This was a random moment: we were traveling from Augusta to Blue Ridge and selected a route through Gainesville. For whatever reason we decided we wanted to find a local seafood store with live lobster for dinner, and stumbled across a seafood store (that, by the way, turned out to be terrific--with the best (yes, the best)--fresh made ceviche we have ever had. And right there in front of the parking space was the Salvador bakery. Going in was almost an afterthought, but after watching so many folks coming and going we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed: incredibly welcoming and helpful, they spent time with Sandra explaining everything, making recommendations and even provided an extra "treat": a delicious tamale in the Salvador tradition. Not knowing what a pupusa is, we had several when back on the road, and thoroughly enjoyed them. The pastries looked delicious. This bakery was one of those incidental finds, made all the better by the quality of their offerings (cakes looked delicious), and the hospitality of their staff. Be prepared that that they are moving soon so check out their current location before your go. Sadly, that seafood market won't be next door in their new location. It was a "twofer" that made the visit all the more worthwhile. PS: until recently we owned a small home on the mid-eastern coast of Mexico. It was a quiet, welcoming community with wonderful memories of fresh vegetables and bakeries in a simple setting. We miss the food and we miss the people. This bakery brought those pleasant memories back to us once again. We are grateful to have found this bakery, and will certainly visit again on our regular travels to north Georgia, even if it means taking a modest detour. It is worth it. read more

Ordered a couple pupusa and an empanada. The Empanada was extremely small and the meat filling was predominantly potato. Garlic sauce was amazing. Pupusas were decent sized with a good quality cheese. Red salsa was awfully bland. Not likely to return. read more

Been eating at this restaurant for quite a few times and I think is one of the best places to have pupusas salvadorean classic dish I would recommend to put just a little bit more of vinegar to the slaw it will make it perfect , I also like drinking their passion fruit drink is awesome and natural 100% every time I go there I get the mixtas pupusas and or the revueltas one little thing they have to work on is getting drinks as soon as possible you get there and take quite a few minutes to get mine I was thirsty lol but other then that they are great for a salvadorean cuisine they also have bread salvadorean style which is awesome as well try the empanada de plátano you will love it read more

I was in town with an Amazon production, taking a little tour of Gainesville on Sunday and happened upon this Pupuseria and Bakery in an industrial area of town. I'm a sucker for a Latin breakfast so stopped in for a Desayuno Deluxe and some cafe. Both were excellent. Loved the frijoles, the fried plantains and the way the eggs were scrambled. Their coffee was piping hot and delicious. Wish I was here longer so I could return. The family vibes made it a great place to chill and get a little writing done. Oh and their banana pan dulce was moist and delicious - tasted like a not-too-sweet bread pudding. Stop in for a comforting breakfast and sweet people! read more
