Shocked that I haven't already reviewed this; maybe I reviewed a previous incarnation here because I have been here several times over the years, and enjoyed it each time. It's just a bit far out of my way to get here often. Today I met Mike G. for Taco Tuesday, and it is a deal: $1.50 for ground beef or shredded chicken tacos, hard or soft tortillas, Mexican or American style toppings. I got three, two beef and one chicken, and was stuffed- without even eating many chips beforehand. Neither meat was heavily seasoned, but there are assorted sauces to add, or you can dip them in the standard salsa. My total bill, with a pop, was just under $9. $9! For a filling, semi-healthy lunch. The tacos are big, or what used to be standard sized, anyway, not the smaller street tacos you sometimes get. Amazing? Nah. But pretty good, and a heckuva deal. Service was great. Service and food have been very good on previous visits too, and I have no complaints. The usual huge menu of Mexican standards (which I forgot to take a picture of.) Went to this place for the first time on a date and I ordered a taco bowl everything but guac and when they brought my food out it had guac on it so they wanted to make another one to have me waiting longer so instead I took the guac off myself and asked for a discount since they messed up my order and the mngr told me NO mind u it was my first time there so yea I wont be back cause that was rude and inconsiderate when ur pose to satisfy ur customers be kind and courteous to them but nope not to me didnt happen so I paid and left. The chicken soup in this place is amazing, and the chicken with pineapple supreme. The service is very friendly and close to home.

The restaurant consistently offers good food, service, and drinks. I appreciate a stable environment with employees who genuinely care and provide prompt service. Whether you sit at the bar or at a table, the service is excellent and the food is satisfying. I have visited this restaurant at least ten times and have no complaints or bad experiences. I love those chairs and tables that depict "Mexican" life in brightly colored, carved relief. Don't you? Well, Los Mariachis has them. Lots of them. But you're not as interested in the physical decor as the food & service. I wouldn't be. (well, maybe not) I had the tacos al pastor. Don't bother to say it. I know it's a pretty safe order. But here's my thinking--if a Mexican restaurant can't do tacos al pastor well, what's the chances of it doing something more challenging well? Yep, you got it. Well, Los Mariachis knocked it out of the park. The grilled meat and onions were perfect, and they even threw in a few grilled pineapple chunks to add interest to the flavor cluster. I...loved...it. What I didn't love so much was the service. Granted, they were very busy. But 22 minutes to take our food order is way out of bounds. "Don't bother...you'll never find it." I'm hoping that the tardy service was an aberration, because the quality and taste of the food had set Los Mariachis up for a potential game-winning grand slam. Met up with a friend for lunch and by the first bite I regretted even going. I had the burrito with side of rice and beans... The burrito had no flavor at all like it was old ground beef that they heated up. The rice and beans were disgusting after a couple bites I wanted to go to the kitchen and see how the food was being prepared because it had no seasonings and the whole plate was hot like it's been microwaved.... I didn't even finish my meal. I also got a Horchata ( very chalky after taste) and a Raspberry Margarita the Margarita was basically a slushy because you couldn't taste the liquor at all then they have the nerves to use old bruised fruit to garnish the drink.... Would not recommend i never complain about a restaurant but when you sit at a table for 51 minutes and you don't even know who is supposed to be taking your order it's pretty sad. Then you have to ask random employees to chips and salsa then. You have to ask another employee for drinks and then you have to go the front desk to ask for a refill on your drink. I'll give them one more try and change my review if it's better the next time but till then this is the review I'm leaving. PS do better next time thank you. read more

First of all the food is delicious and fresh here every single time we visit which is once a week! The service is exceptional the restaurant is clean and the server's like their job! Smiles all around! We get the Casa Fundido with chorizo and fish tacos that are generous with tilapia and cheese and onions and lettuce. Delicious! We have never had a problem eating anything here because everything is so good and made fresh. We really enjoy making the trip from Downtown to South Columbus for this treat! The chips and salsa were very good. The tacos were mediocre....kind of bland overall. I had the al pastor tacos. The meat was rather dry. I love tacos and had high hopes but was ultimately disappointed. There were so many great taco places in Florida, my favorites being I Love Tacos and Tacos Locos in Pembroke Pines. The service was so so. Not really impressed and probably won't be back, but I may try again and order a different taco. read more

This is one of our favorite mexican restaurants to goto in springfield Ohio. Typically we order the same thing everytime. Really not sure of what happened last night there. The service was very slow. It took forever for anyone to take our order. People who came in after us was already eating and we are still waiting to give a drink order. Finally we put in our drink order and also our dinner order. Drink order comes out. Ordered a Large got a small, wife ordered a coke and gets a diet. The white cheese for dipping came out. It was cold, typically served hot. Sent that back, got the drink orders fixed and the cheese back hot. Then the food comes out. Order hard shell taco and got soft. I don't think the person who took our order knew english all that well. He seemed to be lost the whole night. After all the food was finally right. It was decent quality. Once we got over the gliches. Everything was good until we got the bill and was charged for 2 cokes and we only had 1. That to got fixed at the end. But there was a night full of mistakes. And if you think bathrooms in Mexican restaurants are bad, they're even worse in Mexico. Next, I sat at the bar. It took a while for someone to get to me. The chips and salsa? Salsa was kinda runny and not too hot. I ordered shrimp topped with their melted white cheese. The beans were good. Rice was dry. Yeah, I'm not sure if I would be back. Literally the most disgusting guacamole I've ever tasted, and I've tasted guacamole out of a tube that a friend bought me just to gross me out six months ago. $3.25 for some crap made out of a powder, squirted out of a tube, or scooped out of some disgusting can. The salsa was the same story. Bland, lacking flavor and poured straight out of a 5 lb container in all likelihood. We were able to spruce it up a little bit with the Cholula sauce on the table. The chips weren't much better. They at least tasted good, but they were thick like store bought chips. My guess would be they're bought bagged, then dumped into a heating bin and kept warm for serving. (Most places actually by them uncooked and deep fry them themselves.) So basically, anything they can make instant or cheaply here, they do. I'd be frightened to try the shrimp or scallops. But nonetheless, my entree was good. Lots of veggies, burrito was humongous, and the blanco cheese was on point. The price was okay at around $9. Be that as it may, I will not be coming back. I have been eating here for years with my husband. It is a nice little gem on the south end of Columbus that has a great, friendly staff, a great selection of food, and great margaritas. Neat place, very colorful, but it's just ok. Service was a little slow but they were pretty busy. We were greeted by their insanely large menu with sooooo many choices but the waitress gave us plenty of time to review the whole thing. (By the way, I noticed a bunch of typos and mistakes throughout the menu.) I got the taco salad in a baked tortilla bowl. It was good but I didn't care for the ground beef. I don't think there was any seasoning on it so it was very plain. The cheese was really good though. It took us a while to pay because you receive a receipt and must have it rung up at the front desk where there's a line. As a side note, the bathroom was clean but there weren't any towels or hand dryers to dry your hands. They just had a stack of paper dinner napkins sitting there that all fall apart. I would still recommend this place but I didn't find anything too special about it besides the amount of choices on the menu. read more

It's right around a 3.5 star place for me. We have been here a few times and the food is consistently decent. Nothing GREAT about it though. The service is always rather slow for being a Mexican restaurant, mostly because of the servers I believe, but that's ok. The chicken and pork remain tender which brings us back. 1 thing we don't enjoy are their margaritas though. From what I remember they are thick in consistency and have a strange sweet taste to them. I wouldn't recommend them personally. Mrs. Is pregnant right now which is why we have come here a bit more often now.
