We always enjoy going here. We tried the queso recently and it was actually really good. I do feel as though they nickel and dime you. Only one refill on chips and salsa and drinks. Also a side of rice and beans was like 6 bucks. Kind of on the pricey side for that I think. The service is usually good. We have a few instances where not so much. They also double cheered my card one time and it took a while to figure it out but they did eventually get the money back to me. I had to search for the transaction though so I wish they would've called me to update me it was done. Otherwise good food, and typical Mexican restaurant vibes. read more

Returned after a not so great experience a few years ago and was glad we did. Service was friendly and efficient. Menu options are abundant; we settled on chicken and beef enchiladas. Both were very good and we especially liked the rice. Prices are in line with other similar restaurants. Chips and salsa also quite tasty. Only reason for 4 star is the booth we were seated in had a screw sticking up through the seat. Did a small road trip and ended up in the area for the evening. For dinner we were feeling something simple and easy so we looked online for a decent Mexican spot. We came across this location and decided to give it a shot as most of the reviews said it was one of the best places to visit in the area. Upon arriving we were promptly greeted and seated. The decor was nice, ambiance friendly and welcoming. My companion and I can't recommend this place for anything other then the Salsa and the Horchata. We ordered the beef, chicken and carnitas tacos as well as a side of rice and beans. The rice had no flavor, the beans were okay, and the tacos were like eating tacos from Jack n' the box but with less flavor. The service was solid at the start but after we received our food our server disappeared. When we did see them again, it took another 25 minutes before we could ask for our check as they disappeared a second time. Solid 2 stars for the horchata, salsa and decor. read more

My 80 year-old father loves to frequent this place. He is a regular. The waitresses know his order without asking him. We lost my mom nearly two years ago now. He will still drag down there, dine alone and eat a meal there because he loves it. What is the best is there have been a couple of times the cashier or manager has told him, "This one is on us." Now THAT makes this restaurant stand out among the rest. They value the ONE! They value my dad. They have made a bond with him, as I am sure they do with all who walk through their door. We were driving through Utah for 3 hours and needed a place to refuel and rest. We were craving some Mexican food. The GPS lead us to Mi Rancherito Mexican Restaurant. The grocery store/butcher shop/ restaurant atmosphere reminded us of the local taco shops in So Cal. I was interested in some Carne Asada tacos. I was surprised when the plate arrived. It was just tortillas and meat. I went to the condiment bar and threw in the onions and cilantro. I was surprised to find Avocado Salsa. I prefer a thicker consistency but the heat was spot on. The meat was moist and tender. I almost finished the taco before I could photograph it. Delicious food, little dive atmosphere We came here for lunch and were seated immediately. There are lots of tables so I would guess you could probably get tables quickly most of the time. Atmosphere is typical of a Mexican traditional restaurant. Seats are old and worn in the booths. The rest looks like it's been there a long time. Is this s problem? Nah. We were very disappointed since this was one of our favorite restaurants in Payson 20 from years ago. We had since moved away and were visiting and decided to go to our old favorite. The service was awful and the food was subpar. The restaurant was less than half empty and yet instead of a booth, they sat us in a high traffic area. The chips and salsa were very chintzy since the chips were served in a small bowl which was gone within 2 minutes between 4 adults. Once gone, the server took about 10 minutes to gives us more. Next, once the food arrived, we still didn't have any utensils and napkins and I had to flag another server for them. I had ordered the Carne Asada. What I got was a small, thin and burnt piece of meat that was not very tasty. We will avoid Mi Rancherito on future visits to Payson. read more

I would have loved to have given this restaurant a better review because I saw how hard the waitress was trying. She was attentive even though she was scattered throughout the restaurant. I ordered the carne asada special and there was nothing special about it. The beef was dry and there was about 4 oz of beef total. The meal was disappointing and honestly the worst Mexican food I have ever had in Utah. The pico that was on my plate had no vibrant colors, it looked days old and almost pickled. Being the only sit down restaurant open in Payson on a Sunday night we headed over. Good news- they do have beer, not margaritas. I could have used a margarita, but the XX Amber worked for me. Carnitas sounded good to me and my husband loves chile verde. What we received had little resemblance to anything we've ever had by those names. Both were made from crispy fried pork cubes, mine with chopped fresh veggies on top and his with cooked bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes. My husband and I are frequent customers at Mi Rancherito in Payson. We usually order the same meal, Combination #10 which is a beef tamale, a beef enchilada, and a beef taco served with rice and refried beans. It is always great and never disappoints. The atmosphere of the restaurant is similar to lots of other Mexican places but the staff is always very kind and accommodating. It seems to be family owned and operated. Sometimes we sit down and order and sometimes we call ahead and pick up the food for take out. The experience we have had has slowly gotten worse at this place. Yesterday we walked in and waited almost 10 minutes before being greeted. We were then sat for 15 before our server greeted us at our table. After ordering our food and drinks it took our server 10 minutes to bring us our drinks and then another 40 for our food. My wife's tacos were soggy and fell apart when being picked up. My burrito was extremely hot on the outside and cold on the inside with the cheese on top looking like it had been microwaved because it had sat in the window for too long. We didn't see our server after getting our food and had to ask another server to get us a refill on our drinks. We wanted Mexican food and we picked this place. We walked in and noticed the place did not smell like food was cooking. We ordered the Bistec con Rajas and two orders of the enchiladas, one cheese and one pork. The enchilada sauce appeared to be part sauce and part water. The edges of the sauce looked watery. We all tried the pork enchilada and had to ask each other if it was pork we tasted. It was pork, but came to the conclusion that it was not seasoned. The flavors you come to associate with enchiladas was missing. The bistec con rajas plate looked good but was also missing flavor. I added salt- no go. I added pepper- no go. I asked for limes to add flavor- no help. The conclusion we came to was that any flavor we were looking for was absent. On the way out we took a peek in the kitchen. It looked like an assembly line.
