Unluckily for me I came on a weekend which means the price is a bit more expensive besides that it really wasn't all too worth it. It's your typical home food...it was all right. It was extremely greasy. I couldn't even finish what I served myself. Only some things were good, but the majority of the meats are very very greasy. I'm not a fan of writing negative reviews, but here we go... We arrived on Sunday evening around 7-730pm and we seated promptly. I thought, ok great start, but then it went downhill. They had 3 types of rice, white, Moro and with seafood. I opted for the white rice which was hard, I was slightly undercooked. My husband had the Moro which he says was just ok. I had the yuca with mojo (salty), the shrimp (salty) and some sort of chicken with peppers and onions (not much flavor, but not salty). My husband had the same but he had some ribs (salty), bistek encebollado (salty) and some unidentifiable meat (ok) There was also maduros, tostones and French fries. They had some sort of sushi rolls and some empty platters that were not refilled. On the other side that had salads and fruits. There was a lot of staff, but very little service. Hubby and I made it to Bamboo for our date night last night. It was our second time dining here and both times were great. We shared a bottle of wine and started with the ham croquettas, which were amazing. Then he ordered the ropa vieja and I had the bistec empanizado. Everything was delicious and it was more than enough food to eat until we were satisfied and have plenty leftover for later. Service was on point and prices were reasonable. This morning, we came here to have breakfast and it was great. It's a small mom & pop restaurant. The service was amazing and they were very attentive always checking up on us to see how we were doing. I had the scrambled eggs with ham , Cafe Con and tostada for $3.99 . I'll start by saying that this place has so much food to choose from and the concept of a Cuban food buffet is absolutely amazing. I went on a weekend and it's a little more expensive but there's so much food that I feel it's a great deal for the price that you're paying. Outside of the buffet cost, all you have to pay for are drinks and/or dessert, They have a great selection from pork to beef to chicken to fish to shrimp... they also have two types of rice: they had white rice and moros when I went. They have a section with salad and condiments to add to the salad, and they also had ceviche. They also had a section with different fruit that you can have as dessert. I will say, that the taste of the food could be improved. Unfortunately, I'm Cuban and come from a long line of very good cooks from my mother's side so I'm always searching for that great Cuban restaurant that I could truly say the food is seasoned as good as I'm used to. I felt that the fish was good, but fishy. The garbanzos were not seasoned and the shrimp was a little tasteless (there were those little shrimp that taste like water if you don't season them), so I had to add hot sauce to kind of compensate. I understand that a lot of people that might not be used to or like a lot of seasoning, and I don't mean salt I mean overall seasoning with garlic and onions and peppers, etc. But to be fair, the customer service from the wait-staff was absolutely amazing. I didn't want to give three stars because they had such a great selection, there was so much food, and the service was so great, but if I had one constructive comment to give, please tell the cook to kick it up a notch with the seasoning because it really did not taste like the Cuban food that I'm used to. Overall, I'm not sure if I would return because the food was not completely to my liking, but I might just to try the ceviche more salad, and more fruit next time around. For Americans or tourists that don't know any better, perhaps the seasoning is perfect. But at least for me I think I'll stick to eating Cuban at home... lol. Extremely nice staff and attentive!! We ordered to go so we ended up just sitting at the bar. The establishment is large and clean. By the time we went there on a Sunday afternoon it was empty. I ordered a Mamey shake which was absolutely delicious so much that we ended up asking the waitress what her secret was, which she kindly answer and gave us all the tricks for a delicious Batido. Fuimos referidos a este lugar por una amiga, cuando llegamos nos recibió un señor que nos dijo que si no teníamos reservación no podíamos estar allí pero si pagábamos $40 por el show si podíamos estar y que además teníamos que consumir, entonces yo me pregunté: Están tan desesperados por el dinero? nosotros realmente necesitamos un lugar donde pudiésemos tomar unos tragos, bailar y pasarla bien y a pesar de que nos sentimos incómodos decidimos pagar los $40, y pedir un plato de comida. Pedimos un Cuvetazo, y a la hora de pedir la comida la camarera nos dijo que los precios de los platos en la carta no eran los reales, entonces yo me pregunté por segunda ves: sera real lo que yo estoy escuchando? pero igualmente les pedí el plato de comida que odviamente tenía un precio mucho más caro que el de la carta. No quisimos arruinar nuestra noche y seguimos en este lugar nombrado Bamboo. La verdad debo confesar que nunca antes habia pagado por un show tan mediocre donde para comenzar los speakers o bocinas del lugar chillaban a unos desíveles que podían dejarte sordo pero lo peor es que dicho show que era con un señor llamado Jorge Carlos se extendió por casi toda la noche y este señor que supuestamente era el cantante del show había invitado a todos sus amigos del barrio donde vivían en Cuba y más que sus canciones escuchamos relatos de su vida personal que la verdad no nos interesaba escuchar no fuimos allí a esto y nos pareció una tortura pero igualmente tratamos de pasarla lo mejor posible a pesar de todo. Finalmente cuando esté señor termino lo que ellos llaman show entonces comenzó la música grabada pero no música variada , solo música Cubana pero no hablo de la música Cubana de calidad como el grupo Los Van Van o Celia Cruz por tanto decidimos pedir la cuenta. Pedimos la cuenta y los tablets no les funcionaban tuvimos que esperar para pagar la cuenta por vastante tiempo hasta que a uno de los empleados se le ocurrió traer otra tablet a nuestra mesa para por fin pagarla. La camarera nos informó que además de pagar lo que consumimos debiamos pagar $10 extra por el concepto de Table fee. Is this place for real? Bueno nosotros decidimos no volver nunca más a este lugar. Excellent service and food at this little gem near our home. We came across it late Sunday and I the kids and I were in the mood for breakfast, tostada and cafe con leche. My kids LOVED it. Even something as simple as buttered toast was prepared with care. And the staff was delightful, friendly and informative. The pancakes that came with my sons meal were made in house and since he's too small for coffee, they brought him warm milk with a side of hot cocoa powder that he can add to his milk. So fun for him. Over all we had a very pleasant late afternoon here. It felt as if we were eating over at a family members home. Will definitely recommend and return for lunch or dinner. read more
