Carne Asada Fries

The food is very average. Got the carne asada fries and it looked like it could have have been all frozen stuff just reheated, see picture. Very over priced for what it is, like $19 for the fries. Not going to go again.

We were there for breakfast! Had the best menudo ever ! Outstanding service, nice clean place with a great coffee without a doubt 5 stars, definitely a place to go back

Juanita's closed today (Wed) so trying a different place called Taco Del Mar for California burritos.

I ordered a California Burrito here because Juanita's was closed. It's a lot cheaper but smaller. I had like 2 bites of it and didn't want to eat it anymore so I thought I would save it for later but ended up tossing it in the trash. I was so disappointed. I was used to a certain caliber. They don't put guacamole in it and it seems to be lacking something else that I can't put my finger to it. I give 2 stars for their salsa though. They were good, both red and green. I'm not sure if I'll come back again.

Place is awesome, great staff and great food. I'm from out of town and these guys remember my order every day. Fair prices even better food.

Meat has no flavor, filled super small burrito with mainly rice and a little bit of beans and meat. Never going back again. Not worth $9.

What a great Family Restaurant! The inside is impeccably clean, the benches look freshly redone, the ceiling tiles and lights are all new, and the tables have all been recently varnished. There are even children's drawings and a lucky horseshoe hanging between the windows. It's quiet, comfortable, and local. This place is a real diamond in the rough, I think, and a short drive from the beach, so I didn't have to air up the tires. I got the carne asada fajitas. Fresh steak and veg., with No shortage of caramelized onions. The price is just right. I can't wait to come back. If they had WiFi, I could definitely see myself bringing my laptop and working for while, it's so comfortable here.

Our favorite Mexican places to eat They never miss…read more Quality of food is always top tier!

I waited 45 minutes and paid $6 dollars for this piece of crap (will attach a pic) i got the vegetarian taco, which you would think they could at least add some cheese to it for flavor but nope. Also, for a place called "The gril", you would think that the vegetables WOULD actually be grilled, but no, they were not. The rice was dry, and the beans had no flavor. I literally could not eat it and left half of it there. My server felt so bad she insisted on not taking a tip. So because of this crappy company, my server did not get a tip. I would have insisted, but I didn't have cash, and she would not allow me to add a tip to my card charge because she knew I waited 45 minutes for a fu*king vegetable taco ‍ Honestly, I think they screwed up and forgot, because there's no way it should have taken that long, and she knew that....she kind of flinched and grimaced, and she said "I'm sorry, I think they got backed up" and kind of rolled her eyes as if to say, I think they fu*ked up, she even said quietly to me "I think maybe they forgot". This was for the live music event on Friday, 6/19 at Claiborne & Churchill. The music was great, The servers/ wine stewards were amazing, but the food was horrible. At least my taco was. if I ever see La Parilla serving food again anywhere I am, I will not order anything! BLECH. Oh, also I asked for no onions, and they couldn't even get that right. In one of my pictures, you will see onions that I pulled aside on the plate. I could have pulled aside more, but I was wolfing down what I could after waiting 45 miinutes for a frigging shit*y vegetarian taco that was crap when I got finally got it. NOT worth the wait. No cheese, no sour cream, no guacamole....just dry rice, flavorless beans, and a few pieces of bell pepper, plus onions - which I asked to NOT HAVE. What a pathetic, underflavored, overpriced taco. Ironically, I drove by Hannah's tacos food truck earlier, and I should have just bought some tacos from them. They are, I think $3 per taco, and 10 times better than this crap was

I came here for lunch twice during my 3-day stay here and loved every taco I had (fish, birria, carne asada and al pastor). Tuesdays- $2.50 tacos with a purchase of an agua fresca! I got the horchata and it was creamy, cinnamony and not too sweet! Order at the register and they give you a buzzer to let you know when your order is ready. The food comes out within minutes! The al pastor burrito was packed with perfectly seasoned meat and well-balanced ingredients, while the beef cheese quesadilla was warm, satisfying, and generously filled. You can tell they put real care into both the taste and presentation. Beyond the food, the whole experience felt elevated by the atmosphere. The space has a cool, modern vibe while still feeling welcoming, and everything was spotless--it honestly looks brand new and very well maintained. It's the kind of place where you feel comfortable lingering a bit longer and enjoying your meal. The only small downside for me was that the chips and salsa were served at the same time as the main dishes. I would have preferred to have them brought out earlier as a starter, just to enjoy them before the meal arrived. Overall, it's more than just a quick bite--it's a place we'd gladly come back to for both the food and the inviting environment.

While I understand that prices have gone up everywhere, I always kept coming back because the food was simple, consistently delicious, and the service was always warm and welcoming. That makes writing this review genuinely disappointing. During my last visit, I noticed something that completely changed how I felt about the restaurant. There was a Confederate flag displayed inside, which I had never seen before. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt because there was also a Mexican flag displayed nearby. But when I walked up to pay, I noticed a Trump sticker and a "Nescum" sticker on the beverage cooler near the register. That's what really bothered me. Everyone is entitled to their own political beliefs, and I respect that. But I don't believe a family restaurant is the place to display political messages, regardless of which side they support. When a business chooses to do that, it changes the atmosphere and can make customers feel unwelcome. It honestly broke my heart because I've supported this restaurant for well over a decade. I've always appreciated the family, the food, and the service. Unfortunately, after this experience, I've decided I won't be returning. I truly wish them the best, but I miss when this was simply a great local Mexican restaurant where everyone could feel comfortable, regardless of their political views.
