Food was absolutely delicious as well as the margarita! The business does look a little shady when approaching but I think it's because of the attached drive thru and constant traffic, but we still gave it a shot! Not much seating inside but they are never busy. We didn't get the customer oriented vibe when we came. The women behind the counter/checkout didn't seem to pay much mind to the customers only when you ordered. Not once was we checked on. Just happened to pick this place. Small and hardly noticable from the street, what a find! Good service/Almost too big a menu to cloose from. Between us, I had carnitas tostadas, hubster got the torta Cubano. Both very good portion size, fil ll ed w/ goodies, and flavorful with their green and red sauces. This place is much more charming on the inside. The small restaurant has seating and is attached to a drive through and looks sketchy, but the food is tasty and there are a lot of menu options. I mostly come for the soup. I don't know anyone else who offers soup with street tacos. So flavorful! It's only served weekends. Got a groupon because of all the great reviews I was reading. Of course the GPS took us the long way there. Yes you can definitely drive right past it if you don't slow down, or look to the right for 2 seconds. I got the Alhambra Mixto Fajita and my man got 3 Carne Asada tacos. Now we are waiting for the grub, so will have pictures in a few. My meal was very large and I had leftovers for days. Not my man he ate all of his and some of mine....and I still had leftovers. We have been back several times, with and without a Groupon. They have some of the best authentic Mexican in Columbus. Several people may not agree with me, but you know it is good when it is full of Mexicans eating grub. We will definitely be back, hopefully soon. I came here with a Groupon, and the first thing I noticed was a sign on the door saying they don't accept the Groupons on Wednesdays, so just a word of warning there. Not sure what happens on Wednesdays that makes them too popular, but I wish I lived close enough to find out. The food was good, but the service was a little slow. The prices for food were very reasonable for what you got. I had a lime margarita on the rocks which was worth the $5 happy hour price, but I question whether it is up to par for the normal $7 price. Then again, I am a bit picky about my drinks. I'd probably get a beer if I came again, and there was a decent selection of Mexican imports. I tried one of the cheese enchilada lunch specials and was pleased that the cheese seemed to be real. All too often Mexican restaurants use a super melty processed cheese that only tastes good because it is so salty. This has a fresh, clean taste. My partner got the chicken chilaquiles, which were very tasty and perhaps even better than what I chose. Okay so don't let the outside fool you. The actual restaurant is attached to a drive through. And while the building is less than desirable, they fully make up for it. Food is authentic Mexican. We were pleasantly surprised. Prices are very reasonable and portions are really good. We came on a Friday after work and they actually have Happy Hour Margaritas for $5 and they were pretty good, made with 1800. They were doing a lot of takeout and by the time we left, it was obvious that this place had a faithful following. We will definitely be back. We located an empty one in the back corner and headed toward. A young lady (perhaps college age) brought us menus. She was polite - in a good mood considering it was a small blizzard outside. Answered all of our questions about the different dishes. We got chips and guac to start. After much self agony, I picked a pork and chorizo burrito and a Tortas Cubana. I can say with confidence that the Guac here is quite possibly the best I've ever had! Not salty. Not doused with onion or garlic. Super smooth texture. Perfect sized chucks of avocado. My mouth is craving another size of it, just talking about it! And for $3.50? So worth it! Eeny Meeny Miny Mo determined the Burrito as the starter. Interesting: The seasoned pork was crumbles; I was expecting pulled, but this was great, nonetheless. perhaps a bit less seasoning next time, but nothing to complain about. It's attached to a scary drive through liquor store. We sat on the car for a few minutes before deciding to go in and I'm glad we did! We walked in and had a seat, it was a little confusing because we didn't know whether to sit or order at the counter but we decided to just sit. They brought around a little bowl of soup with pasta in it that was yummy, but definitely a departure from the normal chips and salsa. I had seen sopes on menus before but never knew what they were, but this place had a photo of them and they liked amazing so I decided to go for it. And ordered 3 with chicken. Sopes are a thick corn patty or tortilla with the ends pinched up to keep the toppings inside. I was thrilled with them. The chicken was spiced and not plain. DLW and I stopped here for Saturday lunch on our way through town. This really is a hole in the wall spot, with about 30 seats obviously scavenged from another restaurant in a rather run-down building isolated from most of the rest of town. They play Mexican pop music very loudly. There was a TV, but it was off. This is no corporate owned chain, that's for sure. They seem to do most of their business as takeout. Plenty of people came and went from the counter as we sat at our booth, and a lot of them spoke Spanish, a good sign that the food is good. If you dine in, they will serve you tableside and give you proper menus instead of making you order from the posted menu. The menu is no frills, but pretty large and authentic. We ordered a michelada and a mango agua fresca, both very delicious, but I especially loved the mangoey goodness of the agua fresca. We both had tortas, cubana for me and pierna enchilada for DLW. Both were huge and loaded with goodies. Mine had carnitas, chorizo, fried egg, ham, pork pastor and cheese along with lettuce and tomato. Hers was pork leg, chipotle sauce and cheese. They were quite the bargain at $9 each. You can get breakfast anytime, as well as chilaquiles. On weekends they have pozole and menudo. If this place weren't on its own island, we would hit it every time we were in Columbus. read more

A friend told me about this place. I went there today, the service was really good. The staff was friendly and mostly attentive. I had questions about the menu and the young lady patiently answered my questions. I had a steak sopa & a tripe burrito. Both were ok, but not great. The main reason is because even though the meat was tender it wasn't seasoned. I used the mild sauce to place on it, but it would've been better if it was seasoned. This place is right up the street from my house so I thought I'd give it a try. I was craving pozole and it's freezing outside so there's nothing better than comfort food. Service was great, I got a to go order and food came out quick. The meat in my asada tacos was tender and flavorful, salsa was great. Pozole was fresh and a giant portion For price 100/10, tender meat and flavorful broth. Give this place a try, parking is limited so be prepared to get creative with parking. Okay.. let's start with the obvious (which you probably read on every other Yelp review..), this place looks like a dump from the outside, some old drivethru, and is in a part of town where you may likely get stabbed after dark, but other than that -- what's preventing you from checking this place out?! Every taco I tried was muy delicioso -- asada, pollo, chorizo, y barbacoa. Table next to me got an order of fajitas, I was a lil jelly.. the smell of the sizzle was amazing! Took me a minute to figure out where the entrance and location was. But once I walked up to the side of the drive through liquor market, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked through the door. I felt like I was back home, in southern California, walking into one of my favorite hole in the wall joints. Carnitas burrito was on point. Full of flavor and NO cheap fillers. I love a good hole in the wall, and El Tacoriendo epitomizes everything awesome about one. In a neighborhood Apple maps only describes as "Southeast Columbus," El Tacoriendo is in a small, unassuming building. Honestly, I was a little bit worried when we first arrived, but once inside, it was a bright and colorful little restaurant. We were quickly greeted and told we could sit anywhere we wanted. Our server came right over to our table and was super friendly and helpful. All three of us decided on a margarita on the rocks - $5 and deliciously strong. For food, I ordered carnitas with beans and rice. These were some of the best carnitas I've had in town! Everybody in my group thought the food was good, and we ate every bit. It was so good that we decided to have flan for dessert... which was also delicious. Sometimes flan can taste a bit eggy, but not here! Over the course of several years, I have eaten at no less than 30 different Mexican Food Trucks across the Columbus area. It was a particular interest I had. I've traveled to Mexico 7 times. My best friend is from Vera Cruz. The Carne Asada Quesadilla, with a small dab of the "red sauce", a squeeze of lime and a couple caramelized onions--might be my favorite thing I have ever eaten in Columbus, ever. The cheese, wonderful gooey, salty...oh my god. I buy two of them every single time. For me, this is the standard by which I judge all other Food Trucks in town: "well it's not as good as the Carne Asada Quesadilla at Tacorriendo"-etc. The truck is stationary. Never moves. It looks unimpressive. Old, blue, small. There is a building adjoining the truck where patrons can go inside and sit at the tables and eat. The truck is always busy, especially during the lunch hour- where those in the know come to get lunch. A good indication of the quality of the food is the regular amount of actual Mexicans are there eating- which is a lot. And that's a good thing. Very friendly and warm people.
