El Tacoriendo - Columbus, OH…read more The building looks like the kind of spot you'd second-guess after dark--like pulling up to a Linden carryout when the streetlights flicker--but trust me, If you judge a taco by the tortilla (and honestly, you should), this place is worth checking out. I tried four different tacos, all excellent: * Asada - Tender and smoky, almost buttery in a warm corn tortilla that stayed together the whole time. * Suadero - Melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a gentle richness that made it feel almost luxurious compared to the usual grilled beef. Not greasy, just satisfying. * Cecina - Salty and deeply savory, the kind of flavor you keep thinking about later. * Barbacoa - Soft and shredded, perfect for soaking up lime juice. Each taco was loaded with fresh cilantro, chopped onions, grilled onions, and cucumber slices. Pricing & Portions * Tacos run about $3.50 each. * Even after skipping lunch, two were plenty to fill me up. * Extra salsas are $0.50 each, and worth it. Salsas * Green salsa: Mild, fresh, and bright. * Red salsa: A little kick without being too spicy. * Both were great together, but the meat was seasoned well enough to eat plain. Atmosphere & Service * Bright painted chairs and colorful walls give it a casual, welcoming feel. * The dining room has plenty of space between tables and a laid-back vibe. * My takeout order was packed neatly in sturdy containers and ready in about 10 minutes. * Staff were friendly and patient when I had questions about the menu. ‍ Final Take If you're tired of tacos that taste mass-produced, this spot will feel like a small revelation. After a 4/4 win, I'm already planning to come back to try some of their more unique proteins (like lengua, buche, or tripe). Consider this your sign to give them a shot. 5/5 - Come hungry, leave happy, and maybe start debating what to order next before you even get back to your car.

Not much seating inside but they are never busy. We didn't get the customer oriented vibe when we came. The women behind the counter/checkout didn't seem to pay much mind to the customers only when you ordered. Not once was we checked on. Regardless I would order takeout and come back to try another dish! Definitely a legit example of a hole in the wall. But good food!

There's this thing about magic and the curse of midnight where everything breaks back into reality…read more In this case, Taco Bell was calling 11pm close enough. Full disclosure, this is my first ever late night food run, as usually I'm well asleep by then. And if I do wake up at home, my standards are low enough that I've eaten tortillas straight from the bag on my way back from relieving myself. At least this time I thought there'd be potatoes in my tortilla. We pulled up to a glitching menu and a robot asking if we had a mobile order. It switched to a human when we said we did not, and we should have been more ready considering the screen was hard to read. Thankfully there was nobody in line and the girl assured us they do have potato bowls. I got one with a potato bowl (needed a vegetarian option and didn't want to subject my bestie to fast food bean farts from my top bunk). He ordered a chicken crispy taco, the whole reason we had agreed on fast food instead of rest stop snacks. There's a single window for payment and pickup which takes a few minutes. I verified that I saw three wrappers and we drove off. I assumed that there would be a fork. And napkins. And the 6 packets of mild sauce that was right on the receipt, that they had brought up without us prompting, that they had left out of the bag. I made a lot of wrong assumptions. Don't offer what you can't deliver. Or should I say deliver well, as my food was, uh, edible, but made me decide that I'm not cut out for late night quality fast food after all. The potato in both dishes mushed in your mouth like old french fries instead of being remotely crispy. The sauce on my taco had a tasty kick. Luckily I can replicate with their grocery line so that I don't have to go back for shredduce and unmelted cheese shreds. (Unlike lettuce, I don't have a cool term for that.) The bowl had a large glop of sour cream on top and a sheet of American style cheese sticks on enough that I could eat relatively mess free with my fingers because I was not driving the five minutes back to demand a fork. It's quick and easy and cheap, all small compliments to the biggest complaint, that it is cheaply made. My bestie found his taco broken/breaking before even taking a bite. He said he could never order it again, which originally I thought meant he was under-wowed like me. As it turned out, he said he would order like five and just annihilate them all. The chicken was different from their usual fare. Not enough to merit returning for. If you're too tired and running on an adrenaline high it'll do. If you have standards, keep on driving.

I spend about $20 if I get a drink, two tacos, a tostada & chips + guacamole. Tacos are delicious & it's one of the few places you can get a tostada that is crunchy and flavorful. Service is really good I've also had the horchata and cucumber agua fresca, would recommend them both. My go-to is guacamole+chips, beef or chicken street style tacos and or the chicken tostada. They also have good queso and rice and beans. I have not had a bad thing honestly.

I order the birria soup, and it was good, I have no complains, but the burrito had a major downgrade, it lacked everything, it was big but flavor wise was so dull, same with the flautas not good at all. We order a taco at the end just to try to say we had an excuse to drive 30 minutes to eat here but it was just ok. The ambiance is about the same, small little family Mexican spot and you fell welcome. The tres leches was the best part of our meal so freaking good, and I don't even care about sweets.

It's just a bit far out of my way to get here often. Today I met Mike G. for Taco Tuesday, and it is a deal: $1.50 for ground beef or shredded chicken tacos, hard or soft tortillas, Mexican or American style toppings. I got three, two beef and one chicken, and was stuffed- without even eating many chips beforehand. Neither meat was heavily seasoned, but there are assorted sauces to add, or you can dip them in the standard salsa. My total bill, with a pop, was just under $9. $9! For a filling, semi-healthy lunch. The tacos are big, or what used to be standard sized, anyway, not the smaller street tacos you sometimes get. Amazing? Nah. But pretty good, and a heckuva deal. Service was great. Service and food have been very good on previous visits too, and I have no complaints. The usual huge menu of Mexican standards (which I forgot to take a picture of.) Plenty of parking, easy access, bright and lively inside.
