Stopped in for a late lunch with some family members. Everything was delicious and quickly served. I had the Philly Cheese sandwich switching cheddar for provolone as the cashier suggested. The place is decorated with several items from the old West Point Pepperell mills which shows some of the area history. Will definitely be back!! read more

Pokey's 8th Avenue Grill offers basic food such as burgers, tacos, cheesesteaks, catfish, etc., but they do it well and service is extremely personable and friendly. The exterior is nothing much, but the interior is better, very spacious and possessing high ceilings. I ordered a cheeseburger with pimento cheese, their hand cut fries along with jalapeno ranch and a drink. The total was under $10.00 and before long I had my food before me. The burgers come well done and my pimento cheeseburger was pretty good. I would come back here again and recommend to anyone in the area and seeking a decent lunch to try here. read more

At this price point, a true gem. I dare you to find a fresher, cleaner, friendlier lunch spot...ANYWHERE. They can be busy, but it feels like you still have space because the dining room is HUGE with tall ceilings. Now, let's talk about the food. Fresh, nice simple presentation, and great portions. Club sandwich is great as are the big salads. The fresh cut fries are as good as 5 guys...and have less salt! The owner kept checking on us to hype the place up. Had lunch today at Pokey's today. Ended up being a disappointing experience. I ordered the 2 piece fish filets platter for $11 plus and got two stripes of fish that looked like one small filet cut in half to make 2. I went to the counter to ask if it was a mistake and was told that's what it should look like. I basically paid for a platter full of fries. Not worth the money. read more

Passing through on our way to Athens Georgia for a coaches clinic we stopped at this little dinner in a very nice small town. I will say that the burgers here are pretty darn great!! Cooked to order and delicious. I will say ya'll sweet tea is pretty good as well, I did not have to put much sweetener into it, so you know it was not that bad at all. If you order cheese fries it will most likely be in queso sauce. I asked for the cheddar cheese variety and unfortunately they did not have a microwave to melt the cheese. This is my favorite restaurant in West Point! I must confess that I am so crazy about their catfish tacos that I have hardly tried anything else. Wow! What a pleasant surprise! On our way from Sharpsburg to Pensacola, we made a stop in the quaint town of West Point and discovered Pokey's. Had the catfish tacos and Philly cheesesteak, both were fabulous and strongly recommend. Very friendly and courteous staff.
