Metal piece of probably a metal scrubber in the center of my chimichanga

Am so disappointed in this place used to be our go to treat our self dinner every week until the past three times. First instance they forgot a whole burrito meal from our take out order. Second time I was feeding my toddler my chimichanga and there was a metal piece in the food. We went back and they refunded the chimichanga not the entire order which is okay I guess but they didn't seem to care. This time i was hesitant but figured surely it'd be crazy for something to happen a third time they forgot our guacamole order 10$ btw, and they gave us the completely wrong burrito. Had to run all the way back so a quick take out order turned into an hour long journey. And they didn't take care of anything for their mistakes either. We both work in restaurants and know things happen but this is just too frequent and disappointing.

Five friends thoroughly enjoyed the festive atmosphere of El Sol on Market St. this afternoon. We started off with a house made guacamole, chips and salsa. Actually, I forgot that I started with a Patrone Marguerite. Yummy. Our food arrived and we all dug in. Everything was excellent so we added three desserts. Our server was attentive, friendly and assisted in helping us navigate the menu. We would definitely recommend this place.

Elevated mexican FTW! Don't let the prices thwart you from coming here- large portions and everything was delicious! Sat at the bar, which is wide, so there's plenty of space for your food and apps. If you are deciding between Plaza Azteca and here, choose here everytime! Salsa is not spicy, just a hint of heat, which how I prefer it! Chips are fresh and a little thick. Besides needing a little salt, best chips I've had! Though not complimentary, I highly recommend the three cheese fundido, and you get the chips and salsa with it. We really should have split an entree with the app, but the fajita quesadilla was full of steak and chicken. The green peppers were not soggy, so it gave a little crunch, and that flavor shined through. Taco salad is a little expensive once you add a meat, but if you don't cover it in dressing or salsa, plenty to take home to make a second salad. Happy hour on a Saturday is somewhat rare, so our timing was accidentally perfect. Weekday happy hour specials too.

This is an ok place to go. It was easy enough to go with a bigger group and not have to wait forever and food comes out pretty quick. I tried the hibiscus cocktail. I liked that it wasn't overly sweet. It was refreshing. We started off with the guacamole and it was really good. Very chunky, but good. I got the flautas plate for my entree. It was underwhelming. Unfortunately they use flour tortillas and I prefer corn. Our server, Thomas, was great though!

I have visited and ordered online several times and the food is always delicious, fresh and authentic. My favorite is the La Banderita Enchiladas. Servers are kind and helpful. Restaurant is cozy and colourful. Definitely one of my favourites.

My first time eating here. I've been to other Mexican restaurants in the area (i.e. El Rodeo, Plaza Azteca, Moe's Southwest), and they all seem to be much better than El Sol. El Sol seems to focus on a "fusion" food mindset which is annoying. I like my Mexican food to be simple (buy food to EAT - NOT to LOOK AT as in "art"). The enchiladas REALLY sucked, and judging from the fact that my siblings could only eat ONE taco each (out of the three [each] that they ordered, it appears the tacos were not very tasty, as well. Fountain drinks are $3.50 each, which would imply that they come with refills; however, the wait staff NEVER returned until it was time to receive the check. Nah, I do not think that I'll be returning to El Sol a second time. It was simply terrible taste and terrible presentation and terrible service. This now explains the empty tables and parking lot!!!

Love the decor and cozy atmosphere. Both a bar area and a restaurant dining area. The food is absolutely delicious. It's hard to find really good Mexican food in PA but this is a contender for sure.

Finally an upscale Mexican restaurant on the west shore. Great atmosphere ... great menu ... great food ... great drinks! Hand's down fantastic! Wide variety of unique quseo fondino and quac options are epic. "That was amazing" after eating her sopas ...

El Sol has lots of dishes with reasonable prices. They don't offer chip and salsa as complimentary like other restaurants do but if you order queso or ceviche, then the chips and salsa comes with it. Their salsa though doesn't taste as flavorful as others. It's quite mild but i understand that a lot of people would have love it that way. I also had their ceviche, burritos, and an appetizer called pork belly. Their ceviche tasted fresh but the meat in the burrito was quite dry. Pork belly was an interesting choice, something that i havent tried before. It's worth a try but i won't order it again. The staff was friendly and the food came out pretty quick. The restaurant is quite cozy as well.

Having loved for years in Soitjern California, where Mexican food is everywhere, we were delighted with El Sol came to town. The food is authentic and excellent. The service and ambiance are very good. The tequila selection is extensive.

The chips come out PIPING HOT and are fresh fried, as they should be, but seems to be rare for Mexican restaurants in the area these days... the salsa is incredibly good. It is a touch spicy with a little sweetness, but we loved the flavor. The first basket is free (also not always the norm around here) and a second basket is only $1.50 more - that's amazing! We also got a queso con chorizo to share and the small size was PLENTY. We both decided on taco platters and that was a great choice - we got to try a bunch of meats that way. The al pastor was amazing, as was the carne asada, carnitas, and shrimp taco. The tacos were topped with an amazing guacamole sauce. I got corn tortilla tacos and they were perfectly griddled and warm. My husband enjoyed his flour tortilla tacos. The rice and beans were fresh and hot and delicious too. Food came out quick and exactly as we ordered, even with some modifications! We didn't love the additional red sauce in the squirt bottle that you can add to your food, but the salsa verde in the squirt bottle was good. I ordered an extra salsa to add to my tacos instead. For drinks, there's agua frescas and an extensive soda selection in a case to choose from. My husband was happy to see Mexican Coke. Service was great! Overall, we had two taco platters, queso, two drinks, plus an extra chips and salsa for less than $40. You can't beat it. We will be back!!

Décor was the typical Mexican, with over-the-top paint colors. The dining area was spacious. The waitress greeted us with big smiles. We sat ourselves by the window. Immediately we were offered a complimentary serving of chips and salsa. The chips were well made and the salsa was tangy and very appetizing. I made my order almost in no time for the Mole Poblano; my wife ordered Pechuga en Crema con Champiñones. The food came out in about 10 minutes; both dishes came with 4-5 tortillas. Now, the long-awaited mole sauce -- thick, dark, and complex. I watched a YouTube video on how it's typically made, so I had a level of respect and appreciation for it. It tasted like the popular five-spice bean curd jerky Asian snack -- bold and strong. I liked it very much. My wife's cream chicken, while moist, was bland in comparison. If you're like me, you'd be a bit confused when the bill came. The amounts were different from what the menu showed. Basically, the figures on the bill were the inflated prices that included surcharges for paying with a credit card. If you pay cash, you pay the menu prices instead.

Anyone who knowingly goes into a smoking bar/restaurant and is bothered or offended by smoke should not have gone inside in the first place...Or immediately left. In my previous review, I took off one star for this, but upon reflection, it's not fair to knock the business simply for what they do, which is cater to a clientele that smokes. I hate cigarette smoke but keep coming back...hmm, wonder why??? It's like taking off a star because a restaurant serves pork (something you might not like, consume, or even want to smell!). WTH? We've been stopping here a lot lately for weekday lunch, especially taco Tuesday. Great deals on really amazing tasting food-the reason I keep coming back!!! Always a drink special and plenty of daily food specials. There was one time our server had a bitch-face and her attitude sucked, but pretty sure she's long-gone. And if ever there was any issue with service or the food, I know for a fact the owner or manager would correct the issue on the spot. So, if there's a problem, give the business a chance to make it right, don't be a d!ck, and your issue will likely go away. Inside, the vibe is warm and festive: colorful artwork, low-top tables, a lively bar stocked with tequilas, and gorgeous Moravian star lights glowing overhead. The menu is extensive -- everything from tacos and burritos to rice bowls, full entrées, and massive multi-person feasts served in lava rock molcajetes. Most dishes land around $20, or you can snag tacos individually for $5.50. We started with the Mexican Seafood Dip and wow... game changer. Shrimp, bay scallops, crab, and mushrooms all swimming in a red tomatillo sauce, baked under a gooey blanket of cheese, and served with chips. Unlike so many "seafood" dips that are 90% cheese, El Sol delivers with generous amounts of actual seafood. It was piping hot, hearty, and plentiful -- enough that we happily took leftovers home. For mains, I went with a Birria Taco (plus a trusty Diet Coke). Juicy, cheesy, crispy perfection -- I could've polished off three more but restrained myself. Adventure Buddy chose Camarones A La Diabla -- jumbo Gulf shrimp and mushrooms in a three-chile sauce. Bright red, spicy but not overpowering, and loaded with shrimp that were actually jumbo. He was a happy camper. Our total came to $62 with tip, which felt fair for the quality and portions. Service was attentive and friendly, and the noise level low enough for both conversation and even a quick phone call. Parking is the usual downtown Harrisburg scene -- no on-site lot, but free street parking after 5 and garages nearby make it easy enough. Bottom line: great food, colorful atmosphere, and a menu that's begging us to come back. Next time, I'm eyeing one of those lava rock molcajetes.
