Our go to place for Mexican food. The staff are always friendly and remember the repeat customers. The margarita was delicious! Shrimp quesadillas was good. Should've ordered a tostada with it - didn't want a plate w rice and beans. Also love the dish w beef tips ? Burrito. Great flavor. read more

Food was just ok. Our waitress was not good at all, very rude. We had to request silverware 3 times, had to ask multiple times for the guacamole we ordered when we arrived. One order came incomplete even after reminding her and she never asked if we wanted steak or chicken and when it came out with steak, had to show her the menu and she said "you should have said..." Someone else brought the correct meat yet still not complete. She was not attentive to us after that. Waited a long time before she came with the check!. I never been so disappointed I went to the restaurant today and we waited for over 1 hour 1/2 for our meal to be served. I had to ask multiple times to fill our drinks. This is a party of five. Basically we filled up on chips and salsa and cheese. The waiter only came by twice The chicken was burnt and dry out. I ordered a chimichanga.. I was never so disappointed.. What was shocking they added the tip to the receipt without telling you. This was 18 percent. Normally a restaurant does not add gratuity tip unless it is party of 6 or more. Then I tried calling the restaurant and a voice-mail comes immediately was totally unprofessional . Apparently they don't want to hear the complaints of service. This place is just okay. The chips are homemade- fresh, crispy and thin. The salsa is thin with pretty good flavor. Skip the watery queso. The look of the Guacamole can be deceiving. Visiting AL from California and was craving good mexican food. I didn't have high expectations but man was I disappointed. The chips were actually very yummy but the salsa was bland, dont be shy on adding more spiciness! I got the Chile Relleno and it was bad. Just stuffed ground beef and cheese in a pepper that you could barely find/taste under the 5000lbs of meat in it. I took about 3-4 bites and couldn't eat it anymore. This place is a joke of a flop house restaurant. First scam is that they up charge you for using a debit/credit card which is an unethical business practice and a violation of MC/VISA banking agreements/contracts. The last two trips at lunch they have found a way to over charge for my order as well. This latest lunch daytime nightmare I was holding the lunch menu when the grumpy waiter asked for my order. I promptly replied "Chicken Fajitas", no rice, no beans, and no tortillas. Add a sliced avocado. Going for the low carb. Grumpy waiter asked, "you want the lettuce?" I said yes. Oh and also had water with lemon. So meals over and get the ticket. $16.50! Yeah. For lunch. So dude charges me dinner price and turns out that with the lettuce, which he suggested, came guacamole and is an extra cost. I didn't order guacamole. I ordered the lunch chicken fajitas for $7.50, a side of avocado for $3.50, and water. Total should have been $11.00 plus tax and tip. A great traditional Mexican place, worth stopping for . You walk in and you're hit with this warm and homey kind of ambiance. You sit down and you're handed some of the best chips and salsa you'll ever eat. You get salsa, but ordering the cheese dip is one of the best things there. The servers are always fast and efficient, not to mention how friendly and happy they seem to serve you. This place is EXCELLENT! That is all! Ohh yeah, I'm writing a review. I guess I'll get a little more specific. El Rio Grande is my new go to place when I come to the Troop County / West Point sections of Georgia. I have yet to find a good Mexican restaurant in Georgia period, so I'll take that short trip to Alabama to come here. I ordered the chicken chimichanga and a cheese quesadilla. With that, this became my second favorite Mexican restaurant on the East Coast (El Rodeo in Norfolk, VA is still my all time favorite). The wait staff was very professional and suggested some excellent dishes that the rest of the family tried. This will be the hot spot each and everytime we return to visit family! read more

My colleagues and I use to go this place every Saturday for lunch. The food is good, the sweet tea is great, and the AC is always working. So why did I score it so low? Because the service is really slow. There is a particular young girl that has ended up as our server the last 4 times. She has no people skills, rarely visits our table, and is just generally slow. The owner of this place opened up a Rio Grande near me and the food was AMAZING. Very inexpensive AND generous portions of delicious authentic food. They even had a Sunday buffet that included the best Pico , The Best Guacamole, great fajitas and tacos, and salad for less than $7.00 per person. Unfortunately the one near me closed - but if you have an opportunity to eat at El Rio Grande in Bama - go for it You will not be disappointed. We are here yesterday. The service was not great the server basically did enough to get by. The food was average Mexican but okay. We ordered the rio fajitas for two and the portion size was for one and had mainly red bell peepers and onions. I am giving this place a 3 star rating because the service and food portion sizes were not up to par. We spent about 30.00 for three people. My family ate at el Rio on Friday, March 23rd, 2018. The service was terrible, our waitress barely even spoke to us, NEVER smiled, failed to keep our glasses refilled, and it took a good 45 minutes to get our food. The food was the worst Mexican food I have ever had. When I spoke to the owner to ask when our food would be coming out he said there was large party on the other side of the restaurant. When I brought to his attention that two other families on our side of the restaurant who came in after us had already received their food, he said "well we've been busy and I guess we got a little confused, but your food is ready. I know it is because I cooked it myself", yet it was nowhere to be found and was lukewarm when it was brought out. We will not be going back to El Rio! read more

This is the absolute worst restaurant I have ever ate at. The ground beef taste like dish water, their salsas come from a can. My boyfriend ordered a tamale and it was at least 4 days old, the meat inside had taken on the shape of the tamale which was disturbing. Absolutely do NOT eat here! I came here with two friends and we waited for our food for over an hour and a half. The food was pretty good, but way overpriced. We received our receipts and tried to explain to the host that we were all charged more than the price advertised on the menu. His immediate response was that we have to each tip a minimum of 18%. We tried to explain that we had been here for two hours and that we didn't feel that 18% was a good tip amount, and the host preceded to call my friend an idiot and tell him that he was the rudest customer he's ever had. He then told my friend that he would steal his $100 bill. I have never witnessed an employee so rude before; no one under any circumstances should ever be that rude to a customer! read more
