanced the meal out nicely. Highly recommend checking out this spot! You won't be disappointed!

It was my first time at La Prenza, a short meeting with a friend for a cocktail and some tacos . Very polite and attentive staff, tasty cocktails and small appetizers. The menu is not very versatile, but they have small brunch menu, some options for vegetarians and kids menu. This place offers catering for parties and also organize cooking classes and cocktails making classes ( what might be a fun option for teambuilding or party with friends or family) I will definitely come back to try more from their menu as today I had no enough time

I got the chips and queso ($12), chorizo, birria, and carne tacos ($5ea). The chips were very thin fried chips that were crispy but very fragile due to the size. The queso was a combination of birria, chorizo , and cheese. Very unique and different but I wasn't blown away by it. The tacos were decent flavors wise, they felt light and not over seasoned. The carne was small but still a bit chewy. The chorizo was ok. And the birria was very tender I just wished it had a side of consommé. Staff was very nice. Overall this is indeed a tapas style taco place so it will feel smaller. I wasn't quite blown away, but still a decent experience. Note that there is a 3% credit card fee. Celebrated a friends birthday with a cooking class with chef Thomas, so fun and delicious. We made homemade tortillas and fresh salsa, highly recommend. Everything was so fresh and yummy.

Ambiance: No changes since my last visit. Same warm interiors and ample common parking. Service was quick, we went on a Saturday evening. Food: We ordered our usual loaded nachos, which I highly recommend, the taste is always consistent and the flavors are amazing. We also got the butternut squash, I would say is perfect for the winter, yummy!!. We ordered Harissa chicken taco, Harissa Cauliflower taco, mushroom taco and Aloo vindalloo taco. Sadly all the tacos were a bit underwhelming this time. Aloo vindaloo taco description said crispy potato, what I received was a curry of aloo vindaloo. Harissa sauce also was off. We finished dinner with Guava cheesecake which was made to perfection!! Again would highly recommend it.

Two shrimp and one Korean bulgogi taco.

La Prensa is my favorite local restaurant. Located near the Dulles Town Center. It is warm and welcoming and bright. A full line of delicious cocktails are offered at the bar or at your table. But the best part is the food! Our favorites are the tacos. They are exceptional both in flavor and originality. The shrimp tacos are the biggest hit for me. The menu is extensive. And they have outdoor seating in the good weather. Don't miss this place!

We initially decided to stop in after seeing some of the food my coworkers had ordered. While I wasn't able to identify exactly what they had from the menu, everything coming out of the kitchen looked fresh and appealing, which convinced us to give it a try. The smash burgers were excellent--cooked well, flavorful, and made to order. We also tried the lamb taco, which was very good and offered something a little different from the usual menu options. My daughters ordered the calamari and enjoyed it as well. For dessert, we sampled the churros. They were fresh and had a nice texture, making for a solid finish to the meal. One of the highlights was the fresh-squeezed juice. We tried the mango, and it was outstanding. You can definitely taste the difference when it's made fresh. My only observation is that the bottles are a little small, so it's easy to finish one quickly. That said, the staff was accommodating and even provided a couple of cups so we could enjoy fountain drinks as well. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly, patient, and eager to help. There was a small mistake with our order, but it was corrected immediately without any issues. That's often a better indicator of customer service than getting everything perfect the first time. Special recognition goes to Hector Ramos at the register. He was professional, courteous, and made a great first impression on behalf of the restaurant. The only minor challenge was an occasional language barrier, but it never impacted the friendliness of the staff or our overall experience. Everyone remained kind, respectful, and committed to helping us. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area has umbrellas and a nice atmosphere, although it was a little warm during our visit. The indoor dining area was comfortable and inviting. One thing to keep in mind is that much of the food appears to be prepared fresh to order. Because of that--and the volume of takeout orders--it may take a few extra minutes compared to a typical fast-casual restaurant. In my opinion, the wait is worth it. A little patience goes a long way when the food is being made fresh. For a first visit, this was an easy five-star experience. Good food, friendly service, fresh ingredients, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back, and I'll be interested to see if future visits are as strong as the first. Yelp Elite Reviewer

I have heard a lot of good things about Taco Bamba and decided to try it because it is closer to my…read morehouse than my usual/favorite taco spot, Bandit Taco in Leesburg. We went to the restaurant around 5:30 today and there was a decent crowd in there, so I was growing confident that we would have a good experience. Unfortunately, we did not. We ordered about 8 items, a combo of tacos, nachos and other items. The person who took our order was awesome, super friendly and enthusiastic, so we were off to a great start. We got our order number and waited about 10 minutes until they called our number. When I walked up to the pick up counter, the young man verified my number and handed me a single taco, then just stared at me as I looked (and felt) confused. I told him there are about 7 more items on my order and again, he just looked at me. I stood there awkwardly for about 5 full minutes while they called other numbers. Finally, I went back to my table and my wife took the receipt and went to the counter. 10 minutes later, she came back with the rest of the order. We had trouble figuring out which food belonged to each person, so we took some guesses and dug in. The initial taco that we ordered was now cold, but I ate it anyway and it turned out to be the best one, it was a carnitas taco. The others were a total letdown. The Pollo El Carbon was totally dry, the fish taco was so wet that when I picked it up, the tortillas were soggy and the bottom fell out, and it had no taste at all. The nachos, we ordered them with ground beef, came with chunks of beef that was also dry and not tasty, so nobody ate that at all. I saw that this place had won "Best Taco" in Northern VA Magazine, and frankly, I suspect they had a lot of friends voting for them because this isn't even the best taco in Sterling, much less NOVA. I will happily go back to Taco Bandit and actually enjoy my food. I did like the medium and verde sauces, and the hot sauce was good too, so Taco Bamba has done a good job there.

For many of my friends, when we visit this area, Crooked Run is now a destination because of the tacos (as well as the beer). I do find them delicious and nicely spiced. For me, their price is slightly below average among places I visit, so I find them to be a good deal, especially since they come in slightly larger tortillas - and double layered at that. Their lamb tacos - now 2 styles - are incredibly popular among my group, but I've never had a bad taco there. But the tacos are very messy. Perhaps they have a little too much - even double layered, some of the tacos fall apart as I eat them. Also their method of delivery is a little inconsistent. Two of us ordered two tacos each at the same time. One got his on a tray, I got mine in a little cardboard holder. Maybe they have a limited number of trays? No matter, it's not how they're presented, it's how they taste. And for that, I say "Si Senor!"

I waited in line to place my order and it took a bit for one family to order but after a few minutes I was in front. Their menu didn't explicitly seem to have the birria tacos listed but I had seen that they were available every Tuesday on their website and they had an article printed about the birria tacos so I asked. The cashier let me know they serve birria tacos everyday! So I placed my order for two tacos and a tres leches. I grabbed water and sat down, expecting that they'd call out my name, but they actually serve your meals directly to you which was very nice! Someone also came around to bring the hot sauce rack to my table which was very nice, as I was interested in trying these. Everything was delicious. I loved the birria tacos, and the spicy hot sauce added a nice touch without being overwhelmingly spicy. The tres leches cake was brought to me at the end of my meal, and it was sweet and moist! There was an 85 cent uncharge for shrimp and shrimp tacos are one of my favorites (al pastor being another in my top 100). It had zero redness and tasted like ground beef dusted chorizo spice (I think the Spice Girls kicked her out early, BTW). The chicken taco was decent and what you'd expect. For &17 for 3 tacos and can of Coke Zero, I was disappointed. I should have just gone to Sheetz for their 6 tacos for $6 instead. IYKYK! ;)
