My son started at Kindercare when he was just 9 months old, and yesterday marked his final day as he completed Pre-K. I still remember his very first day. Like many parents, I was nervous about sending him to school at such a young age. However, the teachers at Kindercare immediately put my mind at ease with their warmth, care, and dedication. As he grew and moved through each classroom, every teacher helped create a nurturing and supportive environment where he could learn, grow, and thrive. The teachers have shown incredible patience and have always been approachable and supportive of parents. Every day, my son came home excited to share something new he had learned, and I could see his confidence growing year after year. I cannot thank Ms. Wanda and her team enough for caring for my son from infancy through his Pre-K years. They have played such an important role in his development and have helped prepare him for this next chapter. Everyone there always has a smile on their face and are such a joy to drop my little ones off to in the morning. You know in your heart they are not just there because they need a paycheck , they are there because they enjoy what they do and they love the job that they have. When I first started my oldest son at kindercare he came from a school that was privately owned at a "teachers home" and they treated him very bad and had told us to find a new school when my son would cry for me in the mornings. His dad was suffering from cancer treatment and she claimed his behavior in the morning to be distracting to the other kids in the class. With no notice I was in shock of what to do and where to go to next. I called a few schools and did a couple tours but still was scared how he would be treated and cared for. I will not forget having to delay my sons start date due to us having covid and miss Wanda called and checked up to see how we were doing several times with out her even knowing us. I told her our situation and how hard it's been for my son to leave us at drop off and she told me not to worry and we will get through it together. 2 years later, he runs into school loves to say bye and tells me to go to work. Miss Balques has the best relationship with all of her students, she is simply amazing. Our family multiplied and now have a infant as well and he has been going there since he was about 3 months old. I was still terrified to back to work especially with him being so young but unfortunately it's what needed to happen. My little guy gets so excited when he sees Miss Vidya or Miss Bri he practically jumps out of my arms to them, I trust that they treat him as if he was there own child. I love all of the picture updates that I get during my work day. It shows me that they are having a good day so I can too. My son has grown so much since starting at Kindercare. Wanda, Jorge, Ms. Diamond, and all the staff are so supportive and caring. My child had (still does sometimes) a hard time separating because since birth I have been home with him. The first few weeks starting this new experience was hard for both of us and there would have been no way it would have worked if Silas hadn't received the care and attention that has become a constant joy in his life. The staff in this facility has helped my son become confident, independent, and more developed emotionally. I can see the excitement in his actions in the morning when we are getting ready and going through our routines. He is constantly learning new things at this facility and it shows when he comes home with a smile on his face and new tricks up his sleeve. I always feel very informed and involved especially with the new app that gives you on demand information. With my sweet baby turning two in November, I am excited to see him grow and learn in the next level classroom with the next set of lovely teachers. There are a few things I'd like to address since reading through the other reviews. First, I have not been offered any discount or even been asked to write this review. Second, I have seen first hand some of the inappropriate behavior that parents have displayed inside of the Kindercare that had to be stopped by Ms. Wanda. It is my suspicion that some of the negative reviews towards the administration staff have stemmed from the fact that a few of the parents dont like that they can't come into the building and act however they want anymore due to the high standards and individual accountability that is maintained by the staff and administrators. With all of that being said, I couldn't recommend this place enough if you value your child's education, safety, and care. We put our daughter in this Facility at about 4 months. As a new mother, I was nervous about detaching from her but Ms. Wanda, Ms. Sarah, and Ms. Mary Lou (and the rest of the teachers of course), all did a great job at welcoming us and making this a positive experience. Ms. Mary Lou was her primary teacher, she is amazing. She helped our daughter develop in many ways, during her time there she learned how to crawl, stand, eat and drink on her own, start solids, and just be a social butterfly. After many site tours and months of searching for childcare, I recently toured KinderCare of El Sobrante and it was an amazing experience! The facility was clean, smelled good and was vibrant with beautiful art work from the kids. It looked like a great place that I feel my son would really enjoy while I'm away at work. My son's have been going here for over a year now and they love it!! My youngest started in the 1's and is now in the 2's with Ms Cece whom he adores. She is very stern but the kids listen and respect her she has done great things with them and works so hard to help them learn. My oldest when we first started was under a different director and we ended up having to take him out because the kids and parents were awful and just mean. Wanda came in and has turned it around so much!! Some parents were angry because she doesn't allow the same do whatever you want attitude as before and hold the children as well as the parents accountable and I'm all thankful as 1 daycare instead of 2 different ones make things much easier. My oldest is back and with the new director and the children who were hurting the other kids gone it's such a change. She has been working non stop with parents and kids too help express themselves in a safe and honest way without putting hands on others, between her and Ms Nikita telling the children that foul language is not appropriate and having open communication with each parent it's like a different center. I know my kids are in great hands with Wanda and the Assistant Director Sarah and the whole staff. I'm thankful for their help and dedication to the kids. read more

Miss Balqes is by far one of the best preschool teachers I have ever met. She actually cares about the children and their development. She make sure each child in her class is engaged and actually learning. If she notices a child distracted during circle time, she will pause and pull the child's attention in to actually take in what she is teaching for the day. Any school and child would be lucky to have Miss Balqes as a teacher. My family and I really love and appreciates her so very much. Miss Vidya is a wonderful infant teacher and has done a fabulous job at taking care of all of my children. Miss Pusnun is a really hard worker and have also done a fabulous job and taking care of all my children. Miss Ana and Miss Vivi are super sweet, loving and are hardworking. They patiently worked with my 2nd child until she got comfortable and broke out of her shell and my 2nd child doesn't warm up to people easily and she loves them, she also loves Miss Maya. Mr. George is really patient and kind to all my kids. My oldest enjoys learning with Mr. Patrick as well. Miss Catalina is wonderful as well and I'm glad she's back. My son attended Valley Bible Preschool and when they closed, we had a very difficult time transitioning him into another preschool. Two of the new preschools we looked at didn't work out and wasn't a good fit for him so we had to continue looking for something that potentially would work for his needs and personality. My son is very active, energetic and has a short attention span among other things. After getting a referral from a good friend, we reached out to KC. Right from the beginning, KC was very responsive and involved with us and our son. They were thorough, efficient and very on top of everything. I was very pleased with their whole registration process - from the virtual tour of the facility with Sara to answering our questions and helping us with all the forms and documents needed for registration. They made the whole process simple and easy for us. They kept in touch with us and notified us of any updates or things of concern. They even have an app where you can see pictures and some of the key things your child learned and accomplished for the day. I loved this feature. Wish all preschools had this. Ms. Wanda Betts, the Center Director is very pleasant and easy to work with. She worked with us and our son to address any issues that came up. Instead of giving up on my son and saying he no longer could attend KC, they worked with us and we noticed a big change in attitude and behavior. My son was listening and behaving. Of course this didn't happen overnight but the key thing here is KC's faculty made this possible - my son's teacher Ms. Balques, Ms. Sara and Ms. Wanda all played a big part in this. They didn't give up on my son and kick him out but worked with us in helping my son be better. Overall KC truly is beyond a childcare center. They believe in kids and give them a chance and in my son's case he needed the extra support and guidance which KC provided above and beyond. I started looking for childcare when i was 4 months pregnant because I was having twins and not many spots were open. This facility looked fine, and the director was super knowledgeable. I paid my deposit and called back about 2 months before I had to go back to work. I spoke with the new director who said to call back in 45 minutes. I did with no answer so I left a message. A month went by and still no call back. Finally I called corporate and who said they would reach out to her to call me back. No call back. Finally I expressed my frustration to corporate and the regional manager was extremely helpful and understanding and returned my deposit. No real review since the communication was so poor that I couldn't even talk to the new director but clearly I wouldn't send my child to a place that can't return a phone call. Looks like I am the first review of El Sobrante Kindercare in 2019 and it's mid-September! I'm using the same review I put on Google and just re-posting... ================================ I sent my son here because the daycare center near my house closed down right before I went back to work from maternity leave, and I had to scramble to find a new one. I saw the reviews online about the center and I was definitely a little uncertain. But I told myself that we'll start him at Kindercare El Sobrante and see how it goes... and we have been pleasantly surprised. 1) I didn't realize that with their Kindercare app I get photos (and sometimes videos) of my baby throughout the day! It's sooo nice! I prefer it to having full-day video access because I would be too busy to log on to see the video stream on a regular basis, but getting a few photos throughout the day is just enough to know how my son is doing 2) In addition to me getting photos and videos, I can add members of my family and friend circle to get the photos and videos too -- and everytime I talk to family they comment on how happy my son looks, and how he is doing something new that he hadn't before (like standing on his own). If I didn't have the Kindercare app I'd have to manually send photos to my countless family members across the world 3) My son truly is happy at the center. I know people question me and ask me how I really know, but I see how he interacts with the staff, and how they interact with him, and he gives them these great big smiles. He doesn't do that unless he really likes someone. And the staff all love to play with him! 4) The center managers (Wanda and assistant manager Sara) know my name when I walk in the door, and they say "Hi Krupa." The staff all know which baby I am the mom to and they will tell me something about where he is (if he is in a different room than normal) or how he was that day. It tells me that they are paying attention 5) When I first started him at daycare I was so worried about the amount of time I would have to take off from my son getting sick from daycare. 3.5 months in he finally got his first sickness! Everyone else I spoke to (who sends their kid to other daycare centers) said their kid was getting sick at least once per month. If you're looking for a Safe, Attentive and Thorough child Care Center... THIS IS NOT THE PLACE.! I have never experienced such unprofessionalism in the child care industry. Wanda Betts, the site coordinator is VERY disrespectful not only to parents, but also to the staff. She talks down to her staff and it's uncomfortable to hear in passing. My daughter was in the "TWO's" class for a total of 3 mos. Within that 3mos she got CROUP and was hospitalized, Hand Foot and Mouth Disease, AND Covid due to the lack of CLEANLINESS and sanitation. Additionally, they did NOT notify parents when any of these outbreaks occurred in the classroom until I as a parent had to ASK what was going on in my he classroom. To my question, Wanda answered "Why would you ask me? I'm the site coordinator not the teacher. You need to talk to the teacher." My daughter would come home with diaper rashes due to them not changing her because while they say the student to parent ratio is 1:6-8 (one teacher: for every 6-8 kids)... the Ratio here is 1:10-12 so you're child isn't properly cared for. I do not recommend this place for any child or family at all. I've also reached out to Jennifer Wu the district manager to address these issues and never heard back. read more

I toured this KinderCare recently. I don't understand how it can have so many positive reviews. Maybe these parents have no idea what goes on during the day, maybe they make things neat and do things right during dropoff and pickup times. What I didn't like: it was smelly inside, it was very loud. There was a radio playing Rn'B loudly. Maybe if it was kid music....90s Rn'B?! I couldn't really hear the woman giving me the tour. The teachers were not interacting with the preschoolers. They were standing against the walls looking like they were forced to be there. One kid was kind of acting out while I was there, typical 4 year old stuff. One teacher just glared at him, didn't talk to him/redirect, even I was scared. None of the teachers approached me, or my kids. I just got such a bad vibe I couldn't leave fast enough. Anyway, my point is if you're considering them, go there before you assume they are as high quality as other KinderCares out there, because they are not. read more

I had a good experience with Kindercare El Sobrante until my daughter's class of 10 turned into a class of 20+ toddlers. My daughter became very agressive within 1 month. One day I stayed to watch. They only had 2 teachers in the room and there was complete chaos in the class. Children were beating each other up and nothing was being done to correct the behavior of the children. A child even hit me and told me that I was in time out. I am so sure that my daughter was bullied and that's why she became so agressive. I loved her teacher, but she was overworked and had too many students under her care. read more

El Sobrante KinderCare is a terrific child care center! We recently had to change our child care situation on very short notice. We needed a center that would drop off and pick up from our son's elementary school. I researched quite a few places and finally decided on KinderCare. Here's why; the directory is very easy to work with, is focused on making sure the children are safe, are learning through different educational programs and are having fun! The staff is focused on the same thing. Every staff member is approachable and is great with the children. These other reviews seem off to me. Maybe it's because they're older and the staff and director have made a lot of positive changes. We are very happy our son is a part of KinderCare! read more

My son started attending Kindercare when he was 11 months old. My husband and I instantly felt comfortable there when we went for our tour. After viewing other facilities, we felt most at ease at Kindercare because of the trained staff as well as the ratio of staff to child. It is a pleasure interacting with the staff--which makes us feel all the more comfortable leaving our child in their care. Additionally, they are flexible with your family's scheduling needs. We absolutely love the services they offer and my son is always so cheerful and talkative whenever I pick him up after a day with his friends! Oh, and the daily report cards are the best part; we get to share in on the activities his class did during the day, what he ate (they always give him healthy and creative options I never think of), how long he slept for, and diaper changes. My twin girls been at this facility since they were 9 months and now they are 4 years old and a half. Today I've had a concern with Jorge, and I've addressed him to let him know I'm still here how can I help and it was not getting though to him when I explained what I was seeing with him and my daughters. I went to the NEW director (Wanda) and she sat at her desk giving her body language of "not caring" arms folded, face expression as if I shouldn't be in here telling her about the unprofessional behavior thats going on with her staff, and had no interest in my concern as she continue to look at her computer. Previous incidents that occurred with my children are needing to be addressed because there are a lot of missing information she (Wanda) has failed to explain to me, and I no longer feel comfortable with my children here at this facility. My daughters left the facility this day for the lack of the director completing her task to avoid these type of issues. I've contact the facility, and of course no one answered so I left a voice message, Wanda returned my voice message promptly after to update me with her supervisor Jen which I've called to connect with. My children are precocious for their age and love learning, and this facility do not empower children in this field anymore. When Megan was here at this facility EVERYTHING ran perfectly, and parents did not carry stress upon how their children days are at Kindercare. The facility is clean, the environment is not energetic anymore, it's empty and it's time for me to start looking else where for my children to attend school for their education. Megan you did a great job here as a director, you kept everything in motion with a huge engagement with the activities you held at Kindercare and I know parents are not easy to handle, but you did an amazing job with all the children and their parents and your interaction with the kids made this a great fit- it no longer has this touch of greatness. If someone from corporate can kindly respond to me in my concern of today I would appreciate it. My daughter started KinderCare Summer 2013, age 4 part-time. Fortunately, Megan Newell, started shortly after as the Director and the center took on a new vibrancy. We are grateful for her leadership and professionalism. I love dropping my son off here everyday! He is in the Pre-K program and is learning so much! I am confident that he is going to go into Kindergarten well prepared and ready to learn. The teachers are great and are always doing some kind of activity with the kids. The teachers always update me on what my son is working on and any concerns they have. The curriculum here is well designed and engaging. My son is sounding out letters and reading small words, which I think is amazing. The teachers in the other classrooms are also very friendly and welcoming. The management recently changed here so maybe some of these other reviews are outdated and do not apply to the current state of the center. I would definitely recommend this place to other parents. It is always difficult to leave your babies with strangers, but they make it very easy here. read more
