There was definitely a spicy kick to everything and the accompanying salsa was extra spicy as well. Overall, I can recommend this based on the great menu and decent food preparation, but it honestly wasn't my favorite of many other options in PV. The Black Aguachile was a beautifully-plated dish of raw shrimp layered with a spicy black sauce made of chargrilled habanero and soy sauce, but the sauce was way too salty and overwhelming in flavor. One of my favorite dishes was the Octopus Chicharron Tacos, made of crispy deep-fried pieces of octopus, served with guacamole, lettuce, and habanero mayonnaise on blue corn tortillas. The tacos had a nice combination of crispy, salty octopus with creamy guacamole and spicy habanero mayo. From the cooked dishes on the menu, we got the Grilled Octopus, a small whole octopus marinated and grilled in Yucatán recado and served with sweet potato chips, salad, and a creamy banana pepper and tomato sauce; as well as the Catch of the Day, a thick filet of mahi mahi topped with ajillo (a non-spicy pepper with a citrus flavor), and served with mashed potatoes, salad, and buttered vegetables on the side. Their concept revolves around caguamerias (#2) with an ecological purpose: they donate 5 pesos for each beer sold for the conservation of sea turtles. The entrance leads up a flight of stairs and two flights up is where the restaurant lives in an all al fresco space. There is no pretension here, just plastic chairs and tables, with the breezy beachy vibe that makes for an appealing ambiance. There are bathrooms with communal sinks and his/her entrances and a friendly group of servers. Their specialty is aguachiles, a Sinaloan specialty, which is composed of raw shrimp cured in lime juice, with blended chiles (serrano, jalapeño, etc.) cilantro and cucumber. Their prieto was their least spicy dish, with chile serrano and salsas negras, and was extremely tasty. Folks seeking serious spices should consider their güero (orange + habanero peppers) or naranja (habanero, chipotle, arbol peppers, and orange). The crunch of the chips with the raw shrimp made for an excellent, snappy, texture. The flavors were on point, the shrimp was fresh, and the aftertaste was mild at best. The aguacate de mar (shrimp salad stuffed avocado) was a pleasant surprise, wonderfully complemented by the papas (chips w/aguachile salsa). Finished with a tortuga chocolate (chocolate turtle) for an excellent end to the meal. It's important to note that this is a niche restaurant that only serves aguachiles and some small sides. Folks who have an aversion to seafood, let alone anything raw or spicy, should consider the other restaurants around the block. My meal was 556 pesos, which included an IVA tax of $76. The fries were cold and hard. Ohmigod - - this place had NOTHING but 5* reviews on Yelp to this point, and the food was scruffsville. It was an ad hoc assembly of parts, that, when all put together, made for a whole worse than the sum of its parts (shrimp were nice, but some nice shrimp, do not a whole seafood platter make).
