Drive thru restaurant with limited outside seating available. Ordered chicken and beef empanadas as well as an order (4) croquettes. The empanadas were awesome. Light, flakey pastry with plenty of meat and peppers inside. The croquettes were just ok. I go to Miami regularly so maybe I'm a little biased. You do have a to wait a bit but you know they're fresh and not been sitting around. read more

A real gem! I have never seen another restaurant in the US offering a croquette sandwich! If you know how much work goes into making croquettes you know this is special. The ham croquettes are fried in corn meal and a taste amazing. Order them alone or better in a pressed sandwich here! Ask them to hold the ketchup and mustard and use just mayo instead. Trust me as a Cuban growing up this is how we ate these. I ordered the deluxe croquette sandwich which combines it with ham and cheese. My only issue is the ham and cheese were cold. Removed. Skipping those as everything is better hot and melty with Cuban sandwiches. The fried plantains were wonderful. Ask for salt to salt these babies! We Cubans love our salted food! It's too hot to eat outside right now but the place has a great retro look and is meant for drive through and pick up. Now I need to keep driving across GA to eat this wonderful food! read more

This was a really fabulous lunch. I wish I lived closer and I would come here all the time. I absolutely believe the Cuban sandwich was the best one I've ever had. The meat was perfectly seasoned tender and juicy. I love the bread as well. It was Cuban bread that had a crispiness to it but it was also soft. They balance those two perfectly so that you didn't have to tear off bites with your teeth but a provided a great texture as well. They gave a perfect assortment of condiments and pickles on the sandwich too and the fries were very good. The price was also super cheap so it's one of the best values you can find as well. Lastly, they were also very fast. I love that they have a drive-thru that you can hit and keep going when you're in a hurry but don't have to settle for chain fast food. If I'm in the area I'm definitely stopping by again. read more

Surprisingly good Cuban food from a drive through hut. Food Rundown: Empanadas - chicken ones were a little dry, as were the beef, but the guava cheese were alright. Cuban Sandwich - Delicious! Cuban Style Roast Chicken - Bland dish, nothing to write home about. Flan - perfection! It was dense and creamy. Tres Leche cake - We could eat 2 of them, so good. Despite us ordering a large order via drive-thru, we received it within 10 minutes. The staff was extremely friendly. We will definitely be returning for dessert! read more

So I frequent the business next door on weekends and this place was always closed, then I actually read about Cuban Cafe and well it's open M-F, come to find out they use the place for catering on weekends. Went for lunch, the lady taking the order was super helpful, explained everything on the menu and just had a wonderful positive attitude. I got a Cuban sandwich with two sides, rice and beans. The sandwich was wonderful and both sides were excellent, only wish, I wanted an extra pickle slice on my sandwich, otherwise so awesome. I did try the fried plantains and chicken empanadas and both were excellent. I really couldn't recommend this establishment more. Note on the seating, it's all outside, there are several tables with umbrellas so if it's windy or raining get it to go like I did. read more

Cuban Cafe in Flowery Branch (Oakwood) opened up shortly ago and they hit the Cuban sandwich spot!! I typically like to tag the locations but I don't see them on social media yet Pictured here is their MEDIA NOCHE sandwich (roasted pork, smoked ham, swiss cheese, pickles and mustard) and their CROQUETTE sandwich along with a chicken and beef empanadas. Both empanadas pair up very well with their cilantro sauce but I preferred the chicken empanada, very flavorful. They also have a pink sauce available if that's what you prefer. Cuban sandwiches can sometimes suffer of dryness but not at this spot! Their roasted pork was so tender and juicy, it took care of that issue I normally find with these type of sandwiches. The bread was perfectly pressed and easy to eat. Some may think the sandwich is smaller than the usual Cuban sandwich but for 10 bucks, $12 if you elect to have a meal with a side and a drink, this is a delicious steal of a meal. Their dining area is outside with some nice umbrellas and music (no indoor) so it may be difficult with this heat wave we've had lately but even with the heat, I was very happy. You'll get all your goodies in a big ol brown shopping bag so just place your order at the window, grab your drink and sit down for some good Cuban food! They do have a drivethru if you elect to skip the whole heat thing but why not pretend like it's just Cuban heat!! What a pleasant surprise! My husband and I just stumbled upon them. We love Cuban cuisine, having spent some time in Miami. The restaurant was once a Checkers that they converted. So Drive Up Cuban sandwiches! What a great idea! The sandwiches were bountiful. Actually, I only ate half so that I could enjoy the maduros and the fresh made guava and cheese empanadas. (We watched them being fresh fried.) And I will enjoy the other for lunch tomorrow. We have found a new favorite. read more

Hidden gem is right! Always saw it from the exit 16 exit, but was heading for golf in the early am. Finally remembered to try it out one day. Had the Cuban. What a great sandwich! And enough for 2! I've been back each week since and also tried the large, manly burger.... great as well! Do yourself a favor when you are hankering for a great sandwich! ps, The staff are great and very friendly. I found this gem while grandpuppy sitting at my son & DIL's home in Oakwood. It's new only open about 6 weeks. Read the few reviews and that's all I needed. Ordered the Cuban sandwich and quite frankly is the best I've ever had! The pork was juicy, ham perfection, bread crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! Perfect! Going for my second one today before heading home tomorrow. Will visit this restaurant every time I'm at my son & DIL's! They can't wait to try it and I'm sure will become regulars. read more

We went there for the first time yesterday and were so impressed with both the friendliness of the person taking and filling our order and then by the food. I have been a devotee of Cuban food for over six decades. This is one of the best Cuban restaurants I have encountered north of Ybor city. It was so good, that I returned today with my husband and we tried some different things. Everything is delicious from the fried plantains to the croquettes to the Rope Viejo. Surprisingly good! I have driven by many times as my favorite Mexican restaurant is next door, but never stopped in. I wished I had stopped in sooner. So far I've had the Cuban sandwich, plantains, and the chicken empanadas. The Cuban was delicious and more than a meal on its own. It was packed with roasted pork, generous amounts of ham. So far this is my favorite. The plantains were good, they were a little different than what I was expecting but still tasty and my go to side. I had never had empanadas so I thought that I would give it a try. They weren't my favorite but were still good. I think that with some green salsa they would be much better. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. I look forward to trying many of the other menu items. read more

We went there today for the 1st time, it was fantastic! We ordered empanadas, (1-beef & 1 chicken) the beef was delicious and we took home the chicken one for later. We Split a half of a half a Cuban sandwich, took the other half home for later, along with the Ropa Vieja meal! It was all good!! The sweet tea was good too!! I highly recommend this Cuban drive thru! They do have a few tables with umbrellas out front if you want to eat there. read more

We just relocated from south Florida. We ordered Croqueta Preparada and Pan con bistec. It was authentic and delicious. It was lunch time but after experiencing the taste and quality we ordered food to take home for dinner (ajiaco and empanadas). You wait a little because it is cooked to order therefore fresh. It came with an option of beans I went with black beans plantains in a Spanish rice, which was amazing. The chimichurri sauce that came on the steak was was flavorful yeah, I even asked for some to take home and verde sauce as well. Lol The steak was tender outside skirt steak grilled and topped with our famous chimichurri sauce (garlic, fresh herbs and olive oil). $28 My entire bill with $58 including the takeout empanadas I will most definitely be going back. Was pleasantly surprised to see they had a lunch menu that included an entree, side and drink for a banger price (but some days they don't do this deal so you have to ask). Got the veggie Cubano per usual with the legendary pink sauce and it was AMAZING. The yuka fries and plantains were also well done 10/10. Tried the veggie taco and tamale for the first time and those were also very delish and filling entrees. All in all super solid lunch and can't wait to be back again! - the line wasn't too long considering it was grad day and was moving along pretty quickly

I figured I would add an update to go along with a more recent set of photos. I was able to go in, get seated, order, and get a nice platter of ropa vieja. The food here is very reliable. And, to date, I've only had 2 entrees - the ropa vieja and the vaca frita. The restaurant remains clean and comfortable. I've just seen a slight but perceivable decline in their enthusiasm for customer service and, as it is elsewhere, it seems to show up when locales aren't even really busy. That was the situation here. I'd like to move them back up to 5, but this more sullen reception keeps Papi's in Midtown at 4 stars. Because there are about a handful of locations in the Atlanta metro area, it's just easier to go to Papi's and not reinvent the wheel.

The real issue is that they are using DoorDash for their delivery and before I even got my order someone had already sampled it. My cortadito was nearly empty and someone took a sip of my mango shake. So I won't be able to eat here anymore. I might be able to deal with the reduced portions and just call Papi's a "splurge" expense, but having someone else eating my food before i get to it is a hard stop.

We found a nice little breakfast nook in Ellijay, Ga. this morning…read more It appears to be a local favorite, where everyone knows each other. Dawn ordered the Cuban breakfast sandwich with potato's and I opted for a waffle, scrambled eggs and bacon. Everything came out hot and well cooked (potatoes were a little peppery) for Dawn's taste. (I loved em) overall it was a great breakfast and the service was good. Prices comparable to the area! Now off to the expedition Bigfoot museum! I would definitely come back again to the country corner kitchen!
