I've been to El Siboney a number of times over the years and am finally getting around to writing this review. The restaurant is tucked away on a back street, far from the usual tourist spots, which adds to its charm. The food is authentic Cuban cuisine -- and I say that after decades of living in and around Hudson County, NJ, where the Cuban community is large and vibrant. At El Siboney, everything tastes fresh and homemade, with generous portions and prices that are refreshingly reasonable for Key West. This visit, I ordered the whole fried yellow snapper, served with yuca, yellow rice, and beans. My dinner companion had the Siboney skirt steak, one of the restaurant's popular dishes, served with a choice of sides. Both meals were excellent. Dessert was equally impressive: a delicious slice of tres leches cake and silky vanilla custard that were the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. Best Cuban food in Key West hands-down you really felt a part of the family. They serve complementary bread, which was delicious. I highly recommend the skirt steak and garlic shrimp. The plantains are some of the best and the yuka frita is done perfectly accompanied with a lime garlic onion sauce which was a taste treat. This place did not disappoint what so ever! These were probably the most flavorful dishes I have ever had. I got the Ropa Vieja which exceeded my expectations. My husband and mother both got classic Cubans which were also fantastic. However we stopped in and got the whole yellow tail snapper which taste different than the red snapper I don't care for.
